I look at the boy. "Honorable intentions and flawed logic? Hmm you must get that honor from your mother. The flawed and one-side logic is obvioulsy from me. Sorry about that. You are right about what I am, nothing I can do about that. It will always be part of me. However I was told once that life follows death. So by calling death, I clear the way for life to continue it's path. With your mother, I do feel more like the Harbinger of Love but that name is weak. People attack the weak and avoid that which offers death. You aren't really helping her though. If she is blind then she can't see the trouble. If she was blind in her quarters then she would never have seen her attacker. So she would have been killed, as would you. Instead you are both here because she saw where Lena was and was able to defend herself and you.
Even if she never met me, she would still be here because she feels it is where she wants to be. Without me in her life she would never have learned what she knows about defending herself. there is also the fact that you are hurting her while trying to help her. it is causing her mental pain that she can no longer see. It is hurting her mentally that she can't remember anything since almost 3 months ago. Because she is now blind and can't remember any more recent events of her life she feels alone and afraid. It is not me that is making her afraid. It is the darkness and lack of memory. Fear is a part of everyone's life. A fear of the unknown is what makes us strive to learn more. Fear of being alone is what pushes us to follow our hearts and find the one we love. Even without her memories, her heart is telling her that she belongs with me.
Yes her gratest safety is most important, but by taking away her sight and memories you are hurting her and bringing her pain. It is not up to us to decide what she should remember or what she can see. It is up to her. We learn from our past. She can not learn from a past that she doesn't remember. Also if she doesn't remember me, that means she doesn't remember you. She doesn't know she is pregnant so she won't fight to protect you. Without memories of you or me, she has no real drive to live. So if somebody tries again to kill her, she will just give up and allow it because you took away the knowledge of her true love and the knowledge of you, as well as some of her freewill by making her blind and taking her memory. So you took away the biggest reasons for her to want to live, mine as well for that matter.
However I am a fighter so as long as there is a chance to get her back, I will keep fighting for it. She has a right to see and remember everything that she has been through. Besides if you give her her memory and sight back, then the both of us can help her learn to protect herself better. Then she will be able to protect herself even when we aren't able to be in the room to protect her. Also with her memory back, she will be able to remember everyone and everything she met and learned since meeting me. With greater knowledge of everything comes more survival knowledge so she can better protect herself and you.
Also if she remembers everything, then she can leave medical and make more friends. More friends means more good friends. More good friends means more people that will help keep you both safe and happy. So if you restore her memory, she will have her reasons to live back. As well as her reasons to want to keep learning and getting better at everything. Which includes making close friends and creating one's own family. With a big close knit family there are more people to help the two of us keep her safe, and with her memory and sight back, she will have the drive and ability to better learn how to survive and protect herself and her child, you.
I love you but I am afraid I will still do everything I can to restore her sight and memory because if you truly love somebody then you must also respect their choices no matter how much you may disagree with them. I will even walk away from everything I know if she asks me to because I love her that much. So if you won't help her, then I will go back and allow our friends and fmily to do everything that they can to help her. It is a great thing to keep loving, helping and protecting her, so keep being a good boy and do so.
However it is wrong to force things onto somebody, and especially somebody you love, just because you think you know better. Yes you know of some of my past and it was bad. However your mother has taught me to care about others. She is a very good person, but without her memory and sight she doesn't really want to live. Please do not take away your mother's drive to live. A good kid wouldn't do that. He would want his mother to be happy and safe no matter what. So restore her memories and sight and let her make her choices. Then you and I can do everything in our power to keep her safe and happy instead of just one or the other. People need both to truly live. Please give her both.
I can feel her losing her will to live, without sight and memory of either of us, from here. Surely you can feel her starting to give up as well. So if you still refuse to give her her sight and memory back, then I must go do so. However you are still my child so I will always love you and want to see you. Even if I am obviously a bad father and bad person to love. So feel free to actually contact me when you want to talk, if you ever want to talk, our grid connection does make that possible. Now come give your father a hug, before I go do everything in my power to help the woman we both love more than anything."

