When Volodja finally could speak after the long and passionate kiss he just received, he said: "That was the best way to say "I love you" my girl. You just gave me a lesson about no need for words to express something important. I love you too, Sandy.
I was trying to keep you safe by going alone. I am usually there where is trouble and I don't want endanger you. That suicide plan of mine is simple - I am going to scouting. If I get Micor Newlo out of the way when Atticus wants to talk with Lady it would be a success. When Micor is around it's impossible to convince Lady to leave Inquisition. His influence on Lady is too strong. If he is not home then it's even better for us and worse for him. Maybe we can get useful information about our puppeteer, because she can't leave Lady alone for too long. Lady is a teenager after all and that means ten different moods during five minutes.
And we can cover Atticus without him knowing it, because I don't trust our puppet master. Anyone who enters her cave is potentially enslaved, kidnapped, brainwashed and so on. So this is going to be a scouting and diversion mission first and I am...I mean we are are going to act according to circumstances. Anything, including a part time job as guardian angels, is better than sitting and doing nothing because everyone seem to have their own plans already. Actually - do you have something better in your mind so we can help others in more efficient way? If you do then don't hesitate to tell me, my girl. But only after I return a kiss."
Then he leaned closer to Sandy and confirmed his feelings to her with another warm, tender and yet so passionate kiss. Lovers tend to forget their surroundings because sometimes it's better to make the world go away, enjoy kissing your loved one and get caught into the ring of fire.

"Micor Newlo was promised to me, so nobody, especially that lover boy, is going to steal him away. What is mine is mine. I am certain that Volodja would want to go after those Inquisitors to harm them any possible way. He wants to spare lives, including Micor's sorry one, but accidents can happen and I did not planned easy death for Micor. And I do not let the lover boy to get MY trophy again. Sacre Bleu! Let the competition begin. I will be after him wherever he might be, because anything he can do, I can do better," said Marcel Lestrange. "And on our way we can collect information to sell."

Wolfram von Eschen sighed when he eavesdropped conversation between Sandy and Volodja. Maybe it was better than homicidal, depressed und so weiter Atticus Batman is going to have a guardian angel with experience in psychology, diplomacy and being a field agent. If patients are deciding to travel to the world then doctors have to follow them and young, skilful, experienced and EGO psyche provided Volodja had better chances to survive than old Wolfram who didn't had an EGO psyche. And Volodja is going with capable and gorgeous female warrior Sandy so these two are just fine without him. Wolfram will take care of patients in the fortress. When he saw Sandy and Volodja kissing, he turned delicately away and put his nose into the book again.

Vo raised Belle's delicate hand as she was squeezing his one and kissed her fingers.
"I've made my decision and of course I'll let you make yours", he answered to Belle as he looked at her with a more relaxed smile on his face now. "If you want to come through it together with me, then so be it. In fact, I really appreciate it."
Besides being really pleased that Belle would be with him throughout his operation, he was still afraid that Belle might have another bout of her panic attack during the process, which might make Dr. Orion divide his attention between two patients which in sequence might lead to something might go wrong with the surgery process, and in the end Belle would never forgive herself if her bout would be the reason for the doctor's failure. But then, he believed in Dr. Orion's professionalism and ability to handle the situation, and he also hoped that Belle's desire to help him ease his pain will make her focused enough to fight back her own panic. Having rationalized it this way, he decided not to tell Belle his concerns so that they won't ruin her confidence, but instead he nodded in agreement, showing with his smile how pleased he was as he knew his love will be with him during this challenging time.
"I love you too Belle", he added, "I really really do."
Vo's heart sank when Atticus said he was about to move the surgery room to his own building. Albeit he knew it was the best for security and it ensured he could start protecting the kids immediately after the surgery, he also felt uneasy about being the first patient at the new place. Apparently it wasn't enough that enclosed spaces and medical facilities were giving him the creeps, now he had to have his surgery processed in a newly organized infirmary with freshly installed equipment, which may affect doctor's efficiency in a negative way as he had to get used to the new room and the placement of the equipment in it. But as he still thought it was a best way to provide security, he decided he would come through it as well, but he would order Shirra, his EGO psyche, to help Dr. Orion to orient in the new room in any way it would be needed. The only question that was left to solve was Belle's access into the new infirmary as he didn't hear Atticus say her name among those who would be allowed there.
"Atticus, there's one thing I have to ask you", Vo said as he went up to the Commander, "Could you please allow Belle to access the new infirmary too? She's willing to support me during my surgery and I think there would be no harm if she is allowed to do so. Dr. Orion says it won't take long the way we planned it, so she will be free to go on a mission right after it's finished."

