"Unglaublich," said Wolfram von Eschen. "Unbelievable! No sign of them yet, although we received their message times ago. Don't they know that dinner time is sacred? Especially when Ralph surpassed himself when he was making us a really great fondue." Ever since Wolfram von Eschen had joined Paradise Protectors, he learned to enjoy little pleasures life had to offer - delicious food, good company and one habit, he preserved from his past - drinking his home distilled Schnapps which was so strong that little drop was able to erode a hole into the table when someone was careless enough and spilled it. But he also fancied other types of liqueurs, like Volodja Uljanov's brandy, which he was drinking at moment to suppress his anxiety. Even cudgelling Erika Widowmaker's punching bag with his elegant walking cane didn't help, so he had to rely on his usual method - getting himself a stiff drink. To be honest, he would be having that drink anyway. Old habits won't disappear that easily, you know. But compared with quantum he used to drink, this was just a modest appetizer... Since he wasn't a cheapskate, he also poured some of it into the other snifter and pushed the glass towards of his conversation partner, saying: "You know what I am going to do when I see that no good Volodja? I am going to strangle him to death. Then I will resurrect him so I could strangle him once more! Every time that bastard goes to the mission of some kind he gets into trouble and makes this old man sick from worrying!" Wolfram's harsh manner of speech and somewhat foul mouth were actually sort of mimicry, meant to disguise his genuinely caring nature. His dry voice and sharp tongue were protecting his sentimental soul just like an armour protects a knight from the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. And Wolfram had knights among his ancestors because he actually was true blue blooded aristocrat, although it didn't mattered much in post apocalyptic world. But Wolfram also possessed several other qualities which guaranteed his decades long survival after he had a severe traumatic experience in his past. As a talented psychiatrist and specialist of battle stress he had to mod minds of young soldiers and turn them into killing machines when Pale Wars broke out, although he knew what might happen to them. His soul was torn between following his conscious and following orders, until he could not stand the inner fight any more. Wolfram broke under the burden and lived several years in solitude, drinking on daily basis to wipe those sad memories off from his mind until he left Europe and settled to the west coast of former United States, spending his day drinking and moonshining until Paradise Protectors found Wolfram and convinced him to leave his hermitage and rejoin the world. Ever since Wolfram von Eschen learned that no man is an island but a piece of the continent, a part of the main. He gathered himself, regained his profession, developed new social ties and started to feel that he was part of the family. And now some other parts of the main weren't back for a dinner and that made Wolfram really worried... Suddenly he grinned and said: "When to think about it, then worrying won't stop bad things from happening, but it definitely won't let us enjoy good things, like this snifter of brandy. So let us put the worries behind and enjoy some simple things as a taste of this excellent drink. And if those dwellers aren't back by that time when we finish our drink, we just have another one. Simple as that..."

Erika Widowmaker watched Wolfram fret with wide jade eyes as she sipped her Irathiant brandy, finally saying calmly, "Sandy is still in the infirmary, with her ribs still healing, and I imagine our diminutive Liberata doctor is probably busy sitting on her to keep her from coming, so that is why he is delayed. That may be what is keeping Volodja as well. Chloe MacGyver is in the War Room in command, but I imagine she will be here as soon as she is relieved from duty, however she just relieved me of duty so don't expect her anytime soon. Lena and Marcel are still MIA, as we haven't heard hide nor hair of them, but it is still early in their venture, so nothing to be alarmed about yet. Lady and Atticus I expect any minute now, probably Lady is putting the twins down to sleep after their meal. I understand Caprice has been very active lately, getting into all sorts of trouble, although neither Lady nor her nanny seem to know why."
Erika frowned making the scar that crossed her left red clay colored cheek become more vivid, sipping her brandy again and saying in a low tone, "As to Belle... well she seems awfully withdrawn since they got back from the east coast. Trevor Tyler and VBI rolled out the red carpet for her, but she seemed more bewildered than anything by it all as I understand it, and they didn't stay long after every location there that she went to turned out to be something totally unlike what she was expecting. She now seems to prefer staring at the four walls of her room, so I wouldn't expect to see her here to - "
As if on cue, Belle Starr walked stiffly into the room, no trace of her once usual sashay, a look of sadness in her big blue diamond eyes as she looked for a face she might recognize, then came over when Erika beckoned her to sit next to Erika. Belle did so, slouching in her chair as she asked for a beer. Erika remembered when only champagne would do for Belle, but still smiled slightly after ordering one for her as well as herself.
Erika raised her bottle, than made a toast, "To the Protectors, long may they persevere, wherever they may be and in whatever they may be doing! Speaking of which, my plane is ready to take me to Capital City in the Votan Collective and after the party, I fear I must depart, for my son Chancellor Cael needs me much more than The Protectors do!"
Just than Lady Christianna and the Commander of The Protectors, Atticus Batman entered the room arm-in-arm and all became quiet as they watched the elegant if mismatched couple of the small chalk white pretty Castithan girl with the enigmatic smile and large brooding Irathiant armored giant approach their table.

