Well, I was thinking earlier about all the times I've attempted to tell a story with Chase post accident, only to have one thing or another causing it to stop. And then it got me thinking about some of the stuff I originally considered for the RP but then gave up on because the storyline shifted in a way that just wouldn't have worked any other way. So, I figured I'd start this post in order to see what other abandoned story ideas you all had, but decided to drop.
Additional Edit: I have also decided to expand the thread to include trivia from those writing. That means any easter eggs, influences and misc. info can go here as well.
For Chase:
Originally, I had considered on having Chase regain his memory at various points in the RPs recently. However, feeling that it would be too cliche that he would recover his memory, I felt it was a bit more challenging and more dramatic to have him not recover his memory due to the damage caused to his head from the cave-in in Tampa. Plus, it is also realistic, as the degree of damage or injury to the head would result in no full total recall of memories (this was also inspired by the accident that author Stephen King suffered a while ago, when he was hit by a van. At first, he didn't remember anything before or after the accident. But as time went on, he recalled up to before being hit and shortly afterwards. In fact, Mr. King has stated that there are more things he can't remember about the event than he could). I will admit, if the Omec storyline in the show had played out differently and it became Earth vs. Omec (and if the Omec turned up in the game as well), I could have introduced the possibility that somewhere amongst the Omec technology would have been the solution to Chase's brain damage. But alas, not how it played out in the show and the game, thus that idea was abandoned.
Another idea I abandoned was for the upcoming story with Chase, where I had him pass out in the desert a few days after walking away from the Arkfall. He would have been rescued by an autistic Raider named Lug Nut, and Chase would have been inducted into a group of Raiders who hide out in an underground base in the Canadian desert, Chase becoming a complete outlaw and becoming a complete psycho out of his grief of losing Iri. Of course, by the time the group catch up to him, he's already too far gone. But, I decided against it, as it came off too Mad Max like for my taste.
For Iri:
For my Indogene female, after the discovery of the Omec narcotic, I was considering on having her delete the blueprint and still have it within her memory. Out of curiosity, she would make a bit of the drug for her to try and become an addict. As a result, it would have lead to a major strain on her relationship with Chase and everyone else. However, due to Belle Starr's character Lady Christianna and Brody taking the blueprint, the idea never got past the drawing board.
Originally, the first scene where Chase and Iri make love in Quest into the Forbidden, I originally written it to where it gave Belle the option to watch from the shadows or just heading back without disturbing Chase and Iri (which would have lead to a scene between Iri and Chase where they talk in bed about how they feel about each other, which seems rather cliched after recalling it). However, due to Belle dropping the champaign bottle and interrupting, it did present a different version of that scene, by having Iri hearing Chase tell Belle about how he felt about Iri after tucking Belle back into her bed in her room, and thus provided a more emotional response to Iri hearing this and her final admittance of how she felt about him.
For Chase and Iri:
I will admit, I planned on killing Iri Sewuel. It's not that I don't like her or anything like that (honestly, I love her just as much as I love Chase). But there are three different ways she would have died. The first one is if things were planning on going a different path had the Edmonton plot hadn't come up. Originally, Chase was going to hunt down the Inquisitors that kidnapped Iri, him killing off all but the one who used the control rod on her and shot him in the leg. Chase would have used one of the control rods on him, and force him to bite off the fingers on right hand until he agreed to be give any and all information that he to Chase and the group. Had Iri had been at the Presidio bunker, most of what happened, Chase would have followed the others end and ruthlessly and horrifically slaughter the enemy without mercy (this would have included two Inquisitors that would have given up in the fight and turn themselves in as prisoners). Chase would have been reunited with Iri, but it would have been short lived. Much like how what happened in the Madness! thread, I would have contacted Belle to see if she would have been okay with what I'm about to describe to what would have happened with Lady (but since the Edmonton plot twist came up, there was no need to contact her as the plot moved Chase away from the Bay for the conclusion of his side and Iri's side of the story, thus removing him from the area of Lady Christianna as well. I'm sorry Belle if this idea of a storyline that I had considered upsets you, as I know you don't mind people writing with your characters, as long as they don't kill them or maim them. But, since the Edmonton plot twist occurred, then this whole thing is moot and there's no real reason to be upset since the Edmonton twist changed the outcome of what I was considering). I would have had Lady shoot and kill Iri similar to how Iri's near death was in the main thread. This would have finally broken Chase, leading him to jump on Lady and try to beat her to death similar to what happen to Doppler Ganger in the actual RP thread (this would have been stopped by the others before real damage could have occurred, driving a wedge in his relationship to everyone).