"Now what, Esthete? Let me guess, bad news?" Lu asked shaking off slumber as one of the drones played chip-tune music above her head as she tried to take a nap in the pilot seat of team's space ship.
"Not exactly bad, but rather strange", Esthete answered, "The pass entry system at Edmonton received six Indogene and one Castithan DNA signatures to be allowed to pass. It never happened to be that many passes at once since the beginning at the research. And it was the last message from the system there before I lost contact with it. What makes it even more interesting, those Indogenes were never registered as citizens of Red Deer."
"Nice catch, you byte-muncher, Lu winkled at the drone, "How do you think, what are the chances that those Indogenes are the ones rumored to be kidnapped throughout the Bay Area?"
"Let me calculate…"
"Just stop. You'll generate so much heat with it that people of Antarctica will become envious. Give me those DNA signatures and I'll make a call to people who must be in the know."
"Excellent idea!" Agreed Esthete, as Lu was calling Taffer with a request to compare the DNA signatures captured by Esthete with those who were known to be kidnapped in the Bay Area.
Just as she finished a call, she heard a knock on the ship's steel door and saw through the camera that the young female Indogene was waving at her.
"Ada, Inner Circle", she introduced herself. "Esthete recommended you as the most trusted person. Can we talk in private?"
"Wow, I'm flattered", Lu answered. She was surprised twice, first about being personally addressed by the member of the Inner Circle and second, to be called a trusted person by her. "Well, I think we are as private as we can get, especially if some nosey byte-muncher turns his microphones away for a couple of minutes."
"Well, Esthete is fine, as he's already in the know of the issue. So… do you have a spare rebreather unit? I know it sounds strange as I could just order it officially from its storage, but I have to keep this transaction in a complete secret".
Lu could not help but stare at the Indogene with surprise the third time during this two-minute conversation, trying to figure out who's the one who is insane here.

"Now what?" Taffer muttered as he received the call from Red Deer, "Okay, nice find Lu. I'll check and call you back."
He ordered his EGO to cross-search the DNA signatures he had just received with those they had in the database. It wasn't too much surprising to him when he saw that one of them belonged to Iri, her DNA was entered into the database when she was allowed to access the computer in the War Room. He shared with the team what he had just found, and then said to Atticus:
"I think we can send Chase to do something positive for Iri now without endangering Lady. I could fly him there, but I guess it would be better if I stay with the main team. So I have to send him alone into the hands of the trusted contact we have there. And if you excuse me please, I'd better do it right now before he runs off like Atticus said or does something equally stupid."
With that said, Taffer left the War Room and went to the room where Chase stayed. Once he reached the room, he knocked and said through the door: "Chase, we have found the place where they brought Iri or are in the process of transferring her there right now." When Chase opened the door, Taffer continued, ignoring the look of disbelief on his face. "We have Lu monitoring the situation there and getting more information. Here's DNA signatures of Indogenes who are about to be brought there. The highlighted one is Iri's. The plane with the pilot will be waiting for you on the runway. Get to Red Deer and meet Lu there. She's local, so she'll show you the best way to Edmonton. The only thing I know about that place is that once the Ark was found that was landed there, the barrier was erected around it by a group of Indogenes, and they don't allow anyone else there. Lu said she will try to get more information about that place while you'll be on your way. We'll send you any additional information we could find about our enemies here. What we managed to find out now is that the mind control technology is of Omec origin. The control can be overridden by saying a command in an Omec language if the preceding commands were given in English or Indojishen. I'll send the info about it to Lu as well, so she could search for someone who knows a couple of words in Omec. Can we rely on your cooperation Chase?"