"By the way, Frau Widowmaker," said Wolfram. "I have a personal request for our behalf. Actually we are not the ones who want anything from the Chancellor, but I believe that it is his duty to support the family of Commander Kima after he was killed in the line of duty. I was informed that our team had to move to Alaska so they didn't had a chance to remind Cael...or was it Kabule...? Actually it doesn't matter who he was at moment...Anyway, your son has obligations to that man who sacrificed his life for the sake of more stable world. Can you remind him about that, please?" Wolfram heard about Kima from one of his youngest and yet oldest friends - Volodja Uljanov. In matter of fact Volodja had been his only friend for a long time, so no wonder that Wolfram was worried about him. But at moment it didn't had much importance, compared with commander's family. Volodja told Wolfram about that impressively dutiful officer after their team returned and Volodja regained his consciousness, and Wolfram considered to be his duty as an officer and gentlemen to make sure that Kima's family would be spared from financial worries at least, if he couldn't do more for them. In addition to that, aforementioned Volodja, offered them a share of his power plant in Red Deer, still run by two aggressive Liberata brothers - Aku and Tagawa - whom Volodja bought the plant to put some pressure on Esthete - Artificial Intelligence who was in charge of Red Deer, but misused his position to become a total tyrant. As an AI, Esthete depended on energy, so by buying the plant, Volodja hoped to make Esthete listen the reason. After Protectors solved the crisis with other means, Volodja was stuck with that asset and decided to keep it. Energy business turned to be quite profitable and although the scrip had to be divided between squatters of Red Deer and some other parties, he didn't became much poorer when he shared some of that income with Kima's family as well. But geeting some support from Chancellor Cael was matter of principle. And probably not only for Volodja and Wolfram von Eschen, but the rest of Protectors too. Thus the strange request. Wolfram would continued their conversation, but at the same moment appeared Ralph the Cook carrying the communal pot with a heated chafing stand and put it down to their table. Pot contained classic Swiss fondue. Although they discussed serious matter, it didn't meant that they couldn't allow themselves something from the brighter side of life. "Damn it!" muttered Wolfram moving his nostrils to enjoy the delicate odour of their meal. "They just don't know what they are missing if they won't join us at the feast."

The Constantines were sitting near Wolfram and both sipping some of Atika's tea while listening to Erika and Wolfram. However as the older people at the table were talking about heavy stuff such as injuries and death, the two youngsters chose to just quietly sip their tea and enjoy everyone's company. Kaj on the other hand was sitting at a table "talking" with Security chief Lebeau while Remy shuffled some playing cards. In all actuality while Remy was teaching Kaj to play Bourre' (pronounced boo-ray, A card game invented by Cajuns), the two men were having a heated discussion about Hulkers versus sharkgators; which s of course is a topic that Remy brought up to distract the big man while they played.
Part of the discussion went like this: Kaj vexed at Remmy's opinion that Sharkgators could easily beat a Hulker said with a little annoyance, "Swamp rat you have to quit drinking that stuff you are getting from Doctor Von Eschen. It has fried what few brain cells you have if you think a shark gator is any match for an angry Hulker on land."
Remmy Lebeau responded light-heartedly with, "Ma Cocain (Cajun for large)friend, ya bein bracque (crazy) iffin ya be dinkin dat yer over-grown cuz can be takin a hungry Sharkgator!!"
As Kaj thought about it and stared at his cards, Remmy yelled very cheerfully and enthustiastically, "Laissez les bon temps roulet (pronounced “lay-zay lay bon ton rule-ay”)! Let the good times roll!" then he slammed his cards down and declared himself the winner of whatever stakes they were playing for.
Just then Lady Christianna and the Commander of The Protectors, Atticus Batman entered the room arm-in-arm and all became quiet as they watched the elegant if mismatched couple of the small chalk white pretty Castithan girl with the enigmatic smile and large brooding Irathiant armored giant approach Wolfram's and Erika's table.
Seeing them Remmy said, "Since dey bein dogeter, dat girl, she dun found her Joie de vivre (pronounced "zhwa-d-veev"! It means exuberant enjoyment of life)! An it be good ta be seein it.....from bote o' dem!"

As Lady and I got to the table that my older sister was at with Wolfram, Belle, and the Constantines, I pulled Lady's chair out for her and she sat down before I gently pushed it in. Then I took the chair by her side. I saw the fondue on the table with Wolfram making sure it's burner was properly lit. So I said, "I see we arrived just in time."
Then I removed my helm to reveal my masked face and I could tell that Atika was trying hard not to chuckle as my helm was removed, with Lady trying to maintain her enigmatic smile. I also noticed Erika raise an eyebrow as my helm came off and they say black and green paint streaks in my normally completely fuchsia goatee. As I set the helm down I glanced at the table and everyone trying not to laugh at my painted goatee as I said mock-annoyed with a slight smile on my face, "No laughing!......Alright I suppose it is funny. So go ahead."
Then I continued with, "Dak Erika! Why didn't you warn us that kids could be such a handful! It seems that while I was trying to touch up the paint on some armor, a certain daddy's girl decided she needed daddy right at that moment, while her Mommy fed Cosmin. So I of course willingly took her and went back to painting while holding her on my lap with one hand. However she decided that I missed a couple spots and before I realized that she had a paintbrush in her little hand, she had painted my goatee for me! Well at least she was giggling as I took the brush from her and Lady returned to feed her. Needless to say while Caprice was being fed and put to bed, I was trying to get the paint out. However I don't need to tell you how quickly the paint I use dries or how well it holds to what it was put on. So even with my paint remover, I couldn't get it all. So I must deal with the streaks that were left, until I can get it all out. At least I did learn that next time I better put away the paint or give her something else to paint. This is only the beginning of what we must expect from growing children though, isn't it?"

