Chase had found himself on familiar ground once again, it only having been no more than a day since he left. It was like going in circles, trading over the same tracks until one set of footsteps were indistinguishable from one another. His shoes hit the ground when the craft, his eyes scanning the area. He didn't find Lu Kshaa, which he knew he was going to have to wait.
On the bench once more, the same spot that he sat after being told that his memories would never come back while he was still alive. The thought had crossed his mind that he was no longer bound to who he used to be, to the ghost of a man he never knew. Sitting there, his realization that he could choose to be anything he wanted came. If he had known that what he wanted to be was never going to happen, and that the path he was on was one that fate had placed him on.
When you stare into the abyss long enough, the abyss stares back, he recalled something Marcus told him.
When he first heard that, he had no understanding of what Marcus meant. It was only until recently did he have an idea of its meaning, though still with uncertainty. He knew the only truth there was: there were no heroes, only villains. He knew the rules now, and he was going to play as hard as the enemy he was facing or harder.
They shoot you in the knee, you take off their leg. They stun you, you fry them. They kidnap Iri, you take their jondura. For every inch of harm they do to her, every inch of their flesh you take. I am awake now. You are either a villain or a victim. You will not be a victim anymore, especially for her.
--------
Iri tried to think of anything else while working on the terraspire. She was trying to get to the thousandth number placement of the Pi calculation, but it didn't help. Anything she could do to try to not think about repairing the device, or how to repair it. It was as if her body was bypassing her personality and free will at that moment to allow the work to continue. Iri could see how much of a problem was forming as her body worked on with her in the passenger seat. Any Indogene was familiar with the destruction just one of the terraspire can cause. Yet, Lady had almost four functional ones, and Iri dreaded what that Castithan planned on doing with them.
In order to create, you have to destroy, she thought to herself. And with four of these, she's planning on destroying something big.
She was trying to connect a wire when it shocked her. Iri yanked her hand back, cursing in native tongue. The pain subsided, allowing her to shake her hand and get back to work.
Eren was on the other side of the device, also working as well.
"This one is coming along rather quickly," Eren comment. "If I had to guess, less than twelve hours to complete the work on it."
"Not helping, Eren," Iri replied. "That means that in less than twelve hours, this thing will be running and Lady's going to be one step closer to initiating the next part of her plan, whatever that may be. And I fear what orders these Inquisitors have when we're done fixing these things."
"I do as well. Out of all of the Indogenes collected, Lady had us chosen because we didn't have anyone or had human lovers. I suspect that she singled us because the others had families, namely Indogene families. Her approach is strangely similar to the southern United States prior to what was called the Civil War. She has selected us to work because we are the most expendable, while the ones she kept with her can serve as breeding stock."
"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it," Iri concluded. "And I handed her the ultimate tool to enslave our species."
"Do not blame yourself. You're not the one who developed it."
"But I am the one who dug it up. That is on my head."
"And quite a pretty head it is."
Iri went silent for a moment, peeking around the terraspire to look at Eren. She couldn't believe that Eren had made the comment, and was curious to her.
"Are you hitting on me?"
"Only slightly, yes," Eren responded. "But, I am curious about why you chose to be with a human."
"Probably the same reason why you chose Rosa."
Eren came around the terraspire to swap tools.
"Companionship, I understand. But when it comes to carnal desire, you chose a human male as oppose to a human female. Statistically, it makes sense to choose a female because of how familiar they are to the female form."
Iri finished connecting the cables, turning to Eren.
"For carnal pleasures, Chase happens to be pretty good with his hands. And his tongue. Amongst others things," Iri finally explained, though feeling slightly uncomfortable talking about it while being watched by one of the Inquisitors.
Eren returned around the side of the device as they continued to work.
"I do not mean to put you in any uncomfortable position," Eren explained. "But since it is a bit chilly in here right now, later on when they allow us to sleep, it will be pretty cold."
"Let me guess, you have difficulty sleeping without someone next to you."
"Correct," was the only response she heard come from Eren.
"I understand. I am the same way. The past couple of months had been taxing on me because Chase would wait for me to fall asleep and then he would get up and leave the room, often going to another room to sleep. He was often unaware that I would wake up to not notice him there and had troubles falling back asleep. The only real sleep I would end up with is after he had returned to bed in the morning. Do you have that problem with Rosa?"
"I'm afraid I do not."
"To address your question, yes, we can cuddle up tonight. But only under one condition."
"What is that?"
"I'm the one being spooned. I feel comfortable being spooned. And no skin-on-skin contact. I think we'd both regret screwing our brains out when we're trying to be faithful to our humans."