The boy in the white loin cloth frowned as he regarded his father with his electric blue eyes and shook his purple shaggy hair, saying, "You misunderstand me Father. I did not cause Mother's ailments, nor can I cure it, but I can keep your friends and your efforts from restoring her vision and memory. Perhaps it is this free will that you speak of that is the reason Mother's memory and vision have not returned. Perhaps she does not wish it. But your argument that I should not force my opinion on her has merit, therefore I should let you and your friends try to convince her otherwise... I guess. So much of your world - soon my world - makes no logical sense, like a mathematical algorithm does. It would be so much simpler if the world followed one order, that of logic. Sister says that would only make the world more boring, but she thrives on chaos while I on order."
The body sighed, then his enigmatic smile returned as her ran forward and hugged his father's legs, saying, "I cannot help with Mother's choice, but I will not hinder your efforts either. I enjoyed our talk Father, for Sister just says meaningless drivel, although she was right in this case. When I told her what I was going to do as to Mother, all she said was that I just shouldn't! No reason, just I shouldn't! Pure chaos is so infuriating! We will meet again soon Father!"
With that, the boy broke his hug and ran away bare footed into the darkness, soon even his purple light disappearing into the blackness of Lady's EGO, leaving Atticus alone to think, "Did he say sister?"

Bell said to Kakusi, "Yep, we are a very trying race! Get it? Trying as in tiresome, but also as in trying to do something? Its what we humans call a double entendre, a type of humor," Explained Belle, not sure where to start a conversation with a Grid, "Hi, I'm Belle Starr! I'd shake your hand, but you are a little tied up at the moment - oops, another attempt at humor! We humans often revert to humor when nervous! Do Grids have a sense of humor? I sure hope so! If not, then this really isn't going well at all! Sorry! So, tell me all about yourself - but only if you want too!"
Kakusi look at Belle Curiously. Then in his deep and drawn out monotone voice, not at all raspy like his host's, Kakusi says, "For...hmm how would your kind put it? Ah yes. For cattle you organics are interesting. Especially you humans(Pronounce hue-mahns). The other organic races just fight or run. Humans must try reason first. So boring. Makes taking you too easy. Doesn't matter. I am fine with the host I have. Hmm guess since you introduced yourself I should be just as "civil". I am Sazri Kakusi. Not Grid like that Volo fleshing calls me and DEFINITELY NOT Kakusi Skragi as Atticus calls me. I am NOT predator shit. Although I was once a cattle driver. That fleshling can be so trying. Everyone calls me Kakusi. However you and that EGO lady Sophie may call me Sazri. Now what were those questions you asked? Oh yes humor. We Grid have no time with such a mundane thing, as we are busy growing across the universe. However Atticus, Kabule and Dinara do say I have a sense of humor. What term did you use EGO youngling?"
Dinara appears in holographic form and sticks her tongue out at Kakusi, then giggles. "Hiya Belle! You look a lot like big sis Sandy! Nice to see ya! Don't mind Kakusibutt! He doesn't mean to be arrogant. It is just hard not to feel superior, with a lightning rod up tha butt-butt!" Dinara giggles again. "Anyway I guess it must be hard to be part of a race that thinks they are superior but keep getting wiped out by their "cattle"! As for his humor if ya haven't already guessed, it is dry and boring! However I guess the actual definition for it is deadpan, like the rest of him! Anyway I hope Atty comes back soon. I also really miss Lady! She is sooo nice and makes Atty so much easier to live with! Ok gotta go! Don't let Kakusi get to ya. He isn't as bad as he used ta be! Besides he may be an arrogant electric Remora, but he is OUR arrogant electric Remora!" Dinara giggles again and disappears.
Kakusi rolls his eyes, then looks back at Belle. "That EGO girl seems to be more full of energy than me and I am the true electric being. Dinara is not bad for a youngling. Too much energy though. And her girl talk is worse than Kabule's self pity. Although it is nice to sometimes have somebody to talk to. Alright you know my name and my sense of humor. Next you wanted to know about me. You know I am not sure why I am bothering to tell you, since most inferior species do not actually care or understand, but I will do so anyways, since you asked.
I manned an Ark. It crashed shortly after your Pale Wars started. Only six Grid from that Ark survived. Myself and five others. We were rendered immobile. Some of the pale fleshlings, like Atty's Lady, I suppose you call them Castithan, found us and put us in cryo-tubes. I felt my comrades' pain and they mine, everytime those ghosts experimented on us. We must have been their pincushions for around a year. Then I sensed my comrades being released one by one and feeding or taking hosts only to die shortly after. The pain was almost unbearable. One even got killed by his new host as he took it over. I was last to be freed. So alone. All dead, I heard and felt nobody anymore! I longed for death. However I saw a red one tied to a table so I though perhaps I could take him as a host. If I succeeded then I could get my revenge before death. I took him over, but he had an Compu-guy, an EGO. Him and his EGO both fought but I managed to gain entry into the red fleshling's body. However the EGO kept me from taking control and the stubborn Fleshling's will for vengeance kept me from leavin or killing him. So I was trapped, forever trapped. For years and with the help of three different EGOs he argued with and fought me and tryed to forget me. I fought back. Some battles I won, others they won. Then with the destruction of his third EGO, he was rendered comotose. For a year or so, after I think around 22 years with them, I was once again alone. In a body I had no control of. Shackled to a bed. I could just watch as he slowly withered. His death meant my release. I should have looked forward to that. However after so long with him, I missed his voice even if it was always an arguement. So I started concentrating and realized that while he was comotose and his new EGO didn't activate, I was able to use that EGO to send minor messages to that furry fleshling Torc. I managed to convince him to take the host, as I am sure you realized by now I mean Atticus, off those chemicals and let his body and EGO have a chance to react and heal naturally. Atticus did. His EGO barely worked until that Zhena Array explosion and I helped her along. They may be trying on my nerves, but those three atleast talk to me. I am no longer alone." Fear and sorrow somewhat noticable in his usually emotionless voice for a couple of seconds, "The emptiness was so very horrible. I never want that again. So I do hope that Atticus or that Volo can help Lady. Not even a fleshling deserves the empty and lonely void!"
Left alone blackness of Lady's EGO, leaving me alone to think, "Did he say sister?" I look around and think for a second.
Then I say outloud "Did you say sister?! Dak that was confusing. Snow Angel if you can hear me, you need to come back to us! We will never give up! I will NEVER give up!!! Please answer me while I am here! Dak. I guess I better go back. Just hold on longer. I am coming for you!"