Vo stopped at the door in a moment of hesitation as he replayed his latest journey with Belle in his mind. In fact, it was a disaster. He thought that their visit to Boston would trigger some pleasant memories for Belle about the time they spent there together, and which, in its turn, would help her remember more and more of the past events from her life before she was captured and brainwashed. Contrary to his expectations, Belle had her own virtual memories about that place which came into conflict with what she saw on their arrival. It was the time when Belle finally realized she would never see all those people she remembered from the simulation again. Vo tried to sweeten that pill as he could but it was still a traumatic experience. Vo felt that instead of getting the grip on the real world, Belle started rejecting it more than she did at the day they found her. It was understandable, given that from what she told, the simulation forced her to experience another episode of losing her world and everyone she loved, and this time it happened to her again. It seemed like after all the experience, Belle become afraid of getting close with anyone or anything from this world s if she was afraid that it could disappear again and change into something completely different with her losing everything she had gained again. Of course, it wasn't the way Vo wanted her to go as he tried to get her back into this world and he knew he would keep trying. He could accept that Belle would never come back to be the person she was before as he understood all this experience she had to undergo would never leave without a trace. He also could accept that he and Belle would never be an item anymore. But ultimate goal was to make sure that no matter what had happened to her, Belle would find her place in this world despite how alien it looked for her now. "If I cannot give you a brand new world, at least I can help you swim through this one," was his motto during those days they spent visiting various places which Belle thought might be familiar to her. The only thing he was afraid was that his best might be not enough. That, of course, was not going to make him stop trying.
Vo pushed the door and entered the room. He smiled upon seeing Belle as it was a good sign for him that she didn't stay in her room for too long. He also thought that Belle had enough problems already to add to them by seeing all his concerns on his face. He greeted the people who were already at the room and sat next to Belle but not too close so that it won't make her feel uncomfortable… at least not more uncomfortable than she already did.
"Hey Belle," he said casually while tasting the fondue Ralph made for them, "How about we take a tour around the Bay Area? I can show you a couple of nice places to meditate at or some nice people to chat with or simply drive around and see how people live out there. We can take ATVs, or the white challenger or the Black Durango or even Taffer's Titan truck for that. He still sleeps after the long flight but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't mind if we borrow his vehicle. I asked him some time ago and he agreed."

Post by Belle Starr on Jul 29, 2016 9:06:37 GMT
re·al·i·ty rēˈalədē/ noun 1. the world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them."He refuses to face reality" synonyms: the real world, real life, actuality; More 2. the state or quality of having existence or substance. "Youth, when death has no reality" What is a reality? Belle Starr had been asking herself that question constantly since she had come back from Boston days ago. Was reality the Commonwealth two hundred years after humans had engaged in a pointless nuclear war and after enduring a forced cryogenic sleep, where she was a General in the Minutemen protecting twenty-three colonies, searching for her son as her main goal in life and in the process of searching for him, developing many loving relationships, most notably that with Piper Wright? Or was it this Bay Area wasteland that she found herself currently in after awakening from another forced cryogenic sleep, only decades after several invading alien species had warred with humankind, transforming the area into a hodgepodge of Earthen and Alien landscapes and now living in semi-peaceful co-existence? Her Boston was a desolate place of warring neighborhoods and factions, but she had found the Boston of the world she found herself in was a bustling city that was the current hub of one of the few remaining human dominated countries, The Earth Republic or as the natives seemed to like to call it, E-Rep. Both of Belle's worlds were post-apocalyptic, and the citizens of both spent most of their time and energy just surviving, which was fine by her, as she always saw herself as a survivor, but which was real? After spending the last few days tirelessly going through historical records on her computer and reading a book that supposedly documented her exploits in this world, Confessions of an Ark Hunter, which seemed to her to be more a collection of fictional short stories than fact, she had decided to do what she had always done foremost: Survive. In both worlds, she had found her place in the world she found herself in once she became familiar with it, and evidently in both cases it was one of leadership and futurism. Belle always had concern with events and trends of the future or which anticipate the future, and then to lead others into that future, or so her research of her activities in this reality and her memories of her alternate reality in the Commonwealth led her to believe. However, in both cases, her first steps were always to survive and to gain intelligence to help her survive, and than build a base of power based on that intelligence using both her intelligence and her learned skills. Evidently, in this reality, she was able to process a huge amount of data in a short amount of time, which she figure probably had something to do with the EGO implant she read about having been implanted in her, as well as most of the altruistic group she evidently worked with, had rescued her from her cryogenic sleep in this reality, and which she had no memory of - The Bay Area Protectors. However, whether in this world or the one she had memory of, she seemed to have a drive and a knack for gathering information, even that which was meant to be secret. Belle had always been pragmatic, so after days of pondering the question of what is reality, she decided that reality was the existence you found yourself in, and although this world might be the dream and the other world real, THIS was the world she found herself operating in, and she would make the most of her time in it. So Belle had decided her first plan of action in this world was to regain her memories of it, if at all possible. So Belle smiled at Vo Kshaa when he made his offer to show her more of the immediate area of this reality - her reality - smiling warmly and requesting politely although she knew he would do almost anything she asked, for like her second-in-command in the Commonwealth, Preston Garvey, Vo Kshaa looked at her with the same familiar puppy dog eyes of unrequited love as Garvey had, "I'd love that Vo, but could we please go to my little blue trailer behind The Crater during your tour, where I guess I first lived in the Bay Area. According to Confessions of an Ark Hunter, I guess that home and The Crater were both very important to me when I first arrived in the Bay Area, so I'm hoping something there might trigger some hidden memory!" Her blue diamond eyes sparkled as her smile widened on her beautiful pale freckled face, adding, "And - I really think I'd like to go in that white Challenger!" Then Belle contacted Alfred, her EGO psyche, through the telepathic link they shared, ordering, "Oh... and Alfred, you can quit hiding now! I read about you too as well as the Star Project, and although you seem to be quite the bastard, your are MY bastard!" Alfred immediately contacted Atticus Batman and Vo Kshaa through their EGOs, saying dryly, "The gig, gentlemen, is evidently up. She knows I'm here."