"I agree to the condition."
"It's settled then."

"Having a portal with us is actually and interesting idea. I never believe that Mistress of Judgement uses a mouse trap as a headquarters. Not her style. There must be another way in and last time THEY used Dark Matter portals. I think that we should get one as well to ourselves. I see couple of ways of getting one. I am not going to take one of ours along, because we have a limited supply and wasteland is full of abandoned, but still functional equipment. Or we could visit my old friend Tommasino and use his help to get a portal for our needs, because creating another bloodshed over getting equipment, is not exactly my style." Volodja looked deeply into her beautiful blue eyes and continued: "No way we are going to enter that bunker without a chance to get the hell out of there when situation turns to be too hot for us to handle. I love you Sandy. Don't want to lose you, don't want to use you as I used to say. And if I could, I would make you to stay here in relative safety of our fortress instead of dragging you into my affairs. But at least we are together and maybe we can break the bad luck. You and I. Are you ready, my love, my life?"

Post by Taffer on Sept 4, 2015 11:06:58 GMT
After instructing Kaj on Titan's ins and outs, which didn't take long since originally it was an EMC vehicle, Taffer went to the spaceship to instruct Lexy on her part in the presumptive rescue mission. He sat in the pilot seat, invoking the 3D model of Earth wit their current position marked on it.
"Okay Lexy, I need you to listen carefully to what I say next. In case of emergency evacuation, the highest priority of all our actions would be protecting the kids. Cosmin and Caprice will be transferred to you via the portal which Atticus has just activated. It will be my part to bring Mala and Frond here safely as well. If we had at least some luck, there would be a pilot on board, supposedly me or Chloe. But in case we won't not make it here, you'll have to perform the evacuation maneuver yourself. This includes taking off, getting into sub-orbital flight and landing at the safe place. Lexy, can you do it by yourself?"
Lexy's avatar clapped her hands in anticipation of going to another adventure. "I've never done it before, but I'll try my best!"
"Lexy, it's not about trying your best, it's about if you can do it or not. I have to know for sure if it's possible as I have to plan the safe evacuation."
"I'm running the simulation now. You know Captain Taffer, I've learned a lot from you, Lady and Chloe. Okay, now I know for sure I can do it! For real Captain, you can rely on me!"
"Great. Now to set up destination points", Taffer scanned the Earth's model with his eyes, "Your first landing point is here, in Freedom. Land near the Cowboys' Ranch. They are good people and have enough firepower to protect the kids in case you'd been attacked. The secondary point is…"
Taffer hesitated, trying to figure out what could be the second place in case Bay Area and Freedom were no longer safe. Defiance is out of the question with all that invasion of VC troops and Omec incident. South America is not safe because Skarr is still in power. Red Deer and Alaska were marked as points of interest in that Inquisitors' map, so if the Bay Area is unsafe due to their activity, those areas will be not safe too. He turned the globe around and pointed at another continent.
"Eastern Russia, Nakhodka city", he said with a sigh, pointing at the city located near the sea shore. "Use this destination point as a last resort. They have a powerful radar that works as a radio station now, so you can use it as a navigation beacon in case the satellite positioning fails. It will take some time for us to find you there, but if anyone of us survives, fill get there eventually. Until then, you'll have to rely on kindness of the locals to care for the kids. Just send out the S.O.S. and they will find you."
"If everything else fails, go around the Earth and follow the beacon! Got it! Seems simple enough to remember!", Lexy exclaimed, seemingly pleased by the fact she was trusted with such a complex task, which included the life preservation of the most precious members of the team.
Once Taffer was done entering the mission parameters, he called Atticus personally by his hailer and informed of the destination points where Vigilant will land if she had to evacuate the kids from the base with no pilots on board. Given the sensitivity of the matter, he decided to inform other team and family members when he meets them personally.

After Kaj and I had changed the twins, I laid them in their cribs in the sitting room. Caprice had quickly snuggled up to her blankie and drifted off to sleep. However Cosmin was still wide awake. So I picked him up and sat in a chair and held him. Besides I hadn't held been able to hold him as much as I had Caprice, due to the fact that he was not allowed out of his incubation crib right away, while she was. So While Kaj and Di got used to the building and had a friendly conversation, I placed my helmet on the table next to me, leaving my face only covered by my mask.