"Quantum sufficit, we had already," said Volodja when Wolfram demanded another glass of brandy. "I am getting slightly nervous too, but I need my head clear and since I am really petty and envious man, I won't grant you a pleasure of drinking alone, while I have to be sober. We better check them at Medical Bay again. I can worry about their decisions there too."
Volodja got to his feet, returned plates and glasses to Ralph and left canteen with grumpy Wolfram who muttered something about Volodja being dry and boring as a biscuit, but it was only a formal protest, because Wolfram also new what was on stake there. And he still had some of his product left for him to use when needed, although he already looked his steadily vanishing supply with certain concern.
"Hello again," Volodja greeted Belle and Atticus after arriving his destination. "We could not bear excitement any more so we came for the fresh news bulletin. Still all quiet in Western front?"

Kakusi looks at Volo and chuckles an electrical crackle sounding chuckle. Then in his usual slow very deep monotone growl, Kakusi addresses the new guests. "Well look who it is. The meatbag who prefers electric beings. I can not fault you for that, we are best. Greetings, it has been a little while, Volodja. Oh and who is the fossilized fleshling? Greetings Oldling. I am Sazri Kakusi at your service. If you are here to see Atticus please leave a message at the beep...........Beep." Kakusi chuckles an electrical crackle sounding chuckle again at his joke, his eyes flickering an electric blue as he does.

"Hello Kakusi. It's been long time indeed, but situation is almost the same, so if we should meet each other next time, then I do wish that circumstances will be more pleasant. And I see that your cocky attitude hasn't changed a bit since our last meeting. But I was not counting on that anyway. And this is my old friend Wolfram von Eschen. I will introduce him in a hope that you won't eat anybody, who's name you know," said Volodja calmly. It was their second meeting and if Atticus left Kakusi in charge of his body then he was probably inside of Lady's mind again like in their first meeting on their Moon mission.
"This time you can forget about getting electrocuted, Kakusi. We have whole different kind of trouble with Lady this time and I see that Giant is already dealing with that matter. So keep his apartment clean, until he returns. My body is my temple and those other words. Actually his body reminds me a temple indeed." Then he turned to Wolfram and explained:
"Wolfram. You don't have to worry about Kakusi too much. He might be little bit arrogant for our taste, but it's in his nature. Grid thinks about themselves as superior, compared with common folk. Does it feel familiar, since you are an aristocrat yourself, Wolfram?"
"Halt's maul, Volodja! I have not being an aristocrat for decades now and I already forgot how it feels to be blue blooded." But he sat into respectful distance from Kakusi anyway, because avoiding unnecessary risks enabled him to stay alive for decades, even if he was dead drunk most of the time. And now with relatively sober head and newly gained purposes in his life, he wanted to risk even less. Good sign was that he didn't run away any more, like he did, when Belle's first therapy seance turned up to be too big bite for him, so he is getting used with this sanctuary for all kind of misfits and it's population now.

