"Colonel Jameson owes me a lunch for saving him," muttered Wolfram. "Or at least a drink for saving his sanity." Atika replied with, "Or at least Joy does, as Brody has already made a couple bad impressions on Colonel Jameson. So I doubt another one would be a good idea. Anyway is there anybody else in this holo-suite that I haven't seen?" As Hope and Kabule walked over to the others, Hope said, "Well Lust and Sazri Kakusi are here somewhere. I think they were last seen in the Hall of Mirrors." Kabule smirked wickedly and replied, "Oh somebody definitely saw them in the Hall of Mirrors and screamed about it! Obviously she wasn't expecting to discover that a fucking-Grid-with-a-fucking-stick-up-his-fucking-butt could actually enjoy the fleshy delights of somebody like Lust! Howver given what the fucking screamer witnessed them doing, I doubt they created the stupid fucking midgets! What do you think Hagatha?" When Hope gently elbowed him, Kabule replied with, "what My Pet?...Oh was that the wrong fucking name?" Then with a knowing grin he continued, "So it's Agatha then? Fine Agatha, what do fucking you think? Could it have been them or were they way too busy fucking each other's brains out to be fucking responsible?!" Atika rolled her eyes, then after giving Agatha a chance to answer Kabule, provided Agatha felt it was worthy of her answer, Atika continued with, "Well I know I did NOT do it and as Yvette, whitney, Jalina and I were all enjoying our shopping spree and didn't even know about this holo-prgroam until Miss Marr mentioned it to Aunt Agatha, I don't see how it could be any of us. It is the type of thing Miss Marr might do for entertainment but I don't think she would put Hope at risk given how protective she has been of Hope since finding out about Hope and Mr. Kabule's feelings for each other , so I doubt it could be her. So of all the people I see or have already been mentioned as being in this holo-suite, that would still leave Mr. Kabule as a possible suspect. Wouldn't it?" Kabule's wicked grin widened as he said, "I would be at that and it is a great fucking assumption, but I didn't fucking do it! I didn't come in here to kill anything or cause trouble! I came in here because it was the only way that Lena would finally allow me to see My Pet again!" Yvette said, "And you didn't create them so that you could save Hope and prove to Lena that Hope is important to you?" Kabule sighed and replied with, "I am NOT my brother! I do NOT see myself as some sort of Avatar of ultimate Justice-and-Retribution! Nor do I have anything to fucking prove! Hope already loves ME and I already proved to her that I would do everything in my power to protect her back in that fucking Circus world we were forced into last month, so I have nothing to prove to My Little Bird! As for Lena, I don't give a fuck what she thinks of me! It will NOT change how Hope and I feel about each other and staging such a fucking heroic act would never change Lena's fucking mind about me, so it would be a fucking waste of my time and energy to fucking bother! Besides a fucking midget maraud is so SMALL-minded! If I did something in here, then it would have been something a lot more creative!...Such as turning this Amusement park into an Amusement Park of Doom! Perhaps with Volge clowns, Hellbug Monarchs run amok, Infected running rampant, Grid turning the rides against everyone, poisonous-man-eating-plants scattered across the midway, the images in the Hall of Mirrors jumping out and killing their owners and plenty of other such fun and wicked things. Not to mention that I would have most certainly given myself much bigger, cooler and deadlier weapons than my trusty switchblades to show off my skills, if it was to impress somebody as you are fucking implying! However I am fucking a survivor, so I would NEVER put my own life, Hope's life, or the lives of my few friends at fucking risk! No matter what Assicus fucking says about me!"

"I believe that my presence here won't be necessary!" declared Aunt Agatha. "Those few hours, I have spent here, are...memorable enough, so I believe that I should take a leave." If someone dared to hope that her declaration meant her immediate leave from the territory of Fortress K'Shaa, then that hope was premature because she added: "I will be in my apartment and trying to have well deserved rest which means no disturbance! I expect to be understood because I expressed myself loud, clear, with decent diction and without double entendre!" She swam out as a...well, not exactly like a swan but close enough if you replace swan with a goose, leaving others to do something whatever they found suitable, like getting removed by the walking and talking monument to tastelessness which in other words means that Broderick Smythe told them to get out because he wanted to work. "We should do as he suggested," warned Wolfram von Eschen. "Bill Gates once said: "Always be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one." I believe that Protectors have an experience with working while Broderick was in charge and I don't want to see the history to repeat itself. I'd suggest to have a chariot ride through Wienerwald (Vienna woods). That place is quite inspirational. At least it inspired Johann Strauss II to write his "Geschichten aus dem Wienerwald" which means "Tales from the Vienna Woods." And at least three talented film directors - Julien Duvivier, Victor Fleming and Josef von Sternberg - who made a film about Johann Strauss, called "The Great Waltz". After all events in Prater the cultured forest is a place we all could use to regain our emotional balance and if Chiph packed us a picnic basket then we have a good use for it there too. I can ride one of the chariots and Count can ride another." _________ Meanwhile Marcel Lestrange lit another cigarette and exhaling small smoke cloud, asked: "How many times I have told you to get yourself a decent satellite surveillance system for cases like this one?" "None!" was the reply. "Then this one will be one of those many many times when I suggest you establish yourself one," said Marcel peacefully. "It is a bout the time you learn strategic approach to things. And it may give you something to do in future. I actually discussed that matter with Volodja Uljanov and he seemed to be...supportive and informed me that he gave a thought to the idea some time, but since you are always busy with saving world and such, he had no time to deal with that matter. I might sell you...At least information about available satellites. You can also to choose not to pay attention to little me, of course. And my ideas." Then he released another dark little cloud and begun to hum... _________ "I guess we are have troubles of at least two kind," said Volodja Uljanov to Atticus Batman. "Indoor problems which include unexpected relatives, arranged midget attacks and different sort of shouting at people. And outdoor problems about which, you are about to inform me, if I am not mistaken. Let's make a fair trade - you inform me about outdoor problems and I will give you a report about indoor ones. Then we can decide how to handle them both."