Post by Chase Lonehart on Sept 3, 2015 4:43:19 GMT
“You can’t argue with an insane person,” he told himself as he laid on the bed, not believing that Belle thought she could talk Lady out of her plans. Chase sat up, carefully moving and lowering his repaired leg. He knew he couldn’t just sit there and do nothing. He waited long enough. “What can I do?” he asked himself. He sat quietly for a moment. “If we have any chance at winning this fight, we need intel. We need to know how many of the opposition we’re facing… How much firepower they have… What their plan is. But how can I get intel without-“ It then came to him, recalling back to the moment of Iri’s kidnapping. That bastard. That pale-skinned bastard and his pals. They had been abducting Indogenes, even during the day. So that means that there’s a chance they’re still out there, targeting Indogenes to kidnap. All Chase needed to do was to hunt them down, bring one of them back to the Fort and get them to talk. It seemed way better than to just storming into wherever the enemy was and without any clue as to what to expect. At least by finding those bastards, Lady and the Inquisitors would be caught with their pants down and their asses hanging ou- There was a knock at the door that caught Chase’s attention. He carefully got up, putting the weight on his right leg until he could get the weight evenly distributed between bot of his feet. He headed over to the door, hearing Taffer voice. "Chase, we have found the place where they brought Iri or are in the process of transferring her there right now." Chase felt his head pound in his chest, knowing what was going to come. He knew he was going to have to cut through every Inquisitor in the base to get to her. People like them wouldn’t stand down without a fight. But Chase couldn’t figure out how they came about the information. Chase slowly opened the door, looking at Taffer with uncertainty. "We have Lu monitoring the situation there and getting more information. Here's DNA signatures of Indogenes who are about to be brought there. The highlighted one is Iri’s.” Taffer handed Chase a pad device, him looking at the match displayed. As Taffer went on with the intel, but Chase couldn’t help but wonder how they got the sample until he recalled her saying that the Inquistor Miclor or whatever it was had hit her, which caused her lip to be split. They probably took the sample off of some of the materials to attend to the wound. “What we managed to find out now is that the mind control technology is of Omec origin,” Taffer’s voice caught Chase’s attention once more. “The control can be overridden by saying a command in an Omec language if the preceding commands were given in English or Indojishen. I'll send the info about it to Lu as well, so she could search for someone who knows a couple of words in Omec. Can we rely on your cooperation Chase?” He didn’t know how he could answer the question, and felt the truth was the only way to go. “No, you can’t,” he replied. “But you can rely on the fact that I am willing to do anything to get Iri out of this and destroy that Omec drug. You can bet your ass you can rely on that.” Taffer looked a moment, before he rolled his eyes and shook his head. “At least you’re honest,” was the only words Taffer told him. ———————— The ride back to Red Deer felt longer heading to than it was on the return trip a few days ago. The entire time, he was wondering if Iri was okay and if he was going to see her again. If it came down to it, he would be willing to kill or even die to get her free. The fact he was going to be meeting Lu Kshaa there was a bit of mixed feelings. He tried to avoid thinking about Lu’s breasts again, which wasn’t a hard task due to the fact he was still worried about Iri. A few times he had his doubts as they were heading there. How do you know Taffer and the others weren’t lying to you? he asked himself. What if they sent you on a wild goose chase, knowing that it would keep Lady alive and Iri was still with her at whatever hole in the wall that pasty-ass bitch called her base of operations by removing you from the equation? The fact was he didn’t have any clue if they were. Chase was sure that it couldn’t have been the first lie Taffer has told someone. Hell, for all Chase knew, if it was a set up, Belle probably set Taffer up with the info and he didn’t even known he was conveying false data, all a part of a plan to keep her protege alive. She helped manufactured a monster, and she feels guilt because of it, Chase thought. That’s probably why you’re able to look at the whole situation objectively. You have no personal connection or investment in Lady. The first time you ever met her was at the base. The only word you said to her was “hello” and the only word she gave to you was ‘hi.’ Nothing more than that. You’re not clouded by that obstacle. And Belle still thinks there’s something in Lady that could be salvaged.Chase shook his head once more. If that were the case she could have simply asked him to allow her the chance, and he would have even given her his Charge Blade to do it. But then he thought about what if it wasn’t all some ploy to get him out of the way, and that they were actually trusting him in completing his task without jeopardizing everything. That meant that he was on his way to rescuing Iri and Eren and any of the other Indogenes with the group. It still didn’t mean he wasn’t going to cut his way through any and all threats just to get to her. Then the thought came into his mind. How many would you have to kill to save Iri?He pushed the question out of his head. McCoy, please play something, he asked. The VBI Player clicked on, him focusing on music to keep his nerves in check.———————— The air was quite chilly as they were escorted out of the craft. Iri followed behind Eren, both of them taking a moment to observe the barren landscape of what was Canada. There wasn’t any sign of life, which almost contradicted the statement made earlier. But then Iri recalled amongst her reading during the Pale Wars that most desert ecosystems had its fair unique features, including raining at night and nocturnal animals. Even after the terraforming event, it made sense to her that the animal activity that they had been informed of may have been correct. I hope help comes soon, Iri thought to herself. I hope Chase comes.

