Despite the bright lights Frankie wooted, "Woooooo!" She held her alcoholic holiday beverage up while swaying to the Christmas party music blasting out of the NeedWant. Everyone was having a jolly time with the masquerade theme. A snowman had asked her what she was supposed to be and she tilted her head at its lack of knowledge about Christmastime folklore, "I'm the Mogwai!""The huh?" "MOG-why? Ancient Christmas Eve creature? Hungry little musical fuzzy teddy-thing?" She moved her hand providing hints, "From China?"The snowman shook its head grinning. "Sunlight will kill it. Water makes more. And after midnight, the morning of Christmas, you feed it and then it turns into a disgusting evil demon of havoc." The snowman clearly didn't know. Frankie rolled her eyes and signaled at the bartender for another refill. She headed in the direction of that circular bar stepping lively to the beat of the awesome tunes.

"May I sing?" asked Wolfram von Eschen, hand around Chloe MacGyver's waist. "It's a party after all and I just got inspired by the whole Mogway theme. And you can sing along if you know the words. If not then...just sing "Ta ta tadada..." when time is right and it will be a perfect performance, so...One...and a two and a three:
"Start spreading the news, I'm leaving today. I want to be a part of it, New York, New York..."

Lady Christianna sat at the table at the Christmas party alone, waiting for her husband Atticus Batman to come off duty and join her. Her friend Belle Starr had helped her dress up as something called "Frosty the Snowman," for the Christmas costume party, giving her an old top hat and a knit scarf, saying that as a Castithan she was the right complexion for the role. Lady had never seen snow let alone a snowman, and just thought she just looked silly, so she sat alone sipping her steaming hot cocoa as she sadly watched the young lovers Sandy Bell and Volodja Uljanov dance slowly to "Jingle Bells," something Lady previously thought impossible to do, but that they seemed to do in both a rhythmic and romantic way. Sandy had fake antlers on her head, and a blinking red nose affixed to her face, but otherwise wore a slinky black party dress.
"I could look sillier I guess," Thought Lady to herself, and an enigmatic smile graced her face as she took another sip of cocoa, then glanced over to where Belle stood wearing a Santa hat on her tousled blond head and a red dress with white fur trim three sizes too small, or so thought Lady, which made Belle look even more beautiful if possible.
Belle's blue diamond eyes would widen as she engaged in happy animated conversation with the group of adoring fans of both sexes that surrounded her. Every once in a while, her rose petal lips would spread into an easy smile, and her pretty freckled face would break into sincere laughter at what someone in the crowd would ask, then she would give a quick and witty answer. Lady envied Belle's easy demeanor when in front of a group, for Lady herself tended to meld into the surroundings at such gatherings, being the perennial wall flower. She didn't hate Belle for her ability to mingle and shine at a party, for Lady now admitted - and more importantly accepted the responsibility for - being socially invisible. It was a role she had finely crafted for herself, much like the role of celebrity that Belle Starr had made for herself.
Lady briefly broke character and waved when she saw Vo Kshaa, Belle's long suffering Prince Charming, calmly sipping his spiked hellbug eggnog as he sat speaking with his long time friend and figure of one-named mystery, Taffer. The lanky Irathian smiled his lopsided grin and nodded to Lady in response, his purple Mohawk waving as well, but Lady noticed his cyan eyes never really left Belle. Vo was undoubtedly head-over-heels in love with her, and she with him, but he never seemed to mind the time Belle spent with others in conversation, even to the point of flirting with them. Lady couldn't even imagine her doing that to Atticus, or Atticus doing that to her, but as Belle said to her, Belle and Vo were soul-mates and that was all that mattered.
Lady sighed silently, not really understanding Belle and Vo's relationship, but respecting it none-the-less, thinking to herself, "It takes all kinds to make up a Post-Apocalyptic world."
Boredom was quickly overcoming Lady, so she was contemplating leaving the party to join Atticus. His sister, Erica Widowmaker, had promised earlier at the party that she would relieve him of his duty as Commander of their Protecters team in the makeshift War Room upstairs in the Need/Want and force him to join the party. When Erica had been sitting at Lady's table, Erica was wearing her usual military fatigues, saying when asked that she didn't "do" costumes. Belle had called her a "Grinch," which completely confused Lady as she had no idea what that was, but then Belle was called away by her admirers before she could ask. She asked Erica, but the Irathian didn't know what a "Grinch" was any more than Lady did, and replied it must be some sort of mean spirited creature of human mythology. Erica left soom afterwards, and that was almost fifteen minutes ago - much longer than the seventeen year old Castithan was patient enough to wait for her Irathian hubbie.
Lady was just about to stand up and leave when her enigmatic smile broke into a full grin as her friend and psychotic killer-for-hire Lena Marr walked in with her crime boss boyfriend, Marcel Lestrange. The Frenchman was not wearing any costume, as that would not be dignified for a man of his assumed station, but Lena wore a skin tight green furred costume that left little to the imagination with an elaborate face make-up that still let her natural beauty shine through, although her pretty sky blue eyes still had that unblinking predator's look.
Several of the humans at the party said "Grinch" in recognition as Lena walked in, and Lady muttered in amazement, "Oh... so THATS a Grinch! Guess I'll stick around to see what happens next."