After Agatha left, "Kabule remarked nonchalantly, "Glad she said rest and not beuty sleep because that option was obviously locked away from her long ago." Then Broderick Smythe told them to leave in his own way,. So Kabule replied with, "I don't care if the NERD wants us to leave, I am NOT going anywhere! This is the first visit Lena has allowed me and Hope to have together and I am NOT ready to end it just because 'Glasses' tells us to!" "We should do as he suggested," warned Wolfram von Eschen. "Bill Gates once said: "Always be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one." I believe that Protectors have an experience with working while Broderick was in charge and I don't want to see the history to repeat itself. After all events in Prater the cultured forest is a place we all could use to regain our emotional balance and if Chiph packed us a picnic basket then we have a good use for it there too. I can ride one of the chariots and Count can ride another." Kabule glared at Wolfram and Broderick. However right before he could answer, Atika said, "Look Mr. Kabule! If Brody needs us to leave so he can do his job, then we leave. Besides Doctor Von Eschen is right that it doesn't mean we have to end our afternoon of holo-fun. We just have to change holo-suites and holo-locations! So we don't have to go very far as I still have holo-suite #7 reserved for another hour or so, not to mention that last I looked at the reservation sheet, nobody has holo-suite #7 reserved at all tonight. So we can easily extend my reservation to last as long as we want this afternoon and evening. So all you EGOs and Psyches just have to do is transfer yourselves to holo-suite #7 and we will walk over and meet you there. Then Doctor Von Eschen will load his new program once we are there." Kabule remarked, "Fine, whatever, just as long as I do not have to go back to my locked fucking room yet! Unlike all of you, I do NOT get conjugals or leisure time much any-fucking-more! So I want to make use of it and spend it with Hope for as long as I am allowed BEFORE My fucking Brother and Hope's fucking sister both decide to banish me back to my room, sealed away from all fucking contact, for another fucking month or longer!...Besides a chariot ride sounds interesting. That is where somebody rides in a small wagon pulled my those horse-things isn't it? Whatever. What we do doesn't fucking matter as long as Hope likes it and I am allowed to keep spending time with her for a fucking while longer!...Oh and I suppose I better go in the Hall of Mirrors and let the two fuck-buddies know that we are being forced to switch holo-suites , as well as holo-locations!" With that Kabule walked to the Hall of mirrors and entered. He lecherously watched the fornicating couple for a minute or two before he said loudly, "He Wormy! You and your tattooed lady better finish up and get your fucking clothes back on now! We have to move to a different holo-suite because this one is having fucking issues. So is this program for that matter! So when we move to holo-suite #7, the old man is going to pick a different one of his fucking programs!" Then Kabule quietly admired Lust's naked form for a few seconds as they started to quickly gather their clothes, ignoring Kabule's presence. Then before they finished, Kabule turned and quietly left the Hall of Mirrors and re-grouped with the others. As Kabule walked up and wrapped his arms possessively around Hope from behind, he said, "They will be here, once they find all their fucking clothes! Then we can go like fucking 'Glasses' wants us to!" Not long after Sazri Kakusi and Lust came out and walked over to the others. So Kabule said, "See here they are now! So all you corporial people can get the hell moving and go load a program up in Holo-suite #7. Then we will transfer ourselves to that fucking location so that we can continue this fucking evening of entertainment!"
Meanwhile Marcel Lestrange lit another cigarette and exhaling small smoke cloud, asked: "How many times I have told you to get yourself a decent satellite surveillance system for cases like this one?" "None!" was the reply. As d Attila continued to watch the Volge from the new location his group had moved to with Brooke lounging on a new boulder of her liking nearby, and with the three of them still outside the fence as ordered, Attila said to Marcel, "You are probably right. However I have no say in that! That is for the Command team to decide. However I agree with you. I mean I know Atticus hacks into the Zenna array whenever he needs to, and it does give us satellite footage of the whole San Fran area, but from what I understand he doesn't have a permanent and stable link to it, but instead just a backdoor hack into it. I also know Taffer had a backdoor hack into several other satellite systems. However he never shared that information with anybody else as far as I know. So those satellite connections were probably lost to the Protectors when Taffer left to try to find Vo. However that means you will have to once again discuss it with Volo or one of the other Commanders. However at the moment it sounds like the only one of the three that isn't extremely busy is Sandy, and I don't think she likes you much more than Brooke does."
"I guess we are have troubles of at least two kind," said Volodja Uljanov to Atticus Batman. "Indoor problems which include unexpected relatives, arranged midget attacks and different sort of shouting at people. And outdoor problems about which, you are about to inform me, if I am not mistaken. Let's make a fair trade - you inform me about outdoor problems and I will give you a report about indoor ones. Then we can decide how to handle them both." Atticus replied with, "Lady considers those outside problems an issue with unexpected relatives visiting as well. You see while we have Chicken Bob sitting in here gesturing at a dream-tiara on Belle's had, although I don't have any clue why he is doing so, his BIG brothers that make up Belle's Volge community are all standing just outside our fucking perimeter! They haven't made any move on us and according to scouting reports some of the Volge even helped deal with a hellbug attack. However Fucking Pooper and Shondu gave us 24 hours to get rid of the Volge, or Pooper will do it himself! You know just as well as I do that means Pooper will start a battle that forces us to deal with the Volge on his terms just so he can look like a fucking hero! So I need you to try to figure out how to get Chicken Bob to send his big brothers away, while you also figure out why he is gesturing at the dream-tiara. However the latter is actually why Whitney and Lena are here. If we need to examine it, then we will need their expertise to do so. However finding a way to convince Chicken Bob to peacefully send away the other Volge, is our first priority. Since we have less than 24 hours to do so, before Pooper starts a Volge-Lawman War right outside our daking backyard!"

Lena Marr stared intently with unblinking sky blue eyes through the window of Belle Starr's stasis module speaking her thoughts out loud, "I could make a remote device linked to the Sleeping Beauty's Dream Machine but to do what?"