As I sat my helm down, my hailer chimed so I answered it and Taffer informed me of the destination points where Vigilant will land if she had to evacuate the kids from the base with no pilots on board. I agreed to it, and hung up, before he could here the stress, and depression of the situation, starting to surface in me again. Then I sat back and quietly held and bonded with my son, while his sister slept peacefully. Eventually he did drift off to sleep. However I continued to sit there and hold my now sleeping son, as I waited for Belle to come get me, when she was finally ready for us to leave on whatever task she felt we should do. Although I still hoped it would be to convince Lady to come home, even though I was still secretly terrified that I would never be able to successfully do so and that I would lose both her and my older sister forever. Of course sitting there quietly with my son, gave me too much time with my thoughts and I could once again feel the darkness trying to draw me back into it's hateful embrace.
All I could do was fight it and hope the love for my children and their mother would be enough to keep me from fading back into that dark embrace forever. It would me much easier if Lady were with me though, as I am not sure how much longer I can fight it or if I still want to. Of course looking down at Cosmin's sleeping face, then over at his sleeping sister was enough to make me realize that I couldn't, and no longer wanted to, surrender myself completely to the darkness, if not for myself then for their sakes. So all I could do was hold Cosmin, feeling some comfort with him in my arms and Caprice sleeping peacefully nearby, and silently pray that Lady would come back to us, and mentally call out her name and hope that she could feel and realize just how much the twins and, especially, I need her to come back to us. For without her, I could feel that I was indeed fading, and despite Kakusi's help, I was not sure how much longer our combined willpower would be enough to keep my monstrous nature at bay.

"Lena, my love. You are preparing to run, I see," said Marcel. "Pick a nice set of wheels for us when you reach there. And I will make this race more....interesting,"he muttered, seeing Lena Blurring away. He weighted small package in his tan hand and said thoughtfully. I wonder...how this reacts with petrohol? Used to work with gasoline really well. Time to try it out. Pourquoi ne pas. Everything is permitted."
Marcel jogged into the garage, sneaked to Volodja's metallic coloured Dodge Challenger, opened the fuel tank lid and poured contents of the package into it. Then he looked for Lena Marr, his lover and partner in crime and slid into the car she had picked, landing next to her and kissing her passionately while his hand squeezed her ample breast. "For a luck, honey," he stated after he finally removed his thin lips from her lush ones. "Let us go now. Pretty please with sugar on the bottom of the tank."

Post by Belle Starr on Sept 4, 2015 12:19:52 GMT
Dr. Orion said, "Hmmmmm."
"What's the matter Doctor?" Asked Belle Starr, concern obviously in her voice as the anxiety again built up threatening to overwhelm her.
"My monitors show that Vo's EGO is struggling with keeping Vo's condition from deteriorating," Reported Dr. Orion. "I'm doing everything I can to keep him stable on my end, but I'm not really able to help his EGO anymore than I can."
"I can help with that!" Belle exclaimed, then spoke to Alfred, her EGO psyche, through the telepathic link they shared, "Alfred, send Shirra all the energy she needs and help her in any way you can to save Vo."
"Are you sure you wish to do that, my dear?" Alfred balked at the idea, "Any energy I use in that way will be taking away from that used to keep your panic attacks at bay! If you are worried about companionship, I can tell Volodja still cares about you with just a cursory glimpse at his vitals when he looks at you, and he is much better suited for you! Highly educated and cultured, much more your match that this Irathiant mechanic. I think - "
"SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE AND DO YOUR JOB!" Belle yelled mentally at her EGO. "VO IS MY TRUE LOVE, AND THAT IS THAT! GET USED TO IT YOU YAHOOT! NOW I'M COMMANDING YOU TO SAVE VO IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE, EVEN IF Y'ALL HAVE TO DRAIN MY VERY LIFE FORCE! GOT IT BUCKO!"
"Clear as a bell," Answered Alfred, mentally sighing and virtually rolling his eyes, "Energy sent, and your life force remains intact, unlike your virginity. Your Genie has done as you demanded, as always!"
"Yeah, right!" Thought Belle to herself, feeling the anxiety building in herself.
Dr. Orion noticed the sweat building on Belle's pale forehead and that she appeared to be gasping for breath, although she was gritting her teeth trying not show the growing panic attack. Dr. Orion was not an expert in human psychology by any means, but he did know human physiology, and felt her problem was mental not physical, so he hailed Wolfram Von Eschlen on the sly, saying to Wolfram, "Wolfram, unless you are busy, would you please come to Atticus' bunker immediately. I believe Director Starr could use your help, and I have to concentrate on Mr. Kshaa. You still have entrance privileges, don't you? Otherwise be sure and get them from Commander Batman."

Lena blurred to the garage, looking at the cars in the base garage for the fastest one her, sky blue eyes narrowing and a wicked grin crossing her pretty Castithan face as she spotted Taffer's silver Challenger that they had just returned, and said, "Bingo!"