Post by Erika Widowmaker on Jul 29, 2016 14:44:30 GMT
Erika Widowmaker smiled slightly when she saw her brother's multi-color goatee, but when Atticus Batman ate the sticky fondue and it too was decorating his beard, she had to laugh heartily, which was not something she did often. As his wife, Lady Christianna, gently removed the sticky cheese bits from his facial hair with a cloth napkin as she obviously restrained a giggle, Erika looked around the table at the faces of the assembled Protectors, and wondered yet again if her leaving was a good thing. Many of them were still recovering from physical injuries from their last venture, such as Sandy Bell, but other were recovering from the even more troubling mental injuries, like her good friend Belle Starr. Erika wondered if it was a good time to leave, but knew there was never a "good" time to do anything separate from her Protectiors' duties, because one adventure always led to another, and as the humans put it, it was only a matter of time before the proverbial shit would hit the fan yet again. Furthermore, each of the Protectors was a strong individual in their own right, and together they were unstoppable, so both Sandy and Belle would heal in time, with the help of their friends in The Protectors.
Her son, Cael, on the other hand was not as strong and was basically alone, even though he was the duly elected Chancellor of the Votan Collective and a charismatic politician and peaceful leader. He kept a terrible secret, that of another personality, the Votan assassin Kabule, brainwashed into him by the evil Mistress of Judgement, leader of the Inquisition and Lady's mother. Cael struggled to keep control of both his volatile other self as well as the war mongering factions in his government who would like to see the Collective at war with E-Rep. He needed his mother, a savvy former civil servant herself, to essentially watch his back while he went forward with his policy plans to benefit the peoples of not only the Collective, but the world.
Erika was surprised that her daughter Kara had decided to go with her, bringing her two young children to see their uncle as well. Although Kara was not aware of her brother's mental struggle, for Erika had not informed her for her daughter too had suffered mental manipulation at the hands of the Mistress of Judgement and was still recovering herself from that Castithan witch's machinations, Kara must have had some sixth sense feeling that her younger brother needed her. Kara, after a tearful farewell to the big bioman Protector that she loved, Kaj, assuring him she would be back soon, was already on the plane getting her children settled there, so that the Votan Collective crew was only waiting for Erika to embark before taking off to South America.
Erika stood up, saying sadly, "I'm afraid it's time for me to leave. My plane awaits, but if any of you need me for any reason, you know where I am," As she hugged her brother and sister-in-law and shook the hands of the rest of the assembled Protectors, she whispered to Belle a personal note, "You might not remember, but I do, that you saved my life in the past and we became fast friends afterwards; neither being something I have occur often in my life. If you ever have need of me, or even just need a listening board, please don't hesitate to call me. You have my private number on your hailer."
With that said and a few more goodbyes, Erika hurried out of the mess hall and to the plane. As the plane took off, and she looked through the aircraft's window at the shrinking view of Fortress Kshaa, she could not shake a sense of foreboding that the shit was indeed about to hit the fan yet again for the Protectors, although she didn't have a clue as to why she felt that way.

Post by Lena Marr on Jul 29, 2016 16:07:13 GMT
Lena Marr awoke totally nude with the taste of blood and grass in her mouth and the warmth of sunlight on her back as she lay on the soft ground, not sure where she was or how long she had been there, but as she slowly opened her sky blue eyes, blinking several time to assure herself that she was awake, she found herself in a jungle clearing, filled with the vivid colors of Votan flora and with the sounds of wildlife all around her, whereupon she muttered to herself a question, "Why can't I seem to keep my clothes on?"
Lena got up shakily to her chalk white feet, putting an alabaster hand to her pretty face, feeling a sticky liquid on her temple. When she lowered her hand to see, she discovered her fingertips were painted pale pink, the color of Castithan blood, and realized she must have hit her head on a rock when she fell, although she didn't remember falling. In fact she didn't remember anything since she fell asleep on the plane.
Lena sighed, then sidled over to a large nearby tree, bracing her naked back against it and saying in a low tone to herself, "Okay, lets take measure. Last I remember, Marcel and I had borrowed a Synth City plane and were flying from there to the island of Dr. Whosis to get my brain virus cure and were almost there. I was fully dressed, although my blouse was open from where Pooh Bear had copped a feel while he piloted the plane, and had just fallen asleep in the co-pilot's seat, and now I find myself here, not knowing how long I've been here or why I'm in a jungle in my birthday suit - yet again! Geez, waking up naked and not in my own bed is getting to be a bad habit with me!"
Lena had a sudden thought, so she put two fingers to her temple, attempting to contact her EGO psyche and surprised when she got an answer, hearing from Hope, "I just got here myself, so I hope you don't think I know where we are. All the others are here in your noggin too - all of your voices that represent the seven deadly sins, although we are all a bit groggy, except for Sloth who is still snoring away, but knowing her, that's because of choice. My radar DOES reveal airplane wreckage to you right, just hidden out of sight by the jungle."