Whitney tilted her head in thought her long white ponytail swinging with the movement when suddenly a smile appeared on her beautiful porcelain doll-like face as she explained, "I've read the reports of the Protector's past adventures with earlier versions of the Dream Machine and although this one is smaller and appears much more sophisticated, I believe it's purpose remains the same. A person can escape into their dreams with that device. I believe that somehow Ms. Starr crossed from the dreamworld to Atlas' very real universe or dimension and it may be that when Ms. Marr killed Ms. Starr to sever that link Ms. Starr's consciousness - or what if you prefer the more spiritual term, her soul - retreated into the Dream Machine's world or some real world like Atlas' universe linked to it."
Whitney's ice blue eyes grew wide as she concluded, "From Mr. Bob's gestures, I think he wants someone to go in there and get Ms. Starr for she may be the only one who can send her Volge followers away peacefully. I believe Mr. Uljanov once traveled into a more primitive version of the Dream Machine, but I think it would be very hazardous for a real person's consciousness to go into one this complex."
Lena rolled her eyes putting a chalk white forefinger to the corner of her lush lips before remarking, "Yeah, I can see why. A world that gives you your heart's desire no matter what it is would be pretty tempting to never leave, whether that world was real or not. Belle was an adventurer at heart so I can see why she would love to be the first to explore new worlds and galaxies so she crossed into a world so she could do just that. Problem is things changed for her when she awoke so who knows what kind of world the Dream Machine sent her to this time, real or not."
"Such a voyage into the unknown would almost certainly be dangerous for real consciousnesses," Interjected Whitney with a pretty pout on her pale face, "However an EGO psyche should be able to travel safely and maintain contact with her host to take direction." Then Whitney laughed in a pleasant manner before saying, "A bit of a reverse situation with the EGO psyche as the actor and the host as the adviser."
With a wicked grin Lena volunteered, "Hope will go. I'd love to see the inner workings of Belle Starr's mind even indirectly!"
Whitney frowned before advising, "It would be better if more than one EGO psyche went - with a makeup of personalities like those selected for a Protectors' away-team - for who knows what one will find where no one has gone before."

"Too late for me to find out what Bob wants," replied Volodja Uljanov after reasonable amount of time had passed during which he got acquainted with ideas and information, kindly provided by Lena Marr and Whitney. "He wants someone who is able to get inside the Dream Machine, find Belle's soul and do other tasks, usually given to some mythological hḗrōs. I volunteered but got unanimously downvoted. The EGO group goes instead of me since I support Whitney's suggestion sending more than one EGO psyches inside." Volodja sighed audibly and admitted: "Now I have to figure out where else I could hide to avoid another meeting with Aunt Agatha, the Matriarch of the family. That Dream Machine mission sounded so tempting and safe, considering the general context. I need something equally useful to do as long as it happens in safe distance from my aunt, like making a short travel to Shondu's and speak with Cooper on my way to buy us some more time. At least they are negotiable people. Other major players like Lena and Marcel and Colonel Jameson who is in charge of EMC (Earth Militia Corps) are under our very roof at moment, so they won't interfere and we can limit the amount of participants of this particular Paradise Standoff - there will be Shondu-Cooper team, the Volge and us staring at each other with lesser chances of outside influence which could break the fragile balance and trigger the mayhem, which means ordinary day at the office, except we are supposed to be on a vacation."

The Synth Sister Brooke listened intently to Marcel Lestrange say as she lounged atop her boulder... "I might sell you...At least information about available satellites. You can also to choose not to pay attention to little me, of course. And my ideas." Then he released another dark little cloud and begun to hum... Brooke's feline ears perked up listening to Attila Constantine comment, " ...However that means you will have to once again discuss it with Volo or one of the other Commanders. However at the moment it sounds like the only one of the three that isn't extremely busy is Sandy, and I don't think she likes you much more than Brooke does." "Delicious fruit sometimes grows out of shatko," Brooke remarked with a Cheshire cat smile then reported via her comm to Commander Sandy Bell-Uljanov, "Mis- ter Lestrange thinks a satellite might do a better job of keeping track of these Volge than us out here watching and asks why we don't have one." Sitting in the Command Chair in Fortress K'shaa, Sandy frowned her blue eyes narrowing in thought replying, "That is a good question. When the ark debris belt formed it destroyed the vast majority of satellite and none of those that survived were in any orbit to help us. Then when New York got terra-formed and the the ark belt was mostly destroyed, a few new satellites were launched by countries and corporations with the resources and will to do so. When Belle was with VBI, we used to use their satellite on occasion when we needed it and it was in the right orbit or we could move it to the right orbit. We are in good with the Votan Collective and E-Rep and my intel says they both have a few, so I guess we could borrow their's but again it depends on where their satellites are orbiting. Probably the best thing would be if we would deploy a satellite of our own and..." A grin crossed Sandy's pretty tan face and her eyes widened as she exclaimed, "We have the space ship, we have the resources, and I bet we have the brain power, so we should deploy our own satellite! I'll run the idea up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes! I still prefer a hands on approach but it would be better if we could see from space our people on the scene so please thank Marcel for the idea for me Brooke. Sandy out!" Brooke's cat-like eyes turned to Marcel and with a toothy smile said, "Commander Bell-Uljanov thanks you for your seed of an idea, then she planted it and it bore fruit! Free fruit because I don't think she'll be paying anything for it mercenary. Oh and it did sound like she likes you more than me for I wouldn't have thanked you."