Lena jury-rigged the ignition and had the car started by the time Marcel arrived, stating cheerfully, "What Lena giveth, Lena taketh away!"
Then Lena and Marcel raced out of the base garage toward the Presidio in the fastest car of the Bay Area.

Post by Wolfram von Eschen on Sept 4, 2015 12:36:27 GMT
"All right. I will be on my way," replied Wolfram laconically. " After closing his hailer hi just stared it for a second. He just put his arsch down after the trip and there is already an emergency to handle. And I won't send Volodja there. Nein! No chance. No way. No, no! He gets more hurt and that's it and I am not the one who points him the door of the slaughterhouse."
And Wolfram rushed to the rescue. His tall figure achieved remarkable speed when he moved along the crowd, yelling: "We got an emergency here so let me THROUGH, you dummkopfs!" Finally he reached the door, gasped some air and with slightly trembling hand entered the access code, given him after the hailer call to the owner of the cage. Call was sort of short and sweet and readers digest version sounded like this: "Give me the verfluchte access code or I will blow up the door! Nobody stops me from helping my patients!" Guess that his direct approach helped, because code was given and he could enter.
Before doing anything else, he made a another quick call. This time it was to Volodja and they had a quick consultation session about panic attacks, because after Dr. Orion described the symptoms - shortness of breath, shaking and sweating and so on - he was sure that Belle suffered from them.
There was no time for long continuous therapy as Wolfram was used with and that meant only one thing - he must consult the experienced field counsellor Volodja Uljanov, owner of broken heart and encyclopaedic memory. Even if Wolfram could not send Volodja into the lion cage, he can ask for advice. No names were mentioned, of course. After few minutes he was confident and what's most important - got his breathing rhythm back after that run.
"Hello, Liebchen," said Wolfram. "I already see what is going on here and first we will handle your breathing. I want you to put one hand on your upper chest, and the other over your diaphragm. The place where your rib cage meets your stomach. You are not any help here if you are in panic so FOLLOW my suggestions!
Take in a slow, deep breath through your nose while counting to five, Liebchen. The hand on the chest should stay still, while the one over your diaphragm should raise with your breath. This is how you know the breath is deep enough. Just keep your hands limp. No tension in them whatsoever.
When you reach the count of five, let the breath out slowly through your nose at the same rate. Concentrating on your hands and the counting will help focus you and calm you down, Fräulein Belle. Clear your mind of anything else than breathing. Continue these breaths until you feel relaxed. We are progressing. Great!" Belle's breathing became slower and deeper, so Wolfram decided that now they can begin with a second phase.
"Relax your muscles now. Close your eyes. Gut!: Now you have to begin to focus solely on your toes. Curl them under tightly for a count of five, squeezing the muscles together as hard as you can, then relax. One, two, three, four, five. Keep counting and curling. Next, concentrate on your feet. Contract all of their muscles tightly for a count of five, then relax. Continue up your body, isolating each muscle group all the way up to your face. By the time you relax your face muscles, you should feel much more calm. It's purposeful action after all and simple thing are always the best. No other thoughts than your muscles.
And now one more tip, because we can't arrange a group therapy here or do some yoga. It's time to put your peripheral vision into the good use. Let your field of vision broaden until you can see from the outside corners of your eyes. Breathe deeply and let your jaw muscles relax. This exercise activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which calms your body. At moment it's all I can help you with. We will have to deal with that issue later in more advanced way, but if you feel anxiety again then start with the complex of exercises again. And now, if you don't ind I will try to regain my breathing as well and figure out how to pay to my consultant."

Volodja put his hailer away and explained to Sandy: "It was Wolfram. He needed a quick confirmation to the things, he already knows. Somebody had a panic attack but I am sure that Wolfram can handle it now. Let's go, my girl. Our car should be right here." Even if he guessed about whom Wolfram was talking when he asked for advice, although no names were mentioned, his face seemed to remain calm (his eyes reflected pain only for a split second and it didn't matter how hurt he feels inside - he was asked to help and so he did and no way he is going to upset Sandy with his pain which eventually will go away when Sandy and Volodja are together and keep loving each other), when he stepped to the metallic Dodge Challenger.