"Let's see how our omnipresent and omnipotent puppet master handles the situation now. Her organisation will be receiving multiple minor blows in different fronts. What will be her first choice if she tries to fix the situation. Red Deer? Edmonton? Paradise Territory?
Leaving the core of the team into fortress is a good idea, because as long as I remember then one of Inquisition's main purposes were babies. Atticus sealed them into his own little fortress inside of ours and there are lot of competent people who are able to protect them. And access to the fort is limited to reduce security risks. That should keep them safe, because I have every reason to believe in their competence. One more advantage we have, is the fact that the most stable ones remain at the home front now. That gives us some freedom of action of our own," concluded Volodja.
Since everyone went to their own paths already, including Wolfram, Volodja decided to retreat into his cabin to prepare his equipment for a field operation and since Sandy had her own quarters, Volodja sent her to the door. Sandy looked absolutely gorgeous and really feminine in her flowery dress, but she needed to transform into the soldier girl again. Dresses aren't the best thing to wear when you have to run, crawl and hide. With a hidden sigh Volodja let her enter, preparing to leave her alone until she is ready.

Still sitting in the War Room's Command chair, I was listening to EVERYTHING, although I did not let on that I could hear some, if not most, of what the two sets of lovers were saying, when Vo quit talking to and kissing Belle and turned back towards me.
"Vo, of course I will give Belle access if you want. The main reason she doesn't already have access is because I was going to move myself and the twins there to protect them from the world, before Belle and the others got back from rescuing you and... we all know, she would have tried talking me out of it. If she had access then she would have done so in person upon her return to the Fortress, just like the sometimes bossy but always loving little sister, that I have come to see her as, and I was afraid that I would................well............. Need I say it? So I felt it best that only I had access to the building. I also set it up so all incoming communications would go to voice mail and be recorded so I could screen them. Although I did make it so Lady's, Erika's, Belle's, Wolfram's and even good old Volodja's incoming calls would be patched straight to my hailer, while I am in there. Anyway we don't have to worry about that, as I didn't lock myself and the twins up in there. Wolfram helped me with the twins and I underestimated the old codger. Who knew that a psycho-babbler could actually get somebody to talk without resorting to drugs and torture? Anyway all of you can thank HIM for keeping me from locking myself and the twins away forever, at least for now."
I glanced at Wolfram, who started paying a lot more attention, when I mentioned his name. So I smiled mischievously at him and said, "Damn you! You sneaky old fart! You know this group is a very interesting bunch. I never had, wanted, or needed family or friends. Now I have both. Hell from what I have seen and researched of families, you acted a lot more like a father than a dakking psycho-babbler. Perhaps that is a good thing. I have had plenty of psychiatrists and they never helped and FEW of them LIVED long after trying to "treat, handle, and deal with me". A fatherly talk from a psycho-babbler though, that was a NEW one for me. However it has worked so far, as I am still here and still in Command for now."
Just then Taffer, who had answered a hailer call, interrupted by saying, "I think we can send Chase to do something positive for Iri now without endangering Lady. I could fly him there, but I guess it would be better if I stay with the main team. So I have to send him alone into the hands of the trusted contact we have there. And if you excuse me please, I'd better do it right now before he runs off like Atticus said or does something equally stupid."
With that said, Taffer left the War Room. Then I turned back to the others. "Anyway Vo, the building is built so well it could withstand a massive Volge attack from within or without and more importantly keep a Grid Hybrid or three, but specifically me, contained within, permanently if needed. Now back to your request about Belle. She will be granted access. While you are in Surgery, Kaj and I will see to making sure the building is fully stocked and meets all requirements, including parking the Titan in it's garage and setting up a one-way portal, to the Vigilant, in the morgue/safe room. Then I will introduce him to the twins, so he can help me take them to their new nursery. Also I will put you in my bunker's system as Co-commander for now. So you have complete control over what communications you receive and can decide who can and can not have access to the building, not to mention all other Command requirements you may need to consider, as it will be under your Command later, during your protection detail, hopefully while Belle and I are trying to reason with Lady, or if needed helping in some other way although I would prefer to see Lady soon, and the others are doing...Dak, what was decided for what everyone is doing to help handle this crisis?!"
After everyone decided on their part in dealing with the situations at hand, they all started leaving the War Room to prepare. Of course Vo and Belle were two of the first to leave, considering Vo's surgery time was close at hand. Then Wolfram, Volodja and Sandy, also left shortly after. Before long Kaj and I were the only members of the main team still in the War Room, although I knew he was also about to go start his tasks, and I would join him shortly, to make sure my babies where safely tucked into their new beds. So I dismissed him. Then I went to my building and put in Vo's, Kaj's and Belle's command codes, making sure Belle's would automatically delete from the system, upon her leaving the building, as well as making sure that those allowed into it are identified by friendlies by the automated security systems.