I replied with, "That sounds like a smart idea but how many of the main team's EGOs do we send? I know Dinara says she is willing to go with Hope, so that is two so far. However I see a couple problems with the EGOs going. I think the only combat-trained EGOs from the main team are Sandy's, and the Constantines' although the Constantine's EGOs are only close-combat fighters from what Dinara tells me. There is also the fact that Dinara is certain that there is no way Kabule would stand for sending Hope...or the others into such a dangerous and unknown area without another fighter going with them. I must admit, I have to agree with Kabule on this one, even if Dinara said it as Kabule is off spending time with Hope and has no clue what we are talking about at the moment. So I think Kabule should go as well, and will live with whatever risk it will cause to me. However once we decide on that, the next question would be; Which EGO should lead the team? Kabule is the survivalist with the most training, however he is not a leader or a follower for that matter, but more of a lone wolf. Normally he would just put his own interests first and allies and missions second. However with this new development between him and Hope I am guessing that as long as Hope is around and wanting to befriend and teamup with the others, Kabule will at least tolerate being part of a team, as it seems he now puts Hope on the same pedestal that he puts his own arrogant ass on. Besides I feel it is always good to have at least one wildcard on the team, and Kabule definitely qualifies. So I am thinking that the team leader should either be Sophie or Sarge. However I think all of you have talked to all the other EGOs more than I have had a chance to, so I am open to suggestions. The same goes for any alternate personalities that may volunteer to go, if their owner allows it. As I said, I know Kabule will insist if Hope goes, and Sazri Kakusi is an explorer so he would be willing if I asked him. However if he goes, that may weaken some of my abilities and with the Volge right outside that isn't a good idea. So I think it is best if Kakusi stays here in my head. Volo, as for your part, as far as I know Pooper is staying at Shondu's for the time being, and when our deadline is almost up then he will come to this side of the bridge. So I say we leave Brooke and Attila outside to monitor the Volge activity which seems to be unchanged. Lena and Whitney will monitor the dream-machine and our Dream-team's progress from here. So I think we can handle things on the home-front, if you want to go to Shondu's Consulate to talk to Shondu and Pooper. However I do see the merit Taffer had in making the rule that: 'Teams should always consist of at least two people to watch each other's back no matter the situation.' which is why that rule is still intact even after I took Command. So take somebody with you. Since Wolfram is busy with his new charges (Micfi and Chiph), I think you should take the Count or somebody else of your choosing with you so you at least have somebody in your corner and don't feel outnumbered. Besides if you go by yourself, Pooper will assume that I sent a sniper to watch your back. So he probably wouldn't let you see Shondu. However if you take somebody who he doesn't see as a threat with you, such as the Count, then you have a better chance of being allowed an audience with Shondu."
A grin crossed Sandy's pretty tan face and her eyes widened as she exclaimed, "We have the space ship, we have the resources, and I bet we have the brain power, so we should deploy our own satellite! I'll run the idea up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes! Free fruit because I don't think she'll be paying anything for it mercenary. Oh and it did sounds like she likes you more than me for I wouldn't have thanked you." Attila remarked, "I don't think Atticus would thank him without prodding from somebody either. So I suppose she likes him more than Atticus does as well. Of course I think the only time I have ever heard Sandy thank Atticus was in a sarcastic tone. So, I guess that means she likes Marcel more than she likes Atticus for that matter. Although I guess I can't blame her given the violent and troubled history that she and Atticus have with each other from what I know or have heard."

Post by Lena Marr on Jun 7, 2018 15:19:43 GMT
In the Batman Bunker's morgue, Volodja Uljanov said, "Now I have to figure out where else I could hide to avoid another meeting with Aunt Agatha, the Matriarch of the family. That Dream Machine mission sounded so tempting and safe, considering the general context. I need something equally useful to do as long as it happens in safe distance from my aunt, like making a short travel to Shondu's and speak with Cooper on my way to buy us some more time. ...there will be Shondu-Cooper team, the Volge and us staring at each other with lesser chances of outside influence which could break the fragile balance and trigger the mayhem, which means ordinary day at the office, except we are supposed to be on a vacation."
"No rest for the wicked," Said Lena Marr with a grin, then added with a laugh, "Better to vacate than vacation in the lovely Bay Area."
Atticus Batman said, "...So I am thinking that the team leader should either be Sophie or Sarge. So I think it is best if Kakusi stays here in my head."
"Supreme Commander Batman sir, excuse me if I wasn't clear," Explained Whitney with a frown on her rose petal lips, "Whoever sends an EGO psyche into the Dream World will be as busy as a real EGO psyche is when their host is in combat. In other words if you send Kabule or any of your manifest alter egos, although not completely incapacitated, you will not be able to do much other then to monitor and advise your EGO psyche or they will not be able to maintain their presence there. If they go someone with their full capacity should remain in command of Fortress K'shaa such as Commander Uljanov or Commander Bell-Uljanov. Or if you stay in command here, Sophia or Sarge would make good team leaders as well as fighters. Hope should go because of Lena's technical expertise. I'd go instead myself but... I know I have dreams I could easily get lost in and I have no one who could draw me back to the real world like an EGO psyche has if they get tempted."
Whitney listened silently as Atticus and Voloda discussed the possible meeting with Ara Shondu when a sweet smile crossed her porcelain doll-like face as she had a sudden idea, "Commander Uljanov, you could take your aunt to to meet Consul Shondu! There is no one more upper class - or I should say upper caste since Ara is Castithan - in Paradise so they should get along swimmingly! Jalina and Atika might like to go with you too since neither have met Ara before! I'd love to go myself, but I should stay here in case anything goes wrong with the machine linking to the dream machine," Then she turned to Atticus and her ice blue eyes widened as she recommended, "However I do think someone's EGO psyche with psychiatric training such as Dr. Von Eschen's if not Commander Uljanov's should be on the away team since they will be traveling through if not in Ms. Starr's mind in the Dream Machine."
"Speaking of which," Lena Marr interjected with a wicked grin, "I better get to work on that linking machine. You got a place for me to work Atty-baby?"
Waiting for his answer, Lena began to hum "I've been working on the Railroad" in a low tone.