Unfortunately the car didn't started. Not in first or second or third attempt. Looking under the hood wasn't very helpful either. Nothing seemed to be wrong with the car until they discovered some white crystals on the floor. Crystals were suspiciously near the gas tank lid, so Volodja put his forefinger into his mouth and took couple of them to his fingertip. He examined crystals and suddenly tasted them with his tongue. "Sweet," he muttered, although his handsome face didn't reflected sweetness of the situation not to mention sweetness of that matter on his finger. "Sugar. And if we connect sugar with the car we get a sabotaged vehicle. I wonder who could do that. Sophie dear..."
"Working on the case already, Volodja. Traces of the DNA left on the lid reveal presence of Marcel Lestrange."
"Marcel," said Volodja. "I should have known. Obviously he didn't poured sugar into the fuel tank from pure meanness. It's not his way. He usually doesn't do anything without purpose, considering pranks to be waste of time and energy. And suddenly....Wait a minute. He is really competitive. He probably rushed to the bunker, trying to beat us there. Logical it seems to be. And he took...Which car she took, Sophie. Check the storage list and compare it with cars in the garage...I see. Fastest car around is at their disposal. We never catch them on time unless...Sophie dear. Check every single vehicle in fortress and if you see anything useful with reasonable owner who is willing to...You are an angel, Sophie...Where was I? Oh, yes. Unless we are going to use plane which belongs to Marcel and Lena. Sounds fair enough - he sabotaged our vehicle to get an unfair advantage. But we need someone who can fly it."
"I can," said Sandy. "And I will, because if Marcel fucked up your car, we have every damn right to commandeer his plane. And...sorry about the language. It's hard to change the way I am used to speak."
"You are a rare pearl, Sandy. Beautiful and talented. Let's go, my love," replied Volodja.
Hand in hand they run to the hangar and entered into Marcel's small plane. Soon the plane rolled out, ready for taking off with Sandy on the pilot seat and Volodja sitting next to her. Planes, Trains & Automobiles. No matter how fast car you may have, but you have to compete with an air-plane then your chances to win a race are remarkably reduced.

Post by Luuzuk Kshaa on Sept 4, 2015 19:08:52 GMT
"Let me see if I got this right", said Lu with a grim look on her face, staring at Ada with her unblinking cyan eyes, "You have an almost working terraspire in the Ark at Edmonton. You have a bunch of kidnapped Indogenes which were recently transported there. And finally, there's a drug somewhere which turns any Indogene into a submissive slave. What a nice combination, don't you think? Then, why the jek the Inner Circle does absolutely nothing about it? Where's the quarantine? Where's an army of Monoliths attacking the Ark? Where are searching squads seeking for the drug suppliers? Where's the S.O.S sent to the Empire, damn it?!" "Well, I understand your frustration, but there's one problem with the Inner Circle", Ada answered calmly, but drumming her fingers on the table was giving away her nervousness. "Its members were elected the most trusted and experienced people of our kind, it's not surprising that most of them are rather old. And that means… All of them had experienced the effect of this drug. All of them, except me. Once they knew it still exists and it's possible to produce or get it by other means, don't expect any logical decisions from them. They will do anything to get their dose first and make its flow constant after. They just don't care about anything else anymore. They will use any means to fulfill their new old desire. If that means enslaving all the people who trust them, they will go for it without any second thought. Waiting for them to do anything against it is absolutely futile. That's why I'm here, desperately asking for help." "Jekking perfect. Absolutely perfect I must say. Esthete, do you have a plan on the situation if the members of the Inner Circle become influenced by the enemy or the criminal group madness or illness or something like that?" "Yes I have one", Esthete replied, "But I don't have enough evidence they are under influence. I need an order to analyze their actions." "You have the order, Esthete", Ada said. "As a member of Inner Circle I order to start investigation on all members of Inner Circle on suspicion of being drug addicts and being under influence of drug dealers." "Thank you Ada", Esthete said impassively. "Processing personal files and correspondence. The analysis indicates five of six members of Inner Circle have a drug addiction and are unable to make decisions being under influence of hypothesized drug dealers. All further orders from the said members are considered null and void. You Ada are the only exclusion from the list, although your extended time spent with Lax Huch, the Empire Ambassador, needs further investigation. Given that more than a half of Inner Circle members are oust from power, I'm switching to the autonomous mode. I have to warn you about something though. Regardless of who gives the orders to me, I can't attack the Ark at Edmonton and its inhabitants or alter its functioning in any way. It's a leftover of my old programming when I was controlling the Ark, and this directive was left as a safeguard since this settlement was meant to provide support to the research group at the Ark." "You need an "A" added at the beginning of your acronym name since you got autonomous, Esthete", Lu said to the drone. Ada smiled at the joke for a second but got serious again as Lu started to enumerate things she needed for her next venture. "Full tank of petrohol, two inflatable motorized boats, Vysudium