When Erica came up to our makeshift War Room she insisted I go party and Kaj Oenfer, the Bioman, also agreed. He even insisted that I put on a costume that he had gotten for me as it was a masquerade party. When he insisted that it was very fitting of the Harbinger of Death and showed me a picture, as well as the legend behind the creature in question, even my sister had to agree with him. So I reluctantly agreed and went to put on the 'outfit' that Kaj had gotten me, consisting of a fur covered body suit, a horned mask, and long sharp prosthetic teeth. Once I was fully adorned in 'character' and had the accessories to go with, I looked into the mirror. Staring back was a huge half-goat, half-demon with shackles on his arms and waist (whether they'd be used as a way to bind the beast or for him to use as a whip un the legends, I wasn't sure. Although either or both were possible.) holding a big birch staff in his right hand and carrying a big bag over his left shoulder. After admiring the menacing beast that I was now adorned as for a little longer, I did some minor adjustments. Then I headed to the stairs leading to the main floor.
I walked downstairs into the Need/Want and as I entered the room, the music stopped and everyone looked at me. However nobody but Kaj and Erica knew what I would be wearing, so nobody but them knew it was me at first. Therefore instead of seeing the mighty Harbinger of Death, what they saw was scary in a different way. For what they saw was a creature of old Earth legend called the......"KRAMPUS"!
As the music slowly started back up, I walked across the room and over to Lady's table, with several people giving me a wide birth and watching me carefully. I could see some fear and curiosity in Lady's eyes as I approached. So as I got to her table I said calmly to her, with love showing in my voice and eyes, "You look lovely, MY Snow Angel...Or should I say my Snow Lady. Sorry if the costume scared or startled you. Kaj insisted that this was befitting of me and after reading a little about this creature, I must agree. You see, it is from an ancient Earth legend and is called: Krampus. Apparently while their "Saint Nicholas or Santa Claus" rewarded the good children, "Krampus" severely punished the wicked. However for you, I will ALWAYS make an exception, MY Snow Angel!"
After I was done explaining myself and my costume choice so she would relax again, I leant down and gave her a kiss, trying not to nick her with the sharp 'teeth' as I did so. Then I sat beside her. Setting the big bag that Kaj handed me on the floor next to the table, I leaned my staff against it. Then I just admired Lady's beauty, as I waited for her to get used to my costume choice.

"Strange," said Volodja (he wore a costume of the Nutcracker, but since he didn't had a mask, he resembled him after his transformation). "I can swear that I wasn't aware that here is a mistletoe on the ceiling." "Liar!" replied Sandy. "But when to think about it, then there wasn't any before. How the fu...sorry about that...one got there so suddenly?" "Christmas time is full of miracles," grinned Volodja. "When to think about it, I could find a rational explanation, but...am I willing to find it? That's a question. Maybe we just use the opportunity to follow some old Christmas traditions." And he slid hands around his girlfriend. Even with fake her antlers and that red blinking nose she was stunningly beautiful. "You mean..." Sandy managed to say. "Yup." said Volodja decisively and kissed her, showing thumbs up to a huge Sensoth who looked at them with a wide grin on his face who stood near them. Even if there isn't any mistletoe at the beginning, a resourceful mind finds an opportunity (and asks Tic Tac to help him out with that matter). The party continued, music played and DJ switched tracks as fast as a monkey. Next son was one of golden Christmas hits. It was "Last Christmas" by Wham! WRONG! Actually it was but "Silver Bells." by Dean Martin this time - more suitable for a waltz than aforementioned pop song...