"Whitney's idea is fresh, reasonable and even possible," said Volodja Uljanov. "Although I must warn you that Aunt Agatha's concept about making compromises and reaching agreements tends to be simple - she expects everyone else do as she wants. Aunt Agatha is as diplomatic as a heavy tank, but I could turn that feature into our gain, I think. The persisting problem will be taking Aunt Agatha with us, which significantly reduces my hope to spend some time without her. But since it is for lesser evil then I must accept the idea. Now the easy part - we must convince others to follow that plan as well." The others left the holo room after having a picnic. "Imagine - a forest without a single highwayman. Or a troll. Or any other incident. There weren't even ants or lurking psychoanalysts, except Siggi," said Wolfram von Eschen right before Volodja appeared in front of them and delivered Whitney's idea to the merry company. "You mean that I have to send my EGO unit in to do something useful?" asked Wolfram from Volodja to make sure that he heard it right. "Jawohl," confirmed Volodja. "But if you don't like the idea then you can refuse." "Quite opposite! I am delighted to send Siggi. He keeps talking about different forms of hidden consciousness so it does him good when he can ACTUALLY see how a decent unconscious actually looks like. And if he gets stuck there, then...then I just have to get myself a new EGO psyche. Protest ignored, Siggi. Maul halten und weiter dienen, as they said in Austro-Hungarian army where you didn't serve. But you serve Protectors now and if I am willing to risk then you will risk with me." _________ "Of course I am familiar with shtako, Mademoiselle," replied Marcel calmly. "No plant grows without manure. I should know that because I am not a shtako pile as some people mistakenly think, but a the good gardener, taking care of his crops by fertilizing them, watering them and removing all weeds and dried leaves and twigs and weak and sick plants. Just like the Great French Revolution removed degenerated nobility by cutting them down by guillotine." Marcel grinned devilishly and asked casually: "I thought that cats have more practical approach to gardening, like using flower pots as their outhouses, which, by the way arouses a question - who is responsible for changing kitty litter in the lovely little combo of the Le Compt de Frou Frou and you?"

I know I have dreams I could easily get lost in and I have no one who could draw me back to the real world like an EGO psyche has if they get tempted." Whitney listened silently as Voloda and I discussed the possible meeting with Ara Shondu when a sweet smile crossed her porcelain doll-like face as she had a sudden idea, "Commander Uljanov, you could take your aunt to to meet Consul Shondu! Starr's mind in the Dream Machine." "Whitney's idea is fresh, reasonable and even possible," said Volodja Uljanov. Now the easy part - we must convince others to follow that plan as well." I replied to Volodja with, "It is your call on whether you take Agatha, Jalina or somebody else. However it looks like Wolfram will be needed here. So we will need to find something to do with Micfi as we can't let her wander unsupervised so....if Lady is busy and she approves then have Atika take over babysitting duty of Micfi for now. Either that or she be locked back in the Brig. As for Chiph send him back to Ralph's care, unless Micfi's current guardian (of either Lady or Atika depending on what Lady decides) is willing to keep track of both children." "Speaking of which," Lena Marr interjected with a wicked grin, "I better get to work on that linking machine. You got a place for me to work Atty-baby?" Waiting for my answer, Lena began to hum "I've been working on the Railroad" in a low tone. As Volodja excused himself from my basement morgue, I glanced at Lena and couldn't help but chuckle as I said, "As if you don't already know where my workbench is in my main armory down here? Just use one of the workbenches in the basement armory, or if it is a tiny project there is always the Coroner's desk over there in the corner." Then I contacted Sandy via EGO to fill her in. After I informed her of the current situation in my bunker, as well as Volo's assignment to go talk to Shondu, I said to Sandy, "So you see Sandy, whoever sends an EGO or Alternate-consciousness into Belle's dream-machine will be stuck in a monitoring-and-advising-role as if the host is now the EGO. So far the verified team consists of Hope. Volodja went to personally convince Wolfram to send his psycho-babble-EGO in as part of the team as well. Attila and Atika are busy so their EGOs will not be going. Whether or not Marcel's EGO goes is up to him provided Lena fills him in on the situation. However I think we could use a little more tenacity and diversity for the dream-team, as well as a possible leader that can pull such an odd team together and keep them on task. As long as Kakusi stays with me, I can send both Dinara and Kabule in. The same goes for you if you send Sarge in. I think Kabule and Dinara would be beneficial with his tenacity and her diplomacy. However Sarge's leadership skills would be very useful to hold the team together as well. However we do still have a few choices. Choice 1: I send in Dinara and Kabule to help diversify the team, with Kabule's aggressiveness helping bolster it's combat abilities. So that would put you in complete command while I am busy, which would open your eyes to just how dificult my position really is. Choice 2: You send Sarge so he can lead the team and I send nobody. That way I will be fully here to stay in Command. Choice 3: We put Kaj and Lebeau in Command and since Colonel Jameson is on base we can see if he would be willing to report to the War Room and act as their advisor if needed. So that would free you up to Send Sarge to lead the away-team, while also leaving me free to send Kabule and DInara in to help bolster the team. From a well-rounded team perspective, I think choice 3 is the best choice.Besides the team of Kaj and Lebeau have run the base quite a few times while we were on away missions. So I am sure they can handle it. Especially with Colonel Jameson advising them as needed. Not-to-mention that if it is needed, we can have Lady and Amber use my Bunker's Command Center to check in with the War Room periodically so that they can keep those of us in my basement morgue up-to-date on the outside situation if needed. Not to mention Lady will also be able to use our home-bunker's defenses to keep us safe from outside threats if needed. Of course Volodja is also a hailer call away, if the Command team needs to contact him for his advice as well. Of course, if Marcel doesn't send his EGO on the away team, then he can either continue to hassle your scouts or find something else to keep himself busy as usual. Not to mention that if he is not indisposed that means that if we leave Kaj in command as I suggest, his team can also enlist Marcel's aid if needed...which Marcel would agree to just to keep Lena safe while she is busy down here. You keep saying I never run things past my Command team and wait for their advice or opinion before I act. However as Whitney and Lena need some time to prepare everything and Volodja has already given his opinion on most of the situation before he took his leave to go get ready for his diplomatic visit with Ara Shondu and Pooper, I actually have the time to do so for once. So that is what I am doing now by talking to you. However time is of the essense so we only have until Lena and Whitney are ready to send in the away team to decide who the team consists of. However I really do think that for the best chance of success, it would be best if we choose Choice 3. Sarge in command and armed with all his military training. Dinara and Sigmund as the diplomats and Dinara does know Capoeira, so she does also have fighting capabilities if needed; unlike Sigmund as far as I know. Hope as the technical advisor; and Kabule as the team's brute-squad (and wildcard) to help insure their success and survival. That means our Command team of Kaj and Lebeau (hopefully with Colonel Jameson advising as needed) would keep things under control here, while Volodja is busy with his diplomatic discussion with Shondu and Pooper. Then as soon as he returns to base, Volodja will take Command of the War Room until the away team is back from Belle's dream-scape. So now is where you bite my head off as usual, before you finally tell me what you think of my choices. Then you either pick one that you agree with, or advise me of what options you see that I do not, which you have proven to be so good at which is why you are part of the Command Triad. Then we go from there."

