Volodja grinned. At least part of his plan was accepted by Chief. Exploding head of the Monitor was the signal, Giant and him were waiting. He saw two blue streaks rushing towards generator room - they must be Vo and the hothead. Time of deeds has begun.
Volodja's first shot took out that sniper on rooftop, he had discovered earlier. Guy staggered for a moment and fell down from the roof. His next targets/victims were Enforcers among working Technicians. Somehow he felt sorry for the latter Dark Matter. They were workers after all and carried lousy pistols for self defence, so he decided to shoot them only if they became real danger to him or his team mates. There was enough soldiers to shoot anyway. One of them made few steps towards alarm console, but smashed on the ground, Volodja's bullet in his head. Next Enforcer rushed towards generator room. Fast moving target makes aiming harder. Fortunately Ranger sniper rifle shoots twice in a row, so Volodja lowered his aim and ended Enforcer's run with two shots. Both of them hit running man's back and his falling body raised cloud of dust when he hit the deck.
Everything went on really fast - as soon he caught an Enforcer into his sight, Volodja pulled the trigger. Some ammo went to waste. Can't hit with every shot, but Volodja adjusted his aim right away and if first two bullets weren't enough, third and fourth did their job well. No reason for cloaking - Dark Matter was busy with running amok and did not seem to notice Giant and him.
Bulwark started to show some unhealthy interest towards Taffer, so Volodja had to distract it with couple of shots. Giant joined his forces with him and together they turned that piece of machinery into a pile of junk. Seemed that there weren't anybody around to snipe any more, so he looked around for possible hostile forces. Seeing nobody coming jumped down from his position, called the Giant to come along and started to run towards the base. He stopped for awhile to check the situation through his scope. It slowed him down a bit, but one can never be too careful. And he can win some time back, turning on his blur. Outskirts of the base were empty now, so he..turned blur on, run to his armoured truck and drove it through the base gates as fast he could. Whatever might happen, his truck is ready to be loaded.
He left the truck and grabbed his shotgun. It was time to secure their position and destroy remaining Dark Matter. Time to join Taffer and rest of the gang.

Hearing Taffer speech Raizar just shrugged. Maybe he muttered something about "gimme my rampage" but no one heard him. He waited for the signal then turned on blur and ran after Vo Kshaa. Once inside he spent a couple of moments watching as blurred Vo Kshaa is running and jumping among surprised enemies mowing them down with his shotgun. "You've made a nice decoy, youngling" Raizar muttered to himself. He did not see Taffer but was sure he was somewhere nearby, cloaked as usual. Raizar darted to the nearest generator and put his EGO to work. Occasional bullet interrupted the process so he had to distract himself and shoot an excessively watchful enforcer. After this he backed to the wall giving his EGO time to switch a main power. Vo Kshaa was a good decoy of course but definitely it was not enough. So Raizar waited for his own decoy get ready while he kept shooting DMs, then commanded his EGO to release his decoy and started to switch off a generator again. This time he was successful. Two more generators still worked along with a gate switch and worse, dark matter soldiers started to suspect something. Maybe someone finally hit upon the idea of shield turning or gate closing because DMs movements become more purposeful. Now they were trying to get to the gate switch and Raizar got some bad feeling he and team mates could be easily overwhelmed. He released another decoy and started to switch off another generator but decoy did not last long this time and bullets interrupted him again. He translated over team EGOs: "Too many of them. We can lose the gate. If we won't be divided it's may be better for everyone to go inside."

"Already inside," replied Volodja. "And we WON'T lose the gate. Get inside, Giant!" He got back to driver seat of his truck and drove it backwards, stopping gate from closing. "That should give us some time, so we won't be sealed off." After that he got out again and rushed into generator room. Seeing what was going on there he shouted: "Sophie dear! Disable the gate switch, please, while I play with bullies." Next thing to do was liquidating the member of Dark Matter who tried to finger the gate switch. Volodja's shotgun coughed twice and that was more than enough to stop his attempt. Few more shots cleared the area around gate switch, letting Sophie to gain full control over gate system. "Gates are ours now," Volodja announced "Since there is no need for keep them for closing, I better get my truck back in. You can do the rest of heroic stuff during next couple of minutes without me holding your hands."