"That's what you are lacking here, people," said Wolfram von Eschen with a bit cynical grin, he put on to cover the fact that he was really moved. "A father figure, because you are a bunch of street urchins, when to think about it. Stray dogs looking for a kennel. Unfortunately I can't exclude myself from that list," Last line was said more silently than the rest. Man must preserve his public image.
Wolfram retreated to his office, because if he has responsibility over remaining people, then he must return to his working station. That's where they can find him if his services are needed. Volodja may come and go, because he was suited for a work in different environmental conditions because of his flexibility. Wolfram could easily imagine him in ambulatory, handling different problems and flow of patients as a one man orchestra. Wolfram himself was more stable and rigid because of his age, so he was perfect for hospital work and stable conditions. Although he was ready to act in case of sudden emergencies as well, Wolfram didn't wanted it become a habit.
After his trip to Canada his fancy leather chair felt so comfortable to sit in. Di popped in to say "Hello" and that book of Arnim was really interesting. Home sweet home! There is no place like mental asylum.

Sophie, Volodja Uljanov's sentient EGO psyche, sent her message to Sarge who's task was not only to look after Sandy as her EGO unit, but also to look tall, dark and handsome and make Sophie to blush and giggle when he was around:
"Hi Mike. Hopefully it won't take too long to change. I'd suggest to equip yourselves with the best gear you can, because Volodja is right when he tells that wherever he goes there is always a trouble waiting and I don't want ANYTHING happen to YOU. I mean Sandy and you...Darn it! Over and out."
Sophie blushed and thanked God that nobody saw her at that moment. Then she turned her whole attention to frantically cleaning up her Bottega style hideout in Volodja's mind while the mind owner thought about equipping himself for the reckon mission.
His best armour - battle proven Ark Predator with recently installed piezoelectric elements which reduced vibration and noise, making it damn good stealth armour - was in Red Deer, but he counted on his new business partners to retrieve it. He must take something from the local store to replace it. Some kind of reckon armour. His gun choice was usual - Ranger sniper rifle, a shottie and sub-machine gun, all waiting for him back at his quarters, neatly cleaned and oiled. His pistol and sapper shovel were already with him. All he had to do is to change and get the guns. And Sandy. A little correction - Sandy and the guns. His partner in love and war has always the first place in his heart.

Post by Kaj Oenfer on Sept 3, 2015 9:37:56 GMT
After he was dismissed, Kaj went to see Kara for a couple of minutes. After she gave him a kiss for "luck", Kaj knocked on the door to Wolfram's office. After Wolfram said he could enter, Kaj walked in and said, "Doctor thank you for your help. I would like you to know that I feel useful again and no longer want to "die". I already told Kara I will be gone for an important mission. I just wanted to stop in and let you know that I am feeling much better after your help, and my "field trip". Anyway I must go help Commander Batman prepare everything. So Good day, Doctor. I will see you later."
Kaj then contacted Atticus by hailer to see if he was granted access to Atticus' secured home/bunker and was assured that he was. Then Kaj contacted Taffer to get the keys for the Titan and anything that he needed to know about it. After that, he drove the Titan to the back of Atticus' building, got out and opened the garage, then returned to the Titan and drove it into the garage. Then he immediately walked outside and closed the garage door.
As he re-entered the Fortress, he got a hailer message from Atticus. Atticus informed Kaj that the portal was hooked up and fully functioning and tested and to meet him in supply. Apparently Atticus tested it by tossing a fruit through it and contacting Lexxy. When she assured him that the fruit did appear on board, he then stepped through the portal to further test it. After appearing aboard the Vigilant, he retrieved his fruit. Then he ate it as he headed to the Supply.
Kaj was talking to the supply officer, when Atticus arrived. So Kaj said, "Commander, Mr. Franks says your crates are ready, and right here." Atticus opened all four crates and looked through them carefully to make sure their contents were safe, un-tampered with and all there. Kaj noted that all the supplies that were in the crates, were baby supplies. As Atticus repacked the crates, Kaj asked if they needed to get any other supplies and was informed that Atticus had already verified that all the other required supplies were already fully stocked in his secured home bunker. All they needed were the four crates of baby supplies. Then to pick up the twins of course.
Kaj nodded and picked up the two crates he was directed to, with Atticus picking up the other two. Then they went to the building, and entered it. Atticus set his two crates down, and grabbed one of Kaj's. He set the one from Kaj in the main sitting area near the rolling Twin Cot Cribs that he had there. Next he opened it and stocked the changing table with all the supplies from the now empty crate.
Atticus then picked his two crates back up and Kaj followed Atticus upstairs to the nursery. Kaj proceeded to help Atticus fully stock the nursery shelves and changing table, and it's adjoining bathroom, with the contents of the three remaining crates.
After they were done, Atticus and Kaj put the now empty crates in his garage. Then Atticus gave Kaj a quick tour of the building, with the exception of the infirmary, as Doctor Orion, Vo and Belle were in there. After the tour, Atticus and Kaj went back to the Fortress. They went to the private room the twins were in, and Atticus introduced him to the babies. Then he gave the purple Giant and the twins a couple of minutes to get used to each other. Afterwards, Atticus picked up Caprice and Kaj retrieved Cosmin. Then they went back to Atticus' home bunker. They placed the twins in the cribs in the sitting area. Atticus went back into the Command room long enough to give the Holographic doctor, Di, access to the building, then rejoined Kaj in the sitting area.
As he did so, he could smell the odor from both diapers, and chuckled when he saw that the purple giant smelled it and made a face as he realized just what he was smelling. Di appeared just as Atticus started to teach Kaj how to change the diapers. She smiled at how well Atticus was doing, and chuckled at how Kaj kept fumbling over his big hands until he finally got the hang of it. Surprisingly to Kaj, he managed to change a diaper without poking himself or Cosmin, despite his trouble in the beginning. Although at first he did not see the humor in Cosmin "showering" him, as Atticus and Di laughed. However unlike Atticus' firsthand boy changing experience, after Kaj was done changing Cosmin and realized how funny it must have looked, Kaj DID chuckle slightly at it.