Supreme Commander Atticus Batman said from the Batman Bunker's morgue, " ...So now is where you bite my head off as usual, before you finally tell me what you think of my choices. Then you either pick one that you agree with, or advise me of what options you see that I do not, which you have proven to be so good at which is why you are part of the Command Triad. Then we go from there."
In the Command Center, Commander Sandy Bell-Uljanov sighed as her eyes narrowed as she thought about what he said, regretting that she was coming off as a termagant to him rather than a trusted adviser but given their past history maybe it was inevitable, so merely replied, "Off hand, I have to agree that those are our only options and choice number three is the best of the lot. Captain Oenfer and Chief Security Officer Lebeau are both very competent officers and have shown many times that they can run the command center both effectively and efficiently. Furthermore Colonel Jameson is a great choice for a military adviser just in case the Volge break the peace."
Sandy took a deep breath knowing Atticus would probably disagree with what she was about to say but feeling it was her duty to say it anyhow said, "But about the EGO psyche away-team I do have one reservation: Kabule. I have full confidence that Sarge will be an excellent team leader but I have doubts that even he can keep Kabule from going from 'wild card' to 'loose canon'. Plus I'm not sure we need a wild card on the team at all. They are going into Belle's mind and, for the sake of argument let's say she isn't dead, Kabule can do an awful lot of damage there if he acts unfettered. Just saying!"
"Of course sir, it's you decision," Remarked Sandy resigned to the fact that Atticus probably wouldn't listen to her advice. "I'll report to the Batman Bunker sir just as soon as I'm relieved of duty by Kaj and Remy."
Back in the bunker's morgue where' Belle's stasis pod was located, Lady Christianna put a small chalk white hand on his large forearm looking up a him with big pink eyes whispering, "Be nice. Means well."
Lady then volunteered with an enigmatic smile jabbing a small thumb at her chest, "Micfi my niece, my problem!" With a quick kiss for her husband she promptly left for the holo-suite where Micfi Newlo was enjoying the virtual picnic.
Shortly after notifying her lover and criminal partner Marcel Lestrange through their private EGO channel of what occurred and what was occurring in Fortress Kshaa, Lena Marr whistled as she worked in Atticus' armory taking pictures of his more unusual one-of-a-kind weapons with a miniature camera when she was on her infrequent breaks from cobbling up the device that would link them into Belle's dream machine.
Meanwhile in the rocky area north of the Batman Bunker and Fortress K'shaa, Marcel looked up at the feline Synth Sister lounging atop a boulder watching the immobile Volge horde as he grinned devilishly and asked casually, "I thought that cats have more practical approach to gardening, like using flower pots as their outhouses, which, by the way arouses a question - who is responsible for changing kitty litter in the lovely little combo of the Le Compt de Frou Frou and you?"
Brooke's yellow cat-like eyes flashed angrily before she then grinned back at him showing her many sharp teeth before answering, "Mercenary, you do know how to rub my fur the wrong way. However to do away with any misconception you may have, I am no more a cat than I am a human. I am truly unique as is the Count. You on the other hand like your Castithan bitch are a dime a dozen. However, cats and I do have one thing in common: we don't shit where we sleep. You on the other hand gladly take you shatko into bed with you every night!"

"Mademoiselle happens to be wrong in her assumptions," corrected Marcel with cool politeness. "I would not call ourselves actually cheap. If you want a proof then you should look at the cost register of the annual budget of the Paradise Protectors. You can see that we are worth more than moderate sums. Our net worth surpasses the measures of economy and becomes the study matter of astronomy. As for our uniqueness, then I am afraid that if anyone even bothers to write a dictionary, then the word "unique" would be illustrated with the portrait of Lena. By the way - remind me not to remove my shoes when you are around. Not because my feet smell - they do not - but because cats have a nasty habit to express their negativity by shitting into people's shoes. Just in case if you happen to share that features with cats too." _________ "Smaug is asleep," said Volodja Uljanov in front of Aunt Agatha's room door. "And the otherwise brave hobbit hesitates to wake her up." "Maybe you should knock?" suggested Jalina. "You mean that I should knock on a most delicate manner and since nobody heard us so we can go away, giving an impression that we were doing everything possible to fulfil our duty?" asked Volodja with a smile. "Or should I knock loudly, wake her up and face the consequences like a man?" Jalina smiled back at her father, reached out her white hand and knocked quite loudly. The door opened but instead of Aunt Agtaha and her possible facial mask - the ordinary combination of the gooey cream and cucumber - they looked into the face of Smedley who whispered: "Lady Tupper-Ware is having her beauty sleep, Sir. If it's not an emergency then may I suggest you to wait until she awakes? You can also leave her a message which will be passed to her as soon she is ready to hear it." "I am afraid that the matter is urgent and complicated," replied Volodja. "We have an opportunity to visit an influential representative of the highest Castithan Caste. A true crème de la crème. I would rather avoid the situation where Lady Tupper-Ware feels left out if if don't invite her with us. We need your assistance, Smedley." "You can call me Smedley, Sir. I see what I can do about your request if you are not mind waiting outside for the sake of safety." Smedley closed the door and after some quiet but tension filled moments opened it again to let Jalina and her father inside.