Vo Kshaa ran around first hall they entered, creating a major distraction and pushing deeper into the hall where the shield controls were located, paving the way for Taffer to start working on it. When Taffer finally got to the controls, he ran further south where the walled off section was. He peeked through a doorway and saw another Bulwark, which was probably guarding the sealed door from mutants, but now was closing in to the control room. Vo pulled out his Milking Maid, shot eight cluster grenades on the missile carrying cart that was standing nearby, refreshed his Blur with the Power Stim and pushed the cart to roll fast against the Bulwark. Once they were about to collide, he jumped back into the doorway and pressed the detonation button on the Maid. A loud explosion of six missiles and eight cluster grenades shook the bunker and sent Vo off his feet. He rolled and quickly stood up, looking at the doorway which now led to a dead end of a completely collapsed tunnel.
"Good shot Vo", he heard Taffer's comment with some sarcasm in his voice, "Now we don't have to worry about anyone attacking us from the south. But let's not try that again, we still need all these tunnels to get our loot to our trucks. And those carts could be useful for that too".
Vo nodded with a sad smile and ran to the northern part of the room from where more incoming Dark Matter troops were expected, trying to be less destructive this time.

Running into the room where Taffer is, I now have my Amakuni in hand. As all the action is already going down, Taffer sees me blur and run past him and Vo as I jump and lunge my sword into an Enforcer. I continue just slicing through Dark Matter as I go further in. I stay just ahead of Vo, so I have backup and don't get cut off from the team. After the hall is clear, I just wait by Vo as we await our next push inward.

As everyone get in Raizar finally got time to turn off generators. "Generators are off. No worries about the shield now." He reported. "Seems now it's time to mop up and poke their computers. What do you want to find here?"

Gate was theirs and truck was safely parked inside, so it was time to continue that cavern tour and get couple of T-shirts and lot of high tech as souvenirs from their field trip. "Ave, Caesar, morituri te salutant" ("Hail, Emperor, those who are about to die salute you"), Volodja muttered when he went back in and joined rest of the team. "Lead on Gentlemen. There will be lot of work ahead us and I would like to get over with it before the tea time."

"As I've said, We'll catch it when we see it. You may want to look if your shipment was mentioned somewhere here", Taffer answered to Raizar and added to everyone, "But I'm afraid I have to disappoint you. This console is disconnected from the mainframe. Seems like someone tried to counteract what I did with their security system. Anyway, I doubt we'll get anything suitable except some general loot here, so we have to proceed all the way to the new passage. They didn't dig it for nothing, did they?
So let's move on. Vo, could you please stay outside and guard our trucks? We still may have mutants attacking the base. I'll give you the codes to control turret guns along the perimeter of the base, should be helpful. The force field is under our control now, so generators can be turned back on if there's need for it."

else where 3 dragoon cargo transports roll to a stop in front of the base bat groups been useing lately . blackgut gets out of the lead transport followed by dawn snowveil and two other helmeted people . dawn: so this is were my teacher been hideing at while we been training with yall . blackgut: yea perty much but i woudnt say hideing from the amount of equiment and parts they keep breaking . hopefully there here so i can check their mech hopefull their still in one piece and i can apply some upgrade to them to .dawn: then why did u bring a gungneir . blackgut : that one for u to use and remember keep me in formed on how it works.