"Erm… haven't you mixed up Christmas with Halloween Taf? I think you're scaring people off" Vo asked, looking into the glowing eyes of the smiling skull mask his friend was wearing. The rest of Taffer's head was covered with a red hood decorated with white fur. A distinctive wig beard attached to his red robe instead of his chin was adding to the surrealistic and uncanny look. " Have you read Hogfather by Terry Pratchett? Ho. Ho. Ho," Taffer asked in reply, mocking the hollow voice of his character. " And who are you, Little Mouse?" "Well, I'm Throttle from Biker Mice From Mars", Vo answered, scratching behind one of the big furry ears attached to his head. A couple of insect-like antennae on top of his head were adding to the picture as well as a brown rat's nose attached to his face. His Mohawk haircut was there as well, slightly breaking the character but fitting the overall biker's image. A black leather vest was barely covering his muscular body and blue jeans were completing the usual biker's outfit. "I know it's not Christmas themed, but it makes people smile and it's all that matters." He put his yellow sunglasses slightly up and gave a wink to Lady with his cyan eyes. Then he put his glasses back on. "I also thought the Vinnie would fit me better," Vo continued, "But imitating the skin color would be too much of a hassle." Taffer nodded in agreement, but also thought that the real reason Vo had chosen one Mouse over another, was those yellow sunglasses he was wearing throughout the entire party. He didn't mention it though, not wanting to bring down the festive mood of his old friend, whose covered eyes were now focused on Belle. " Besides, I think we have a much more scary creature around here," Taffer noted, nodding towards Krampus who just entered the hall.

Belle Starr couldn't help but smile as she looked at her friends and compatriots enjoying themselves at the costume Christmas party at the Need/Want bar in Defiance. Belle briefly wondered where Chase and Iri were, but then chastised herself for not remembering that they had wanted time to themselves to rekindle their loving relationship in the privacy of their rented room upstairs. Jingle Bell Rock had just begun playing, when Sandy Bell removed her blinking red Rudolph nose as she danced close to Volodja, playfully putting it on top his head saying that now he was a proper ambulance for rescuing people. They laughed and happily continued dancing, Sandy's blue eyes looking into his brown ones and soon they were both not noticing that anyone was on the dance floor but themselves, although Wolfram and Chloe as well as several other couples had joined them there.
Belle glanced over to the sitting Lady and Atticus, who was dressed as the monstrous Krampus. Lady Christianna had crawled up into his lap and was sitting there like like a small child does on a department store's Santa Claus. Lady was whispering into his ear, presumably telling him what she wanted for Christmas, and soon they were merrily guffawing at whatever it was she was suggesting, although Belle could swear she heard some mention about the chains he was wearing and what they could do with them. A blush ran up from Belle's swan like pale neck to her freckled cheeks as her imagination went wild with what she thought she heard them say.
In embarrassment over what she was thinking, she quickly looked away from the married couple to where Lena dressed as the Grinch was also sitting in a lap, that of the crime boss Marcel Lestrange. The French kiss may have been invented in his home nation, but Belle could see that Lena had perfected the art, making Belle wonder just how far one's tongue can go down the throat of another. When Lena's chalk white hand moved to Marcel's crotch and was doing decidedly un-Grinch like behavior, Belle's face turned even redder and had to look away once again.
This time Belle's blue diamond eyes were drawn to the newest member of the Protector's team, Frankie Archer. The statuesque beauty was stepping lively to the beat of the music as she sidled up to the Need/Want's circular bar. Belle hadn't had much time to talk to her yet, but had heard that she was often seen reading from a bible when not in action. As a somewhat-lapsed-but-still-believing Catholic, Belle had been excited to discuss religion with her, especially in this season that celebrated Christ's birth, but time never seemed to allow it. Belle hoped that now that the threat of Fontaine had ended, they might find the time, but that time was not here and now. Belle's smile widened looking over the joyous crowd, thinking as her eyes settled on Vo Kshaa as he sat with his friend Taffer, "No, this is the time to party with family and friends - especially loved ones!"
Belle sashayed over to the table, smiling at the two men, then saying to Taffer, "Merry Christmas y'all! Mind if I borrow this handsome gentleman, Taffer? I believe this here dance is mine!"
Belle grabbed Vo's calloused red clay hands in her two delicate pale ones, leading him to the dance floor with a warm smile, and as they danced, she leaned her tousled blond head gently against his broad shoulder, closing her eyes and listening to their hearts beat as one, thinking, "Joy to the world, good will to men - and women too! I don't think I've ever been happier in my life..."
***** "I wonder if one dreams when they are in cryogenic sleep?" Asked a mysterious man's voice out loud to himself as it's owner looked with cold eyes through the small frosted window at the frozen blond beauty within the mist filled chamber that imprisoned her. "I'll have to ask Ms. Starr when she awakens in two hundred years."
An errie laugh echoed through the near empty underground vault as the mystery man walked away, passing two other filled cryogenic chambers as he did; but Belle heard neither his harsh receding laugh nor the soft continual beeping of the chambers' monitoring equipment but only her own slowed heartbeat as she happily danced with her soul mate in her mind.