Post by Lady Christianna on Sept 3, 2015 12:04:15 GMT
"Mommy, don't you love us anymore" Said the voice in the dark.
Lady Christianna, self-styled Mistress of Sorrow, looked around the empty dark room from her bed in the Presidio. Suddenly she saw a dot of green light that got bigger, or closer. Lady could be sure which was true. Suddenly the green light took the form of a mop headed little girl of about five years old, floating with her feet about a yard off the ground, her green hair falling in front of her electric blue eyes. Lady sat up like a bolt of lightening, her mouth forming a small "O", her pink eyes large in shock at the unexpected arrival of the avatar of her infant daughter, Caprice.
"Love you and Cosmin - why I'm doing this. Make a safer, better, world. Utopia," Said Lady, regaining her composure as she remembered Iri's word for Eden, which she liked even better for it flowed off the tongue in a pleasant way to her.
"Is that why you are doing this Mommy?" Asked Caprice with a mischievous smile.
"So I'm worthy of Atticus," Admitted Lady with a pout.
"Is that why you are doing this Mommy?" Asked Caprice with a mischievous smile.
"Okay, maybe just for me, so have legacy, since you two won't have any of my genes. Want to do something so people will remember ME," Said Lady with a frown.
"Is that why you are doing this Mommy?" Asked Caprice with a mischievous smile.
Lady woke up with a start, alone in her bed, unsure if Caprice's visit was a dream or not, with her hailer ringing.
Lady picked it up, and a male voice on the other end informed her, "It's done."
Lady hung up the hailer, stared into the dark with wide pink eyes, and asked herself silently, "Why AM I doing this?"

Sandy Bell kissed Volodja Uljanov before leaving to her quarters to change, whispering in his ear with a grin before she left, "Let's think about changing our living arrangements when the mission is over. No use tying up two living accommodations when one will do."
Sandy hurried to her quarters down the hallway, her flower print dress fluttering behind her as she fled, hoping she was not being too forward. Volodja was a European gentlemen, and Sandy had heard that European woman were much more demure than American women, and being a soldier by profession mad Sandy even more brash than most American women, or so she supposed. In truth, she didn't really know. Before joining this team of adventurers, she had never been outside of the continental United States, so was not very worldly, especially when compared with her world travelling lover.
Upon entering her quarters, Sandy quickly changed into her camouflaged light armor, regretfully hanging up her flowered dress in her closet. She got her Ironclad shield, preferring it to other because it had a higher capacity than most, but also needing more time to recharge if it broke. Her philosophy on defense was to eliminate the treat before the shield broke, so she liked a shield that stayed working while she took the offensive. She decided to change out her weapons to a Piper Assault weapon and GL-X Corrupter Detonator with plate slicer synergy, her favorite load out when going on expeditions and for the PVP arenas. Once she was ready, she glanced in the mirror, giving herself a quick nod of approval, and headed to Volodja's quarters to find out what the plan of action was.