I nodded at Lady and replied with, "I do not like being nice unless it's to you and the children, but will try. Now if you don't want or need Atika's help with Micfi and the twins, go ahead and notify her that she is free to go with Jalina and Volodja if they haven't already left. I am sure she will get as much out of that trip as Jalina will."
After Lady lifted my helm and gave me the kiss and left, I replied to Sandy via EGO saying, "Sandy normally I would agree with you about Kabule. However Sarge will have to very important things on his side to keep Kabule from going too far off the rails, that didn't exist long ago. That is of course this new-found affection that Kabule has developed for others. From what I understand, even though he is still a fucktard and always will be, he actually treats the main team's EGOs decently and does seem to genuinely be trying to make friends for the first time. Then more importantly are the close sibling relationship that he and Dinara have and, according to Kakusi, Kabule actually listens to what she has to say and usually agrees to it even if it is very reluctantly. Then there is the fact that he seems to have feelings for Hope and according to Dinara and Kakusi, Kabule is trying his best to keep her from hating him like most people do. So to keep Dinara and Hope from hating him or being extremely upset with him, I believe he will stay with the group....Besides since they will be with Sigmund as well, this will be a way for Sigmund and Wolfram to observe how Kabule interacts with others and especially Hope, without Kabule feeling like all eyes are on him.
Besides if Belle is alive and sees Kabule, she may leave the dream-machine just so he can't haunt her dreams. Of course that means she may deck me as soon as she wakes up for sending Kabule as part of her wake-up party, but I can live with that if it means getting her back....There is also the fact that if I don't willingly send Kabule to watch Dinara's and Hope's backs, I am certain he will try to find a way to hack into the device and go to protect them without our approval or knowledge. So it is better to willingly send him. Besides Kakusi and I will be acting as his and Dinara's EGOs, so Kafool will have me yelling in his head for once. However I will also stipulate that Kabule is to hand his weapons over to Sarge. That way Sarge can decide when Kabule will be allowed to be armed, and I am guessing that, since Hope is Lena's EGO psyche, Hope will happily give Kabule a pat-down or strip search before the team heads out to make sure he is truly unarmed, if Sarge requests it. Besides we can stipulate to Kabule that this is the best way for him to have a chance at earning back some of the freedom that he has grown accustomed to over the last year, sort of a work-release program, if you will."
Meanwhile in the Holo-suites, after Lady gave Atika the go-ahead to join Volodja's team, if they haven't left yet, Atika smiled and replied to Lady with, "Oooh a field-trip where I may not have to kick somebody's arse! Thank you Lady! If you want me to bring anything back for you, just tell me what and I will do so!"
After Lady responded to the excited young Irathient, Atika sent Volodja an EGO message saying, "Commander Volo! I was just given permission to join your group if you haven't left yet!"
Then while waiting for Volodja's response, Atika pulled out her hailer and contacted Jalina's. Since it went straight to voicemail, Atika left her a message saying, "Jalina! I just got permission to go with you if your father says it is O.K. and if you haven't left yet! Isn't that great?!....However as your best friend, I would NEVER want to interfere with your daddy-daughter time! So I will only go if you want me to. After all I never had a chance to know my father, and as your best friend I want you to have that privileged opportunity and would NEVER do anything to harm your relationship with your daddy! So if I am intruding then please just say so....although I would really love to go with you! Besides I heard some of the best vendors in Paradise setup at Shondu's Consulate regularly, so if time and your father permit it, then you and I can do some shopping together after Commander Volo is done with his important meeting of course!"
Outside of the Fortress's fence, Attila was listening to the developing squabble between Marcel and Brooke. However instead of saying anything like he wanted to, Attila isteand smartly ignored it and focused on his surveillance task while he updated Sandy on the fact that the Volge were still doing their best statue impressions, choosing not to bother his commanding officers with the petty squabbling between Brooke and Marcel yet.
As Sandy got Attila's report, Kaj came back into the War Room as she had requested. Shortly after Remy Lebeau and Colonel Jameson walked in to see why Commander Belle-Uljanov had requested they both report to her in the War Room right away.

"Thanks for coming in on such short notice gentlemen," Began Commander Sandy Bell-Uljanov from the command chair after Captain Kaj Oenfer, Chief Secutiry Officer Remy Lebeau, and Colonel Jackson "Wild Jack" Jameson walked into the command center; then as they stood at ease in front of her, she briefed them on the situation both inside and outside Fortress K'shaa.
"I've already mustered my men M'am and the 53rd Artillery Regiment is ready to do whatever you want whenever you want, whether it be defensive or offensive," Remarked Colonel Jameson before asking, "Pardon my question M'am but if Ms. Starr is dead why not just give the Volge her body and let them go on their merry way? Or if not that, why not let me take out a task force, surround the hostiles and wipe them out in the crossfire?"
A little worried about the nature of Colonel Jameson's queries, Sandy stood up with both tan hands on her hips as she replied, "Good questions Colonel and let me answer them in order. First given the nature of her death and the Olmec stasis pod whose science we have yet to fully understand, we don't know if Ms. Starr is really dead or not. Furthermore Belle is family and you don't abandon family - whether they are dead or not! Second I have no doubt that you and your men could wipe out the Volge assembled just outside the fortress but what of those underground in the surrounding areas? We have seen what a Volge swarm can do and if not for Belle's and Supreme Commander Batman's actions, the whole Bay Area would be a wasteland where only Volge lived. We do not - let me repeat we do not - want to precipitate another Volge swarm."
Sandy grinned to lessen any tension in the room moving from in front of the command chair to make way for Kaj to occupy it ordering, "Now because I and Supreme Commander Batman are needed for a classified mission, Captain Oenfer is in command of Fortress K'shaa with Chief Lebeau as his second in charge of Fortress security until further notice so you will be advising them Colonel on military matters. Colonel let me make this crystal clear, you will be advising them only and the 53rd will take no action against the Volge without orders from Captain Oenfer or Chief Lebeau. Let me also add that we appreciate your help and expertise in this matter, but I do not want any confusion as to the chain of command."