I look through some of the crates that are in the room with us. I see crates of M.R.E.s, some basic supply crates and a gun crate. "Looks like we found their grocery pantry!" I lift up a couple of M.R.E. packs. "Who wants lunch? Dark Matter's buying. None of these supplies interest me much. So I am going to push ahead. Feel free to join me when you are done looking." I then start to move deeper into the bunker.
Meanwhile back at our base...........
Walking out of the base with a 15 men security team, the purple Bioman known as Lieutenant Kaj Oenfer greets the 13th Dragoon caravan.
"Greetings, Mr. Blackgut. Glad to see you again. So that's the young woman that you are bringing to train under the Harbinger, huh? He seems to atract Castithan women doesn't he? Let us hope that his girlfriend will approve of his new protégé, when she gets back."
Kaj then looks at the teenage woman. "Greetings Ms. Snowveil. I have some quarters being set up for you, next to the room that will be our new classroom for you young ones. The teacher's room is just on the other side of the classroom. And Captain Batman and his girlfriend, Lady christianna have a nice suite directly across the hall. Looks like Mr. Uljanov will have another student when they get back from the excursion. Mr. Blackgut proceed to garage 2. We will have lifts and crew there to help you unload your cargo and take it to wherever it must go. Forgive the mess. We have some renovations going on, and an old ground level vehicle bay being modifiedto also be a Mech Bay to house those space Mechs that you sent us since Captain Batman is certain that you are bringing us some land Mechs as well. I suppose it safe to assume that is what some of the cargo is? Anyway, just follow the Nomad truck to Garage 2 and they will help you get situated. Then take you to the new Mech Bay if you want to see what is going on there. Ms. Snowveil please allow me to show you to your new quarters."
Dawn Snowveil looks at Blackgut who nods his approval, then she reaches back into the truck and grabs her main dufflebag. Lieutenant Oenfer signals the Nomad and Convoy to proceed. Then he and Ms. Snowveil go inside. He gives her a basic tour of the base, stoping at the War room to get her base security clearance from Ms. Mac Guyver. Then after the basic tour, he takes her to her quarters, so she can get settled.
"Just get settled into your suite. You have the bed of course, a decent sized closet, and a decent bathroom. If you need something for your room, contact Lieutenant Robet. He tends to handle basic acquisitions. he and a Mr. Zork also handle maintenance if you need it. Feel free to look around the base. That security clearance will give you basic access, but will not get you into anything that Captain Batman or Commander Taffer have registered as officer only clearance or higher. Now if that is everything, I must go see to the 13th Dragoon convoy."
Ms. Snowveil shakes his huge hand and nods as he leaves. Then she goes about unpacking and settling into her new quarters. Kaj goes to Garage 2, to check on Blackgut and his transport convoy.

"No time to eat for me, Giant," replied Volodja "Only thing I am interested in are real valuable trinkets, like that hight tech. So I am with you. You probably missed me already, but are too shy to admit it publicly. Don't worry - my lips are sealed." Although he took some food with him just in case. Never know when you get hungry.
He smiled again, checked his shotgun and followed Atticus, ready to shoot anybody who dares to stop their weird battle duo. "Just don't get shot Giant. I know you would make a great barricade, but if I have to drag you to safety then I need a freaking fork lift do do it. So watch out and don't take any damage or I have lot of explaining to do, when Her Ladyship returns. Not to mention chance of getting hernia if I have to move your body around."
He hoped that Giant gets the humour and wont use him as his bullet shield. It would ruin future plans for Sandy and him if he looked like a Swiss cheese. His skin won't be even a worthy trophy to be hanged on a wall when it's full of holes. So they both must stay alive and well, get that high tech, fix his apartments and have some time in training room, so Sophie and Dinara could have fun together.
Their tandem stopped at the entrance of huge round room, where group of Dark Matter soldiers, lead by Monitor, stood looking at the door and waiting for intruders to appear. Atticus and Volodja were ready to take them out. All they needed was impressive entrance.
"Giant," whispered Volodja "That gang of simpletons made a major mistake. They are standing too tightly together hoping that thick formation makes them deadlier, but it also enables us to take them down much easier. We need a surprise moment. And I have something in my mind already."
He cloaked immediately, sneaked close to the group of enemies, took out his bio grenade, pulled the ring, waited couple of seconds before throwing it to middle of the group, rolled himself to cover immediately and getting up to his knees, he opened fire to eliminate remains of the group. Giant acted right after grenade had exploded and did the most hard work himself. Volodja just had to provide him with fire support and keep his senses sharp so he could spot enemy reinforcements on time. Since he had only one grenade left he had to do some battlefield looting. He found couple of grenade charges and a data recorder among remains on what was left of that Monitor after explosion and Giant's bullet storm.
"Maybe this gives us something," he said to the Giant, pushing the button.
Recording was damaged but they could hear words: "Mutants are breaching in....must protect our shipment...impossible to evacuate...send back up to Delores Park."
Volodja did not like what he just heard. If there was something valuable, it was behind the wall and surrounded by mutants now. And since Vo has blown up the tunnel leading straight to Delores Park entrance, it meant that they must use the long way to get there, blew up some walls and dig tunnels on their way and keep Dark Matter at bay at same time. Not a very pleasant future perspective and no way they manage to finish everything before tea time if things are getting more complicated than they already were. Unless they bump into everlasting Tea-Party of The Hatter and March Hare on their way. Considering how things turned out for their team, it seemed to be next thing to occur.