As Volodja thought, his weapons were in excellent condition and he had plenty of ammo at his disposal. He decided to use Omega recon outfit without a headgear for the mission. He had one in the locker at his quarters so there was no need to visit armoury and while he was busy pulling it on, he sensed that someone had entered to his apartment. In a matter of second he turned around and grabbed intruder. If you don't react fast then you will be dead, as his experience had taught him. Grab and disarm your opponent first, ask questions later. That keeps you alive.
His brown eyes widened when he saw that he captured his girlfriend Sandy Bell and smile appeared to his handsome face, before pulling her against his bare chest, kissing her lips and saying after releasing the lip lock but not releasing his hands around her firm and feminine body:
"I didn't expect to see you so soon. But I love what I see. You look amazing even in uniform, my soldier girl. I hope that I wont upset you by saying that firstly you are a gorgeous girl and being a soldier comes next. I am almost done...with kissing you. Dressing will be quicker than kissing. I promise." And he kissed Sandy once more, before he released his his hands and continued dressing.
"I been thinking about what you said," Volodja continued. "You are right - having two places is too posh. And...would you do me a honour and share this palace with me with all it's conveniences like EGO emitters, decent bathroom and...." He didn't dare to mention his King size bed with silk sheets, because it would have been too impolite. Volodja could have been happy living in his crate as long as Sandy was with him, but his apartment in Commanding officer's wing seemed to be much better place for Sandy than aforementioned crate. He can even keep his books close and selection of wine and beer if Sandy prefers that. And there is plenty of room in his closets for her clothes. And weapons. And shields. Although he must warn her about something she was already aware of.
"I do hope that you won't mind sharing your life and living place with a lonesome bookworm," he said. "I spent too much time alone so I have a lot to learn about living together with someone special like you. I don't want to disappoint you."
"Now the plan," he continued, holding Sandy's hand in his, hoping that she wasn't mind of such intimacies. "We are going to scout because we need some Intel about Inquisitor's plans. I'd prefer that negotiation between Atticus and his wife could occur outside of the Presidio bunker, because negotiating in possible mouse trap might end up pretty bad, but if we can't have Lady outside then we need every piece of data about Inquisition's security measures there as well in case we have to break in there and bring everyone out, including hostages. And as I told you before, my girl, if you have better ideas then you can share them with me. I have full confidence in you, my love."

Belle Starr sat nervously holding VO Kshaa' s hand as Dr. Orion prepped Vo for the operation that would return his eye to him. She successfully fought off the waves of anxiety that assaulted her, concentrated on watching the details of the operation preparations, the pungent smells of antiseptics, the beeping sounds of the monitoring machines, and of course, the warm feel of Vo's hand grasping hers. All of her enhanced senses were at work at once, helping her to be too distracted to be distressed, for her primary concern was for Vo's health, and she didn't want her presence in the operation room to change from being a good thing to being a very, very bad thing indeed!
*****
From what I've heard about the Presidio, there is only one physical way in, the front door," Said Sandy Bell to Volodja as she tugged on her ear lobe as she thought, "However... every underground bunker needs air, so... maybe the air vents may be a good egress into the bunker... since it was Dark Matter, maybe one of their teleport portals cold get us in, if there are any active ones inside."
Sandy frowned, "I wish I could be of more help, but that's all I can think of."
*****
Lena Marr grinned wickedly to Marcel and said, "What do your think? To the Presidio then? Race you to the car! "
Lena on the sly had Hope, her EGO psyche, prepare her blur power so that she could get a fast, if unfair start.
*****
Erika Widowmaker grimly waited in front of the throne room door, sharpening her two handed sword with a large whetstone.
*****
Lady Christianna waited on her throne of skulls, waiting for her minions to report. All four of the terra spires were almost ready to be simultaneously triggered, and her new capital city was almost ready with her soon to be loyal subjects. Lady had thought of renaming her newly terra-formed territory Sorrowland, but that sounded too much like a board game she had played as a small child. Brody had said she should call her new kingdom Christianna, but that sounded too religious to her. Lady had finally settled on the name Attica, after her beloved husband, not knowing the irony in that was the name of a infamous 20th century prison.