Lena moved stealthily to where Hope indicated, seeing the now wingless and broken plane that she and Marcel had been traveling in. Before going into a breach in the plane's main cabin, she cloaked, entering and moving towards the cockpit somewhat reluctantly, afraid that she might find her lover's dead body. She sighed in relief when she found no trace of him there, but a wicked grin crossed when she found the plane's radio undamaged and working.
Lena immediately got on the long range hailer and punching in the number of the Protector's war room, and said cheerfully, "Hi guys, this is Lena Marr! We seem to have crashed our plane, and I can't find either Pooh Bear or my clothes, so could you PUHLEEZE come and help!"
"This is Officer Darlene Gish at Fortress Kshaa," Returned a calm feminine voice amidst lots of static, "I'm tracing your transmissions origin Ms. Marr, so please stay on the line. Can you give me any particulars as to your situation?"
"Well Darling, I'm unarmed and stark naked in a wrecked plane in the middle of a jungle, with no sign of my Pooh Bear and blood leaking out the side of my face, and other than that, don't KNOW anything other than I could sure use a Snickers candy bar, SOOOOO... Could you come rescue me... and bring me some clothes, something pretty but durable too... and a Snicker's bar, don't forget the Snicker's bar," Lena answered in a sarcastic tone, then something caught her eyes just outside the cockpit's cracked window.
Officer Gish and the whole war room staff then heard Lena's voice say, "What the Shatko is that?", then heard a loud crash of broken glass followed by a woman's scream, sounding more surprised than fearful, and then there was nothing but dead air, whereupon Officer Gish turned to Chloe MacGyver who was in the command chair asking, "I got the GPS location of the plane, but what should we do now?"
Chloe answered in a thick Australian accent, "Now we contact Commander Batman and play back the transmission for him - and contact Captain Kaj, inform him of the situation and tell him to get an appropriate aircraft ready, for it sounds like things have gone pear shaped for our little larriken, other than a few roos loose in the top paddock."

Marcel Lestrange made his way through the rain forest, pressing stubborn plants under his heavy boots or cutting them with a the blade of his knife if they dared to resist. When he wanted to reach his beloved girl, then everything on his path, like local flora and fauna had to surrender and let him pass or...Have you heard about cutting down rain forests for industrial purposes? Well, Marcel was capable to do the work of the whole logging camp as a solo mission when he needed to rescue Lena Marr even if it meant clearing acres of rain forest by himself. The turbulence their jet was caught, was really unnatural. Even Marcel's superior piloting skills did not help to fight it because all electronics on board went off. As a result their jet crashed and Marcel was thrown off from the cockpit after crash landing. He landed safely into the mud pit, disturbing only couple of local crocodiles. Poor reptiles did not had a chance against the great white shark as Marcel was. Fortunately they realized it and backed off right away, saving their lives. Rest of Marcel's path (after climbing out from the mud pit) was filled with chopping and slashing, until... ....Until Marcel Lestrange wiped off the streak of blood from his relatively high forehead because he saw... We are more than willing to satisfy your curiosity and tell what Marcel Lestrange saw. Marcel Lestrange saw an elderly gentleman with hydrogen blond hair peacefully jogging on the jungle track. Man wore purple track suit and ear plugs. He was obviously listening music while he jogged, but soon his ears were open to different kind of sounds when Marcel put his machete to his throat and hissed: "First you will introduce yourself. And when that formality is over you will help me to rescue my girlfriend!" "Well, my friend," said the man. "I do not know you. But since you are trying to be ...ee...convincing, then let me introduce myself. I am Doctor Euthanasius Todt. I am following my morning route to keep me in shape. And you are trespassing at moment. If you don't have a valid reason to be here, you will be vaporized for good. Why, you want to know? Mainly because I want to preserve my privacy. I already destroyed your plane with my turbulence shield (Dr. Euthanasius checked his hand attached computer to get a conformation about the plane crash). And I did it for good, so can you give me a reason not to destroy survivors from the crash landing as well. Let us make a deal - you remove your machete from my throat and I consider cancelling the order of destroying every unfamiliar and thus unwanted life form from my island as a return. After all - I am a kind man."

As my wife, Lady Christianna, gently removed the sticky cheese bits from my facial hair with a cloth napkin as she obviously restrained a giggle, Erika looked around the table at the faces of the assembled Protectors, and yet again got lost in her thoughts, something she has been doing constantly since we rescued her from her cryo-prison and especially after The rest of the Protectors and I had returned from Alaska where we saved our missing friend, Belle Starr and I resumed Command of Base operations and Erika was no longer forced to focus on the exhausting issues that Commanding Fortress K'shaa tends to entail.
At that moment, I got Alfred's message through my EGO, saying dryly, "The gig, gentlemen, is evidently up. She knows I'm here."
Only seconds later, Erika stood up, saying sadly, "I'm afraid it's time for me to leave. As Atticus hugged Erika back, he said calmly but confidently, "Oh I can easily think of plenty of reasons to contact you but I think the most important is that you are my sister. So you better make sure to call me regularly and make sure you let us know when you have safely arrived at Cael's. Just take care of our family and don't worry because we will talk again soon."
With that said and a few more goodbyes, Erika hurried out of the mess hall and to the plane. A few minutes after Erika left, Dinara, my EGO psyche, had returned from her tearful farewell with her girlfriend, and Erika's EGO psyche Amber, and informed me that Erika's flight had just left. Seconds later I got Officer Gish's call from the War Room about Lena, and she had also informed me that Chloe was contacting Kaj and ordering him to the hangar to make sure an appropriate aircraft was ready as we spoke. After I listened to the message, I quickly sent the information to Taffer's EGO and asked him to meet me in the War Room.