"Sure. Why not?" Raizar took some packs and put them into his backpack. "Who knows how long we'll hang here. Never know what might be useful."
He turned to Atticus and said:
"By the way, I've heard about you. Harbinger of Death, huh? You are quite a celebrity in some places, so to say. You know, all this gossips '100 ft. high, eyes like thunder clouds, breathe fire and tore people into two parts in a second'. Nice to meet you in flesh but I thought you are taller. Well, I am sure you can take care of yourself and of this young teacher so I'll try the consoles. Maybe I'll find something for myself at last."
He stayed in the control room for a while digging in the consoles using his EGO then went where battle sounds was heard but everything was done already. He said to everyone:
"Looks like I found that shipment traces. Not sure you are interested in it but from what I could find they convert a part of this base into the storage and that is why the mutants so interested in this. They want weapon for sure. And you want your knick-knacks. And I want... something valuable, whatever. So it looks like all the wishes lead there!"

"I am as tall as needed. Eyes like thunder? Perhaps. Breathe fire? No, more like lightning. Tear people in two in a second? Maybe, never timed it to know. Nice to meet me? Never got that before. Yes, play with the consoles. Don't need people in my way."
Jump ahead a few minutes, I am with Volodja in the next big room as he listens to the message and assumes they would really risk sending their supplies into Dolores Park even though it is under Mutant control. "Sorry to disapoint Fool, but that message is a ruse. They would not send their shipments through an enemy controlled area. More likely it is through the new tunnels in the deeper rooms under heavy guard, perhaps with a few active portals in there. However they may still send backup to Dolores Park to elimenate the mutant threat, so more reason to avoid Dolores if possible."

"You might be right Giant, unless..." Volodja continued. "Unless they did not managed to get their belongings out from there on time. That's also possible, but we have our chance to figure it out soon enough. We must move forward. After you, Giant. Ladies first." He laughed a bit and nudged Atticus in most friendly manner. "We have lot of work to do, lot of rooms to explore and lot of possibilities to get killed. So we better begin with all of that. Except that last part. That one is not a must and will be postponed in my notebook. Appointment with Death will occur after few decades if we are lucky enough. We both have or reasons to live. One of them is getting on each others nerves, but it adds certain charm to our companionship. World would be really boring place without it."

I make to backhand Volodja then go in further into the tunnels, not paying atention to if I made contact with his face or even caring. "you only want me to go first, because you are to weak to survive their first shot or grenade."
I reload the EXL LMG currently in my hands, and continue to carefully stalk forward, hoping Volodja will shut his trap for once, so we can get the drop on any Dark Matter we encounter.