"Yes M'am." Answered Colonel Jameson with a curt salute staring straight ahead.
As the big purple Bioman took his seat in the command chair and Sandy left the command center for the Batman Bunker at a steady gait, it was his turn for Colonel Jameson to look worried as he measured the man in the command chair with a steady gaze. During the Pale Wars Biomen were merely weapons to be aimed at the enemy and then let go to destroy anything in their path. In his experience, Biomen were ordered not the ones giving orders but Colonel Jameson could tell by Kaj's bearing that this Bioman was a horse of a different color both literally and figuratively to those Biomen he previously had experience with.
With a good-natured grin and a smart salute, Colonel Jameson said sincerely to Kaj, "My men and I are at your command sir!"
*****
Around the same time in the wasteland north of Fortress K'shaa, the Synth Sister Brooke yawned lazily as she lay on her stomach comfortably atop her boulder watching the un-moving Volge when suddenly a sixth sense of some sort told her to look in back of her to where Fortress Kshaa lay. Her pretty head rose up as her black feline ears twitched when she heard the tell-tale rattle of pebbles rolling down the hill in back of where their observation post lay. Popping her retractable claws from her fingertips Brooke growled a warning, "We got company guys!"
As the three watched ready for whatever might come first a tan hand and then the rest of a handsome soldier dressed in EMC fatigues and gear climbed over the ridge to their present position and said with a grin holding both empty hands forward palms open, "Easy folks, I'm not here to give you any trouble. I fact I come bearing gifts. In my backpack I have fresh cooked food from Ralph - enough for all of us!"
Brooke smiled licking her lips sensually as she looked at the blue-eyed human with the rugged good looks up and down before saying with an approving grin as she retracted her claws, "Hmmm, tasty! And who might you be Handsome?"
The soldier flashed a winning grin showing his perfect white teeth saying as he reached up to shake her hand, "Sorry m'am, I forgot my manners. I'm Sargent Robert Reeves of the EMC 53rd Artillery Regiment although I guess it's just the 53rd Artillery regiment now that the EMC is gone. Colonel Jameson was asked by the Protectors' command to be a military adviser during the current Volge situation so he sent me up here for a look-see. Actually, he asked for a volunteer and since I wasn't doing anything at the moment I volunteered for the mission." Sargent Reeves' grin widened as he looked up into Brooke's yellow cat-like eyes as they shook hands and she held his hand a little too long as he added with a twinkle in his crystal blue eyes, "Bringing y'all provisions was all my idea! And please - call me Rob."
Reluctantly letting go of his warm hand Brooke's toothy grin also grew bigger as she replied while arching her back seductively showing her ample cleavage, "As I said, hmmm, tasty - Rob! Please call me anytime you like!"
Brooke laughed before repling in good humor as she tossed her black mane of hair in a fetching manner, "I'm Brooke, no last name," Then pointing first to Attila and then Marcel, "And that is my fellow Protector Attila Constantine and that... person... is the mercenary and criminal Marcel Lestrange."

"Hmm," said Marcel Lestrange. Since this conversation had to be private, he didn't said it out loud. "In the sense of tactics, I can appreciate this new pawn on the table, but strategically it might cause way too much unwanted complications." "By those complications you mean this unexpected meeting," interrupted Moira. "Just asking.""Can not a man have some privacy even inside his personal mind any more?" asked Marcel back. "It was supposed to be a soliloquy.""Ever since you have ME inside your mind, you CAN'T have any proper soliloquies any more," said Moira mercilessly. "You may continue now and I might add some supportive "hmm"-s myself when I feel like it.""Très bien! I think that dear Count found himself a friend and an ally," stated Marcel. "Tactically this young man is suitable to cause trouble in paradise where Count is a small and relatively ugly looking Adam and Brooke is Eve with tail and cat ears. But strategically it breaks the balance between things. Let me explain." "I will let you do that, but hopefully can you make this more interesting than your introduction to the first book of Moses?" yawned Moira. "You see. If this young man replaces Count then I am afraid that he might take a permanent leave and that means that I can not make his life interesting any more. Michael Corleone suggested to keep your friends close, and your enemies closer for the reason.""Wasn't Machiavelli the one who who suggested something similar?" "Machiavelli talked about the potential to win over former enemies to one's cause, rather than staying close so one may keep an eye on them. I have no intention to win the Count over. I have to agree with Che who said: “It’s a sad thing not to have friends, but it is even sadder not to have enemies.” But if the Count leaves then I will not be able to keep my eyes on him.""Should have guessed that you quote your fellow power addicted leader type who actually enjoyed eliminating his enemies, practised mass terror upon people and made fools to buy his franchise items.""Nothing wrong in reasonable amount of sadism, Moira! Especially when it serves needs. And if you are luckier than Che then you will also be alive to enjoy the money and the fame you are making from selling your items. Shall we return to the main topic now? If the Count leaves it will bring other complications as well. I can not use him as an argument against Brooke the Cat. Protectors might be protective, but we know them and are able to smoothen things with them if they discover that I did it. But we can not say the same about Jameson's militia - hurting one of them might turn militia against our family firm and that might have a negative impact to our business. Same applies to using Brooke as an argument to affect her partner." "Eliminating this young man for good might cause exactly those complications you were talking about.""I am aware of that and that is why there will not be anything violent...Maybe some violence will be included but that would be a reasonable amount of necessary violence. Before I begin with preparations of being Cupid once again, I want you to make a readers digest version of our dialogue and deliver it to Lena. She does not like the long talk, so you have to deliver her the very essence of our conversation. You can keep the juicy parts if you like.""There aren't any juicy parts! Just a dry lecture which doesn't reach to the level of those, given by Volodja. But I will do as you asked. You can also count on my support on keeping Brooke and the Count together. Not because I agree with your ideas and concepts but because I like the Count. And I like Brooke. And I like to see them as a couple.""Whatever! Get into the work now!"