Since I had just notified Taffer who wasn't currently present and Chloe just notified Kaj, I got ready to address all the Paradise Protectors that were at the table of the situation, as I Looked into my loving wife's eyes seeing from the expression that I saw in them that she must have once again listened in on my EGO conversation. So still looking lovingly into her eyes, I said calmly to the Protectors, "Well it appears there is no rest for the wicked...............or in this case the wicked and crazy that is Lena Marr.....It appears she is once again in trouble, as Officer Gish just received a garbled distress call from her. Besides Lena would be lost without me around to save her, even if she thinks it's the opposite.
So I must go to the War Room and prepare a team to go rescue our 'friends'. However it will take a little while to figure out exactly where they went down and what we need to prepare for. So you can all enjoy Ralph's cooking and the company a little longer, before you must report to the War Room.................Wolfram I am not going to tell Volodja as I do not want to be the reason that he feels trapped between his love for Sandy and his sense of duty to others. Besides given what I have been told by the doctors, he is NOT ready to go on another strenuous mission and we both know he would try to anyway. So that means that IF the rest of us all go, that Chloe and you will again be in Command unless Taffer, Lady or Vo chooses to stay and handle it; and if you and Volodja feel that he is at least up to helping in either a Command or advisory capacity in the War Room while we are away, then that is fine by me."
Then as I stood up, I gave Lady a quick loving hug and kiss before replacing my helm upon my head. Next I walked over to Kaj and said, "Kaj, I think given the circumstances that you should prepare both the Vigilant and the Riot. That way no matter which one is taken, the other is ready at a moment's notice if we request Lebeau and his commandos be sent to aid us. So Remy that means you better prepare your commandos as well, just in case." Then I headed out of the room and towards the War Room and I also knew my wife well enough to know that even though I told her to stay and enjoy the festivities she would soon follow me.....probably with a drink or dessert to share with me so I was still part of the activity even though my own sense of duty (and more often than not, my anti-social tendencies as well), kept pulling me away from most gatherings.

As Erika had given Kaj a handshake and walked to the plane, Kaj's mind once again drifted from his game with Remy and back to Kara who he loved and knew he would miss her and her children terribly. However as Kara's brother needed her, he knew better than to stand in her way. Besides he knew quite well how stubborn Erika's whole family could be, including her once-thought dead younger brother, Atticus Batman. So after a tearful goodbye with her and her two wonderful children they boarded the plane to get ready for take off and Kaj wandered slowly and glumly towards the Mess Hall to join the others.
It was actually in the corridors that Remy had ran into the sullen giant, also on his way to the Mess Hall. As the Chief of Security, Remy prided himself in knowing what was happening in the base and what he knew at this moment was that Kaj's girlfriend Kara and her children were leaving with Erika to head to the VC city in Brazil; and obviously the very empathic gentle giant wasn't taking it well, for he seemed very morose at the moment. So Remy accompanied him to the Mess and started a conversation with Kaj to help calm him; and remembering the cards he always kept in his pocket, Remy quickly decided how he would help Kaj take his mind of his sadness for a few minutes and perhaps win some of Kaj's well-earned scrip while he was at it. So that is how Kaj found himself being suckered into playing several games of Bourre' with Remy and enduring Remy's asinine conversation about how all things even remotely Cajun could beat whatever he chose to bring up at the moment because Kaj could tell it was Remy's way of trying to help.
During that current sulky moment, Kaj got Chloe's order to go get an appropriate aircraft ready. Just then Atticus came over and said, "Kaj, I think given the circumstances that you should prepare both the Vigilant and the Riot. That way no matter which one is taken, the other is ready at a moment's notice if we request Lebeau and his commandos be sent to aid us. So Remy that means you better prepare your commandos as well, just in case." Then Atticus, headed out of the room and towards the War Room.
As Kaj watched Atticus leave, he thanked Remy for the games. Then Kaj headed to the hangar to make sure that the Vigilant and Riot were ready and the Garilu was docked with the Riot and also at the ready, so the team could take whichever craft they felt was best for the newest life-saving venture that they now faced. He also made sure that the Gargoyle copter was also ready in case it may be needed for something as well. As Kaj left to make his preparations, Remy put away his cards. Then Remy left to prepare a commando team, incase the Protectors request their aid.

Post by Vo Kshaa on Jul 30, 2016 22:03:56 GMT
Vo smiled with mirth when he heard Belle's request about her blue trailer. Belle had just voiced his exact thoughts about it. In fact, he had already planned visiting the Crater bar as an important part of their journey, along with taking a look on the trailer which served as a home for Belle before she settled with the Protectors at the base. But even after that, Vo felt the place was important for Belle, so when she was kidnapped, Vo paid the rent up front with the request of keeping the contents of the trailer intact. He thought that after they found Belle, she might want to spend some time in her old home in case she felt she needed some rest from the perpetual commotion that was going on at the Fortress. This time it could play even more important role, serving as a key to Belle's dormant memories. There was one thing that made him concerned though. Vo was afraid that their visit to Belle's old home might turn out as another disaster like their trip to Boston was. If Belle wouldn't be able to remember anything connected with her old home or she could remember only some vague feelings she might not be able to place and connect with her memories, she might only get just another bewildering experience. Moreover, from that moment her memories of the trailer at the Crater bar would be replaced with new ones, which might completely lock that opportunity from being successful in restoring her memory. With those thoughts in mind, Vo decided that he would watch Belle's reaction on other places that she might recognize as familiar to her and judge if she's ready to see her old home based on her reactions. But now, as Belle voiced her request, he took her interest as a very good sign, especially combined with her choice of their transport to get there.