Vo smiled when Atticus said he would give Belle access and thanked him for his trust when Atticus said he would put Vo as a Co-commander in his bunker's system. He was glad to be in control of the events throughout the bunker, but it also meant a great responsibility, especially because it was all done to protect the kids. "Guess failure is not an option now", he said to Belle as he took her hand again and then they started their walk to the infirmary in Atticus's bunker. They took it in a rather slow pace, leaving some time for Atticus to get there first and enter their access codes so that they won't have to wait at the door. They talked on some unrelated topics, as Vo was trying to keep Belle's mind away from all the problems at hand she had now on her shoulders, and his own mind clean of thoughts of the challenge he was about to come through. All the heavy thoughts returned to him when he entered the infirmary and breathed in all the smells of medical substances there. "I wonder if Sandy felt the way I feel now", he muttered, knowing for sure it was much worse for her when she was about to die to give Belle's beautiful body back to its owner. He stroked Belle's blond hair and then turned his face to her, giving her a last hug and a kiss before they met Dr. Orion. Then Vo went all serious, making sure everything is ready. "Shirra, scan the equipment here and make sure you can assist doctor in any possible way." "Already done", Shirra replied, appearing as a holographic image of a girl with a spiky Mohawk haircut, dressed in her usual belly shirt and shorts. As she walked around the room, she caught doctor's disapproving look. She threw up her hands and her image flashed, forming a lab coat around her and a medical mask on her face. "Better now?" She asked with a smile as Dr. Orion only shook his head. Meanwhile, she passed her holographic hand through the glass jar where Vo's eye was contained. "It's ready to be implanted", she confirmed with a slight tremble in her voice. "Let's not delay it any further", Vo said as he undressed and lay down on the bench, putting his limbs into the restrains which were already assembled there. He shook his head as he estimated their strength and asked Shirra to turn off his EGO powers in case he'd inadvertently activate them and thus break the restrains. "EGO powers off, regeneration protocols at maximum, painkillers ready, nanite remote controls engaged", Shirra reported trying to hide her nervousness behind the words she frequently used. Belle sat at his left side so that she won't interfere with doctor's actions at the Vo's right side. As she took Vo's hand, he grabbed her wrist, allowing her to do the same. He was afraid he could squeeze her hand too hard and cause her pain which he didn't want to. Dr. Orion restrained his head too and put a plastic tube between his teeth to keep him from screaming. As he felt a sharp needle going through his skin near his eyelid, he took a deep breath knowing what will happen next. As Orion's laser scalpel started to cut his eye socket open, he squeezed Belle's wrist and pressed the back of his head into the head pad of the bench to keep his head from moving. A single tear coming out from his healthy eye showed how much pain he was in that time. Shirra applied as much painkillers as she could, but without impeding her rehabilitation process as she knew the faster she could finish her job, the less pain her host would have to endure. Due o Shirra's efforts, the pain became tolerable soon, but when the eye was finally inserted into the socket and Shirra started to connect the nerves to it, a painfully bright light covered Vo's vision as he felt his brain was burning inside out.
He didn't remember how much time has passed since the terraforming blast had overturned the truck he was kept in, which allowed him to escape into the freshly terraformed wilderness. Judging by the new moon raising from behind a mountain, it could be a month already. He was making his way through the jungle, habitually picking up berries from the plants the smell from which indicated them to be edible. To his left it was saberwolves' territory, and to the right he could see Keinti's nesting place. Those two predators were not friendly to each other, so usually it was relatively safe to tread on the border between their territories. He also smelled a fresh water source and that's where he was aiming. Soon he came up to the river and he put his hands into water, feeling its pleasant coolness. For some reason he had his right eye itching so he washed it with water. When he raised his head, he saw a float going down the river with a girl sitting on it in the lotus position. Vo submerged into water and after a short swim he climbed onto the float. "Hello Shirra", he whispered in the girl's ear, "Could you please tell me what I am doing here? And what you're doing here too?" "You passed out", she answered in impassive voice, "It's a dream and you know it. I'm trying to maintain the energy balance to keep you alive and maintain the rehabilitation process at the same time. That happened to be much harder than I expected." "Ask Belle to give you some energy then. Or ask her to bring my regeneration shield here. It should be in the back of my jacket." "Sorry Vo, but all communications are cut to save on energy." "That's idiotic", Vo started to get nervous, "Master override!" "Sorry Vo, but you can't apply the override as you're unconscious. I can't follow orders given by someone in unconscious state." "Then, you can make your own decision about it. And don't tell me you can't just go out and call for help because you've done exactly that not so long ago." "Hmm, I guess I should call for help then", Shirra raised her forefinger as if it was her own idea.