charges, C-4 charges, two high-capacity shields, three more rebreather units and the little order I placed earlier. I'm going to meet my team mate, who's arriving to the airfield, and then we're going to Edmonton. You Ada are going to take your rebreather from the storage as I guess with what had been done there's no point for conspiration anymore. Then you take cover at Esthete's residence. Last time I've been there I saw several sections which looked like they were airtight. It has a back door to the underground; you can use it to escape. If you have time, call Fiel, I think he still lives there. He's a little paranoid but in our circumstances I think it's a rather good thing. Once you get yourself into safety, try to convince your new Bioman friend to help. And you Esthete try to convince your father-programmer to write off that directive that prevents you from dealing with that Ark. That would help us a lot if he manages to do that." "Your little order will be here right… now", Esthete said as the hovering drone brought in the package. Lu unwrapped it immediately and they saw it was a modified magazine section for her rocket launcher. "Six rockets are better than four", she explained, setting up the mod. "Now I'm going to the storage to get everything else and you better have it ready by the time I get there as my friend is arriving and he's not in the mood of waiting for too long. Good luck to us all, we'll need it." With that said she exited the team's spaceship and started her Hellblazer, first to visit the storage and then to race to the airfield to meet Chase. She found him sitting on the bench and she greeted him with a simple wave of her hand. As she came up to him, she said, "Hi Chase. I've heard what happened to your girlfriend so I apologize for making you wait for too long because I understand that in your case any period time is too long. Had to get some supplies. I'll compensate it by flooring the pedal all the way until we get to our destination, so get in, I'll brief you with the details on our way." As the truck raced to the north, Lu showed the map of underground channels projected on the windshield. "We go here by wheels", she pointed at what remained of North Saskatchewan River. "Then we go underground and this river takes us straight to the Ark at Edmonton. Actually, we could get there all the way underground by taking different creek and rivers, but it will be faster this way. We still can use the underground path later for retreat if we need. That's why I took the second boat. Then we get in, find your girl and sabotage whatever they are forcing them to do. I can bet they are working on the terraspire. I have rebreathers for us all and a shield for your girl. I also have one rebreather and a shield in case we could manage to rescue someone else. If we got lucky, we'll free all Indogenes from there at once. If not, then we get your girl out to safety, then regroup and plan our next move based on what he would see there. Any suggestions? I'm not a commander here, so suggest anything you think will help us."

Post by Sandy Bell on Sept 4, 2015 19:35:37 GMT
"You don't know how to fly a plane, Captain," Sternly admonished Sarge, Sandy Belle's EGO psyche. "You were a trench soldier, who occasionally flew helicopters in the Pale Wars." "I watched Taffer when I sat in his lap and operated the foot pedals for him!" Thought Sandy back with a frown, sitting in the pilot's seat staring at the plane's controls with narrowed blue eyes, then added, "Okay, you're right, I panicked! I didn't want to disappoint Volodja when he is depending on me to get him there! I flew helicopters as you said, so how much different can it be," "A lot," replied Sarge with a virtual sigh. "Okay, access the operations book for this model of this plane, and talk me through it," Commanded Sandy. "We do this right, and Volodja will never know what a fucking ditz his girlfriend is!" "Okay first," Began Sarge, "Start the plane by flicking the green switch up." Sandy flicked a switch and the lights at the end of each wing and on top of the tail turned on. "The green switch, not the red one, "Corrected Sarge. Sandy, turned to Volodja with a jaunty grin on her pretty tan face, saying, "Don't want any mid air collisions! But on second thought I guess we don't want the Inquisition to see us coming either, and that's more important!" Sandy turned off the plane's outer lights and turned on the plane's engine. She was able to taxi the plane out of the base hangar with ease, it being not that much different than driving an APC, although it was an APC with wing lengths she had to take into consideration when exiting the hangar. The take-off was a little bit more difficult with the plane bouncing twice before it left the tarmac, but with Sarge playing both co-pilot and navigator she managed to fly it around and through the twisted grey peaks of the San Francisco wastelands. As the plane got close to the Presidio bunker, Sarge identified a suitably long stretch of fairly level territory to land the plane on, reminding her, "Most airplane accidents happen on take-offs and landings! So this next part is crucial." Sandy dipped the front of the plane downwards too fast so had to compensate by pulling up hard on the stick. The plane bounced three times in quick succession than was briefly landed until it hit a rut that spun it full circle, ending it in a gulley with the tail sticking straight up into the air. Neither Sandy nor Volodja were hurt, and gathered their weapons and exited the plane. As Sandy quickly surveyed the area around their landing site for danger and found no immediate threats, she kissed Volodja like she wanted to kiss the ground, then said to him with an uncertain smile, "Any landing you can walk away from is a good one, or so they say! What's next?"