Another version of Iri's death that was considered actually took place after a successful rescue in Madness! and would have occurred in another thread. What would have happened is that a female Castithan bounty hunter would have come to the Bay in search of Chase Lonehart due to the untold events of the Fountaine Incident, her being hired to find out what Chase did with a data chip of information. She would have worked her way into the group, and inadvertently fall in love with Chase, attempting to seduce him and try to get him away from Iri. This would have caused some conflict between the Castithan, Iri and Chase. Slowly it would have revealed she was somewhat psychotic, and she murders Iri in hopes that Chase would be with her. He ends up killing her with two shots to the chest and one up close to her forehead.
Another version actually hinged on the events of the show and the Omec. I was hoping that the final episodes would have lead into a war between the Humans and VC vs. The Omec, as I had considered on having a female Omec choosing Chase to be her Enchanted slave due to being enamored by his brutality, with the events being similar to what was described above with the female Castithan bounty hunter. Iri would have been murdered, but her death would have been much slower and very horrific (the Omec not only skin her alive, but removing her organs while she was still alive, aware and without any pain medication). But, due to the events in the show, this idea went out the window.
Now, no matter which of these versions had occurred, the following events would have followed:
He would have picked up Iri's body and carry her to his Challenger, him holding her lifeless body as he sat on his car, her blood seeping out into the Challenger's A/C vent below the windshield. Chase would have become completely disassociated with the group, tumbling farther down the dark path. One night, he would have noticed something odd about his Challenger, noticing how the headlights began flashing on and off on their own, him believing it was a short. He would have taken his roller to Top-Notch to have Rosa and Eren have a look at it, Eren to discover the cause of it. In the original untitled fan fic I was working on, which I incorporated into the RP for The Return, there is a mentioning in the dialogue between Eren and Iri about deactivated nanites in Chase's blood (this being remnants from the events of Quest into The Forbidden on the main forum, where a player who was previously with the RP gave Chase an injection of nanites to help repair his EGO unit after he had been tasered on the back of the next by a small group of kidnappers while in Defiance) and how they could be used to copy memory and a personality of the person they're programmed to copy. Well, she happened to find out about this bit of info because she experimented on herself with a sample of nanites from Chase's blood that she reprogrammed, them copying her personality and memories, acting like a backup copy of a computer program. Basically, Iri's memories and personality continued to exist even after her body was dead, and that they were in her blood that leaked into the car and they used the Challenger's wiring to send out a morse code signal to let him know that she was still alive. Eren manages to collect all of the nanites, using a scratch built ark brain to communicate with them. The fact that Iri's memories and personality were still intact, the only way to restore Iri was to get her a new body to inject the nanites into and would imprint her memories and personality into the new host, erasing the original host's memories and personality. There would have been a scene where Chase has the opportunity to subdue one of the ladies of the group (be it Belle, Lady or Erika), but his conscience finally comes back to him and him realizing doing that was wrong, so he stands down. At this point, Eren would suggest going to Defiance for Chase to find Doctor Yewll, who could help him.
Chase would arrive at Defiance. Of course, if the Omec scenario had played out like I thought it was, Yewll would have been there and be able to clone Iri's body from a sample of her blood. Of course, Doc Yewll is not in Defiance, so if the first two versions played out, Chase would have tried to figure out a solution with the help of Samir, who would have been reluctant to do so. One of the scenarios that I had considered was that Samir introduces Chase to a female Castithan comatose patient that had been discovered a week prior to Chase's arrival. Samir would have told Chase that Irisa and Berlin found her at the site of a horrific wreck caused by Raiders, who had killed her father and two brothers, and then proceeded to rape her and her mother before shooting them both. However, the patient didn't die because the shot was through her frontal lobe, leaving her body with anything to control it. This would have become the new body of Iri Sewuel (and it would have allowed for me to create a playable Iri for the game until the Indogene is released as a playable species. If ever, that is). An alternate version to this idea is that Iri, in her new body, would have taken a sample of her original body's blood and grow a new body, which would have taken two years, while she resided in the Casi body (I wasn't sure of how, but I never decided on if the Casti body would be permanent or temporary). This would have opened up a possible storyline where Iri exhibits signs that she is pregnant with Chase's child (which would have been sort of interesting). Another possible version came up due to the show's final episodes (which came a while after abandoning this idea all together), which could have had Chase installing Iri into a clone of Meh Yewll (the scenario being that there was a Yewll clone still in the tank at the Old St. Louis train yard where Kindzi set up her underground lab to create Yewll clones, and in the season finale, you can still see one inside the tank as Nolan and Company head up to the Omec ship, as well in the scene where Kindzi heads up after them), but it still would have left me without a playable Iri for the game.
However, with the Edmonton plot twist, as well as my realization that Sandy Bell's story is similar to what I had in mind for Iri after her death, I decided it was probably best to not kill off Iri and go with the scenario presented in Madness!, and its story continue on in the next RP thread. Hopefully, it will be interesting to see what comes out of it.
So, what about y'all? Anyone got any abandoned RP storylines/ideas for any/all of your characters?