Marcel was still in his bunk bed, sunken into thoughts, but this time they were about his future. As soon as he gets out of here, he will pay visit to good old Varus Soleptor, who has a suitcase with one million scrip, which rightfully belongs to Marcel. Those two double crossing douche bags owed him a compensation for sending him to a mission which might easily become a suicide one. And he already had a plan in his mind to neutralize Varus from now on. Killing him was not in his interest, because Marcel needed him alive and under his influence, to have some free space and relative safety in Paradise. But he could use a skillful assistance if he wants to succeed with his plan. Lena would be perfect partner for him on this gig. She is greedy, amoral and ready for everything, but she hated his guts, so...But it was really a shame not to have her, because she would looked great in outfit, Marcel was planning to use. Even imagining Lena in it made him grin and rose certain funny feelings in his loin area.

Kakusi looks at Volodja. "Why would my attitude change? Electric beings are better. We do not age. We do not get sick. We do not die as easily. We are stronger. We are more powerful. Anyways, yes meeting this way is not good. I am quite sure that our Giant, as you call him, would agree wholeheartedly with that statement. Of course it is the only way, Atticus allows me to come out and say hello. Perhaps when things are calm, I can convince my compu-brat sister to let me use her EGO's holo-emitters to visit a holo room. It was actually nice visiting with all the EGOs.
Speaking of which, I hope Sophie is doing good. She was nice when I last met her. You must be more special. than I gave you credit for, to have atleast Three EGO ladies care about you, like they do. As for Lady and Atticus, yes he is trying to reason with his unborn infant. For his sake, he better hope that kid gets his demeanor from the Irathiant side, or he will be there awhile. As you know personally, we Grid do NOT apreciate being told what to do. But that is not a problem for me, this visit. Your EGO love is fine, and I am not in pain, and you and I are not arguing and yelling so all is good between us. I would actually consider shaking your hand this time, but as you can see, the beautiful blonde Belle with the blue eyes has me shackled. So you may not like me much, but atleast you never shackled me, even if you did turn me into quite the light show. That was actually quite ingenious. Now do not worry. I will not eat anybody. I prefer electricity over flesh, and do not need a new host."
Kakusi looks at Wolfram. "Greetings Wolfram. You do not need to fear me. I will not hurt anybody that Atticus calls friend or ally and as far as I know all on this base are allies, except maybe, the prisoner. Besides I am shackled with some power dampeners designed to my specific frequencies. Since you seem like a decent guy for a fleshling, you may even call me Sazri. Volodja however does not get that priveledge. Atleast not until he learns to tell the diference between Atticus and me."
Kakusi looks back at Volodja. "Do not worry Volodja. I am sure you will learn how to tell the difference soon enough. You do seem to be a very astute being, for a meatbag. Now, I think you better make sure your current scheme to save Lady is ready, whatever that may be. I sense that Atticus is done talking to his child. It seems he is taking a chance to try to get to Lady from inside her head. Then he will be back. One more thing. Can you please wipe Lady's lip or something? She is drooling on me. I know Atticus does not mind it, but I do. It just feels.......weird."
Kakusi then looks back at Belle. "I do hope I answered all your questions sufficiently enough for your taste. You are quite nice company to have. Even if your Volge side does deserve a thrashing for putting us in here."