Chase looked at the map, as Lu explained her plan. "Good plan. But I want to know everything," Chase told her. "I want to know what other exits and entrances there are, other than the front door. I want to know how many Inquisitors have been reported as being inside, what firepower they have, everything. If there's going to be others than you and I, I want to know who else will be there, how many of them have EGO units, and other than my cache, what else we're packing." Chase retrieved his Thunder removing the nuke rounds and replacing it with syphon rounds. "And more importantly, I need to know if you're capable of making hard decisions," Chase concluded. "I want to know that if one of these bastards takes one of the Indogenes as a hostage, you'll have the jondura to shoot that hostage." He looked at her, confusion and the look that Chase had gone insane in her eyes. "I didn't say 'kill the hostage', I said 'shoot the hostage'," Chase reiterated what he said. "If you can't remove the hostage from the situation, then you're no used to me. I need someone who won't back down. And I'm trusting you, not just with my life but with the life of the woman I love. Take as much time as you need to process that. But I between now and our location, I'm going to need everything." Chase preceded to check every weapon the bag, making sure that they were all good for a fight. He was expecting a whole lot opposition, just as much as he was expecting a whole lot of dead bodies when he was through. The silence that filled the cab for a few minutes was thick enough to slice. How about some music, Chase? If you say so, was the only reply he gave back. The music filled his head as he continued to check his weapons, waiting for whenever Lu to finally fill him in on everything he needed to know. Hang in there, Iri, Chase thought to himself. I'm coming for you.

"It was my fault, Sandy. I should not put the pressure on you," said Volodja. "Luckily I didn't got us killed. And knowing Marcel, I am sure that he didn't paid a single scrip for the plane so all he has to do is start to invest into repair works if he doesn't feel like saying: "Easy come, easy go." Besides - you performed better than I could have done it. Not a bad achievement at all. Rest of the positive news for the day is that we are here, we didn't get a scratch and thus we are capable to act according to circumstances."
Those circumstances didn't let them wait too long. Soon they spotted a sight of approaching truck, lead by Inquisitor while the other one sat on the next seat holding a rifle. It could either be their ticket to get in or source of valuable information and Volodja decided for the latter, because he didn't felt that buying one way tickets would be the wisest move.
"One for you and one for me," whispered Volodja. "No need for unnecessary violence, my girl. I may not have sentimental reasons to keep those fanatics alive, but a life is a life and I can never take life just like that without remorse and I need some information from them as well. First we must stop the car without harming anyone inside. Don't try to stop me please. I am perfectly aware what I am doing. Pilot will be mine. Navigator is yours."
Without further remarks Volodja stepped to the road and rose his hand to stop the truck. Driver had a choice to run him over right a way or hit the break to find out why this lunatic is standing in the middle of the road. Curiosity tends to win in situations like these and it seemed to be reasonable to ask from the lunatic what the hell he was doing near the bunker anyway. And dispose his body after that. No need to left traces near the bunker. That meant stopping the truck in any case, come out and deal with the lunatic in Inquisition way and that meant more ruthless and professional approach than this particular one:
Truck stopped and both Inquisitors got out and started to come closer pointing their guns at Volodja.

I was still sitting in the sitting room of my home bunker holding Cosmin and still fighting my inner darkness when my hailer chimed. As I was focused on my losing battle to the darkness I didn't notice it or Dinara's, my EGO psyche, yelling at me to answer it. However when she appeared in solid form, as her Holographic Avatar, and smacked me hard across the face my eyes locked onto her image. They blinked for a few seconds then I finally realized what had just happened. "Why the dak did you smack me and what the dakking hell do you want?!"
She bit her lower lip and said, "Sorry Atty but had ta get your attention! Belle needs Wolfram and you are ignoring his hailer! So answer it already!"
That is when I finally realized that my hailer was chiming incessantly. So I did answer and before I could say anything I heard Wolfram threatening to try to blow up my door if I didn't let him in to care for a patient.
I knew that wasn't an issue as most explosives can't penetrate the material this building is made out of, not to mention the security turrets would have vaporized him if they did register a good amount of explosives near the door. However Wolfram, without knowing it, did once again help me focus on the present. So I got up and still holding Cosmin, I went to the control Room and put in an emergency access code for Wolfram. Then when he was finally done yelling, I gave him the code and he quickly entered. As I walked out of the Control Room, I pointed towards the Infirmary and he was in there faster than Volo could run away from an emotional situation.