But just several minutes after they shook their hands with Erika and wished her well on her trip to the Capital of the Votanis Collective, Atticus addressed the team, "Well it appears there is no rest for the wicked...............or in this case the wicked and crazy that is Lena Marr…"
Vo closed his eyes as he listened to Atticus who continued to brief the team on what was known about Lena so far, feeling his plans were going downhill too fast. Lives of his friends were always a high priority for Vo, and he knew for sure anyone of his friends could rely on him in case of any trouble. He never doubted seeing Lena Marr as his friend, especially after she played a major role in rescuing Belle from the Synth City in Alaska, even if Lena was a rather troubled person and sometimes difficult to handle. On the other hand, he saw the voyage around the Bay Area he planned for Belle not only as recreation trip, but as an important part in restoring Belle's memory and in helping her to find her place in this world that was still new to her in her current state. He shook his head as he made a decision to join the rescue team but also try and squeeze some time for his loved one as well.
"Atticus," he sent an EGO message to the Commander after he left to the War Room, "You say it will take some time to prepare. So may I and Belle still have our trip to Bay Area? I think we can shorten it to a single visit to her old home and back. It may be very beneficial to her mental state right now and I just can't lose this chance. I'm still in the rescue team though, so if you need me before our planned return, just send me an EGO message and I'll be back immediately."
With Atticus's reply interpreted as a reluctant consent, Vo smiled again to Belle and said, "I think I still managed to steal some time off for us, so we can still visit your little blue trailer at the Crater. It will be just there and back trip as I can't keep the rescue team waiting, But I really hope it will be enough for you to at least take a look over the place you lived before we moved here. Our vehicle is ready, so we can just go now. I think it will be better if I drive as I know the road by heart."
With that said, Vo led belle to the garage where her white Challenger stood, ready to carry its owner to follow her old patrol routes again, but this time it was different as Vo took the driver's seat and floored it, aiming it to the Golden Gate Bridge, then passing Bud'n'Chug, then following main roads to reach the best known bar in the Bay Area. The roller stopped at the vendor vehicle and Vo jumped out and circled around the roller to open the door for Belle. Without hesitation, he led her to the lodging area, stopping only when they reached the blue trailer. It took Vo a moment to disable the tripwire trap which kept any unwanted visitors away and unlocked the door. He was about to turn the handle and open the door, but stopped in mid action, thinking it would be better if Belle did it, knowing that tactile senses are good for invoking long forgotten memories.
"Your turn," he said as he stepped aside, letting his belowed woman to take the initiative.

Post by Belle Starr on Jul 31, 2016 11:09:27 GMT
*SPOILER ALERT! Belle's alternate reality was the Fallout 4 world, so if you plan on playing that game, the post MAY ruin some surprises for you! Wearing a only a plaid shirt and khaki pants so much more casual that Vo Kshaa was used to seeing Belle Starr wearing when she went out in public, Belle watched the scenery of the Bay Area fly by as Vo drove them in a comfortable but unfamiliar white Challenger from Fortress Kshaa to The Crater, not recognizing anything but the Golden Gate Bridge, which she only knew from pictures for it was a famous San Francisco landmark in both her realities, although she had been told she had driven over it herself thousands of times before. In the Commonwealth, a reality she was told by the Protectors she was brainwashed into believing was real, land vehicles were just large paperweights, for the EMP pulses from the nuclear Great War had destroyed all such transportation, although the Brotherhood of Steel had aircraft that rivaled that of the Protectors. However in her memory of before the Great War, she had always preferred others to drive or mass transit for she was a lousy driver, even hitting a tree with the family car just backing out of the driveway. Belle had been told that in this reality she had been some kind of super-powered policeman, patrolling by car the highways and byways of the Bay Area, protecting "innocents" from the dangers of this world. Belle couldn't believe she could be that naive in ANY reality. In her experience, no one was totally "innocent", with the possible exception of Piper and children, although even the former told lies if it got her the truth for her newspaper and the latter had been used as bait in elaborate traps aimed at tricking or eliminating Belle, for whatever reasons. Her whole search for her infant son when she woke up from her forced cryogenic sleep had proven to be such a trap. Belle figured that it must be the age difference of her existences in the two realities, for she awoke in this one a twenty two year old girl but in her memories of the Commonwealth, she had been thirty-two, and a decade of experiences, even fake ones, could really change how one viewed the world. Belle woke up from her mental reverie as they drove up and parked next to The Crater, evidently the main watering hole in the Bay Area, and just outside the fence surrounding the trailer park where Belle evidently kept a trailer, although she didn't remember the little blue trailer even when Vo allowed her to open the door, presumably hoping it would awaken her memories of it. As she walked in the cramped trailer, full of boxes of files and obvious keepsakes from adventures, Belle smiled as she realized that it didn't matter what reality she found herself in, she was a bad house keeper. The smile widened on her beautiful freckled face as she beheld with her blue diamond eyes an unexpected surprise sitting on her bed, and she quickly grabbed and held to her bosom the small worn teddy bear she found there. Belle sat on the bed, still staring at the small stuffed toy with sparkling blue diamond eyes, informing Vo as to her sudden pleasure in her rich Bostonian accent, "You know, in The Commonwealth, I had to forage a lot to survive, especially in the first few months, in supermarkets, gas stations, and even abandoned homes, and almost always I would find one of these little critters there! Although I took apart most of the stuff I found there to make things more useful in a post-apocalyptic world, these little guys I always tried to preserve intact! When I started founding settlements, I would always leave one of them on the bed of the first habitation I built, just after setting off the beacon that would lead potential settlers there. I though I was doing it as a sign of hope, not just for them, but for me - that I would find my infant son Sean safe and sound! I guess that wasn't the reason after all, but what this little fellow signifies I don't have a clue, and why here he only has one-eye here and the ones I found had both their eyes, I haven't a clue!" Vo silently watched as he leaned with his back against the door as Belle wandered aimlessly around the small trailer, occasionally picking up an item and immediately putting it back down, looking for anything that might trigger a memory but finding nothing, until admitted defeat with a sigh, saying, "I'm done here! Let's get a beer!" As they entered the bar next door, the human bartender, endlessly polished the bar's surface with a discolored rag, smiled warmly at Belle and asked, "The usual?" Although he obviously recognized her, Belle didn't know him or what "the usual" was, so she just ordered, "A beer please - a cold one if you have it!" The bartender raised on eyebrow in surprise, but didn't ask why she didn't order her usual bottle of Champagne with two clean wine glasses, but instead engaged in the time honored practice of bar keeps everywhere, that of gossiping, as he said, "You friend Chase Lonehart was just here. Guess he's starting a new business, something called historical savage, and was recruiting personnel for it. From what I understand, he's gathering a team over at Topnotch." Belle absentmindedly handed over a script card that Vo had arranged for her, having to admit that it was a much more sensible currency then the Commonwealth's bottle caps, which she thought terribly cumbersome and stupid, but now thinking that historical salvage didn't sound that much different than the foraging she had done in abandoned stores and homes in the Commonwealth. She was familiar that such places were not usually as abandoned as one might hope, for they were often the haunts of ghouls, rad roaches, and even raiders. She had become quite adept at dealing with such unexpected dangers; coming out of them safe and sound and with the loot! After giving the bartender a hefty tip for the information and then downing her beer quickly in a single swig, Belle turned to Vo with a warm smile, asking sweetly, "Listen, I know you have your duties and I don't want to add to them by your worrying about me if I go on this mission, so why don't I just stay in the little blue trailer - maybe something I didn't see in a quick visit will trigger a memory or two! However, I sure would appreciate it if you would drop me off at this Topnotch place on your way back to Fortress Kshaa, and maybe I can get a job with this Lonehart guy! I'm intrigued with the idea of historical salvage and you know, idle hands are the devil's workshop!"

Post by Lena Marr on Jul 31, 2016 17:24:55 GMT
Lena Marr was not happy, as she was held naked in the clawed hand hand of a giant insect-like monstrosity like some modern day Fay Wray in the hand of King Kong, although being Castithan, the reference would have been lost on her. All she knew was that her arms were held tight against her soft chalk white body in the steel grip of a creature with a hard exo-skeleton covering all of it's body, walking upright like a gorilla but looking more like a big beetle, with giant mandibles jutting from its mouth, antennae on its head, and two pairs of eyes that continually glanced her way in either curiosity or hunger, she wasn't sure which. It walked purposefully, so she wasn't sure if she was headed to a master puppeteer that was pulling it's strings for her to serve a purpose in some dastardly plan or to a den full of little monsters to serve as the children's snack. Either way, Lena was sure she wouldn't like it, so was quickly thinking of some way to escape the beast's clutches. She knew brute force wouldn't do, for she had no weapons and although she could murder a man in at least a hundred ways without a weapon and even though she could tell the creature's weak points were at the joints, eyes, and antennae, she couldn't see a way of outright killing it in hand-to-hand battle, and in fact, would probably just make it angry at best. With her being held fast, she couldn't see how her EGO powers might help in the situation, at least until the monster loosened it's grip. That left charm or guile, which she knew she had tons of both, but somehow doubted either would work on the beast. As Lena prepared to verbally confront the beast, she batted her long lashed sky blue eyes, shook her soft snow colored hair to get that just-right-out-of-bed look, moistened her lush alabaster lips with her pink tongue, then with a wicked grin on her pretty chalk white face yelled sweetly up at the creature, "Hey Big Bug! You want to set me down now! I can show you a good time! I've seen all the elf maiden meets horny monster hentai films, so I KNOW what a big beast wants!" Lena wasn't sure, but she thought that a frown crossed it's big insectoid face, however it didn't break it's stride even for a second as it continued to amble towards whatever goal it had, while Lena was left to think, "Well, that didn't work, so I guess it won't be beauty that kills the beast! Hmmm... if I can't charm it, I'll try baffling it with bullshit!" Remembering a line from a different type of films, Lena yelled belligerently at the beast, "Take your stinking paws off me you damn dirty ape!" This time the giant humanoid insect didn't even bother to look down at Lena, although she thought it may have quickened it's pace a bit, suddenly eager to get it's bothersome prisoner to it's destination. "Maybe we should just wait until we get to wherever it is going, and hope for a better opportunity to escape," Said Hope, the tiniest of the eight voices in Lena's noggin and the only one that didn't represent a deadly sin, through the telepathic link Lena had with her EGO psyche or sometimes psyches. Lena sighed a big dramatic sigh, then answered her EGO psyche mentally, "Maybe so," then said authoritatively to the creature holding her captive as if she were in control of the situation, "Home, James!"