After Wolfram was in the Infirmary, I headed back to my chair with Cosmin, then heard Caprice in her crib. Even Cosmin he slept through the minor commotion, it did wake Caprice. So I started to head to her crib when Dinara, who was still present stopped me. "Nuh-uh Atty! I wanna hold one of the cuties, while I am here! They are my family too, after all! Besides I really miss Amber and I am betting, cuddlin a cute baby will always help with loneliness! So back off and let me hold my niece until we haveta leave or I WILL SMACK YOU again and this time MUCH MUCH HARDER!!!" She then flashed her genial smile at me as she retrieved Caprice.
All I could do was nod and sit back down in my chair, as threats and violence normally aren't her style, with Dinara and Caprice sitting in the chair across from me until Belle is ready for us to leave. Kaj and Di chuckled at my interactions with Dinara but stayed out of it. When Dinara and I were both relaxed with the twins and talking nicely though in what, Di mentioned to Kaj, was a sibling manner, Di and Kaj went into the Control room, so Kaj could get better acquainted with the systems.

"What are you doing in the middle of the road?" asked the driver, not letting Volodja out of the sights. "I expected you to ask that," replied Volodja. "I was trying top stop the car, make you to leave it and give yourselves at our disposal." He had a habit to run away from emotional situations and he was aware of that. It was his way to spare others from seeing his pain and heal his wounds or at least to fall in most meaningful way, when pain was too hard. But this wasn't exactly an emotional situation so he stayed on his place and looked at Inquisitors with a smile on his handsome face. And told them the truth about his intentions. "Did I hear you to speak of multiple persons in vicinity?" asked the navigator right before the single THUMP! sound caused by the impact of one hard Inquisitor head and even harder butt of the weapon Sandy was holding. Last word was Inquisitors anyway - he said "Umpf!" before he fell to the ground lights out. Truth can be very painful. "Yes," replied Volodja. "That's what you heard and FELT on your skin." The driver made an elementary mistake by using his peripheral vision to look at the fall his navigator, thus giving Volodja a chance to act, because Volodja concentrated to driver's eyes and used HIS peripheral vision to keep an eye contact with his gun. Eyes can be really treacherous, unless you happen to be totally emotionless psychopath. Driver wasn't and that pointed out to be a fatal, because his jaw met Volodja's fist right away. "Sandy. Scan the truck please and tell me what they are transporting. For their sake I hope that it's not another bunch of kidnapped Indogenes. I have certain issues with human traffickers, you know." And Volodja grinned like a wolf looking into the eyes of the driver with his brown ones. The navigator was totally out and Sandy didn't hesitate to tie him up with couple of plastic straps. One of the best ways to keep someone from making meaningful moves is to tie one's hands and legs together so result reminds a circle shaped sausage. One can wriggle after that but efforts to do something else are pointless. "We have a little talk," said Volodja. "And if you decide to keep your mouth shut then I am forced to act as I usually do." Variety of emotions appeared into Inquisitors eyes when he tried to imagine what might happen to him. After a quick tour in land of possibilities the driver decided to talk, so he started to blurt out anything he knew about their plans and bunker securities. "Thank you for your co operation," said Volodja politely. "And if you still wonder what I would have done to you if you refused to speak, I can tell - I would have released you. Just like that." And he explained to Sandy: "I guess I have told it before but everyone of us tend to think in most familiar categories. Our Inquisitor friend knows only one simple method of getting information - by causing pain to informant. So he knows the power of the pain and is afraid of it, because he has seen how people will start to talk after they are tortured. And he decided to skip that part and started to talk right away because even if he is willing to die for the cause, he hopes that his death is meaningful and quick. But being tortured is out of the question because aforementioned reasons. That was the way he thought that things will turn out to be. He fell into the trap built by his own mind. I didn't fooled him. He did it himself by thinking that everyone are willing to act just like him. I decided to act otherwise and do absolutely nothing to him. One more thing - let them talk when they crack. You must be very careful and observant to capture the moment they break. Don't let them think too long, because when they gather themselves, they start to deceive you. There are two reasons for that - one is to mislead you into the wrong direction on purpose after the first shock is over. And other - they mislead you by telling things, they believe that you want to hear from them. That is usually done to avoid torture or making interrogators to stop causing the pain. I happen to know it because arranging ad hoc interrogations in field conditions was part of our nasty but necessary job. By the way, my girl, what's the cargo?" According to the information the Presidio bunker was a trap. Not very encouraging news. But with the right approach not impossible to bear.