"I could let you free from your strapping. At least I might consider it. Actually I will do it anyway. As long as I remember, you were free last time and you behaved yourself, so...I don't see any reason to keep you tied up." He released those shackles, holding Kakusi steadily in one place. As a next thing he took out his handkerchief and wiped Lady's lips dry from drool and said to Belle: "Sorry, Tinkerbelle, but I could not act otherwise. Giants decisions are sometimes affected by his emotions, but he sure does know his other inhabitants and if he trusts Kakusi to guard the house, then I don't see any reasons to keep him shackled. Kakusi is the reasonable one, and although we had our differences on our last meeting, we shared the same purpose, so we acted according to that. And he carried Lady with extreme caution as I asked him to do and acted as our middle man when we fed Sandy with energy, so he was invaluable. This time I don't see any sign of fundamental differences about our goals again, so he deserves a little trust from our side." Wolfram looked him like he was a lunatic, so Voldoja had to pull out the boot flask, Atticus gave him and toss it to Wolfram. "Help yourself and calm your nerves, but don't drink all. I might need some after we are finished here. Looks like that we will have a chance to test our plan, but it is not going to be easy thing to do, so I would like to grab that flask with my trembling fingers afterwards and kiss it long and passionately." Volodja thought that with releasing Kakusi he might create more tension in the room, so he tried to calm down nervous looking Wolfram, who hadn't previous experience with Atticus's alter egos with his easy going speech manner. And since Belle was obviously a novice too, he put his hand to her sleeve and held it there just in case. He was at least a rookie, because of his previous experience of teaming up with Kakusi, but he hoped that everything goes well this time again. "I am ready to begin as soon we are allowed to. Our team - Belle, Wolfram, Haele and Brody...I mean Broderick - did great work with modifying this brainwashing device and little program it contains. It would be a shame not to try it now, because chances that we manage to help Lady are quite good. But we still need permission to begin, so we will wait and I will have to save my flask from Wolfram. Deciding from the sound it makes he drank most of my brandy already."

Kakusi glances at Wolfram, then talks to Volodja again. "Thank you for both the drool wipe and the shackle removal. You did not need to remove the shackles since Atticus did not object to Belle putting them on him, however it is appreciated. Although looking at Wolfram, you may need more alcohol soon. Let us hope that our emotionally unstable Giant does mot scare the oldling any more than I do, for the sake of his heart. Although I can do a great impression of a defibrillator if needed."
Kakusi looks at Wolfram and Belle again, then says, "Do not worry. I will stay her in bed, next to the unconscious Lady. So Atticus' body is where he wants and expects it to be upon his return."

When Volodj suggested that Sazri Kakuzi, Atticus' Grid "house guest," be released from the restraining straps Belle had put on for the base's safety, a frown crossed her rose petal lips. She looked at the nurse working nearby monitoring the equipment, and saw the diminutive Dr. Orion hurry by in the hall outside the infirmary patient room. Belle felt she had an obligation to keep such innocents safe, and allowing a Grid to roam free hardly qualified as a safe working environment. She bit her lower lip as she thought about her options, swiping an errant bang of blond hair out of her blue diamond eyes, which promptly fell back out of place. By that time, Volodaja had already acted, releasing the patient from his bonds. "Darn y'all Volo, I was still thinking!" Thought Belle to herself, but knew that often for Volodja to think was to act, and his instincts were usually right on the mark. Furthermore, she trusted Volodja completely, so she held her tongue although she kept on her guard just in case. Besides, she kind of liked Sazri, and the journalist in her was curious about the Grid race. Sazri had already voluntarily given her much more knowledge about the Grids than she felt most people in the Bay Area had, and she was grateful about that, so she smiled demurely as Volo, Wolfram and Sazri conversed, sticking out one pale hand palm up to Wolfram when he took a swig from Volo's flask. Wolfram hesitantly handed it to her, where upon Belle took a long swig of brandy herself, than handed it back to him, wiping her pretty lips with the back of her other hand. "Thank you Dr. Von Eschen!" Belle said sweetly to Wolfram, then turned to Sazri and commented, "I find the Grid culture fascinating, albeit not conducive to other people's good health, we all being cattle and all!" Belle giggled melodically, then continued, "And you are right about the fact that many humans would rather reason than fight or flight, although I wish more felt that way! I'm sorry that some Castithans tortured you that way, but most Votans aren't like that, as you know from Lady! There are way too many stories like yours of inhumanity, even before the Votans arrived, but it doesn't have to be that way! A bit naïve I guess, but I hope that someday all the races can learn to live peacefully together, because if we don't, none of us will ever really thrive and find happiness. I just want to do my small part to bring civilization back to out post-apocalyptic world, and that begins with one person just talking civilly with another, so I've really enjoyed our chat, Sazri! I would like to arrange with Atticus to talk with you some more about our respective cultures sometime, but only if you want to! By-the-way, have the Grid ever thought about lunching on non-sentient species, like POW?" Sazri wondered if the pretty fleshling was engaged in humor again, but could tell from the sincerity in her voice and the glimmer in her wide blue diamond eyes that she really believed in what she had just said. Part of him was amazed that a being could still be such an idealist in this day and age, while another part of him wondered what she would taste like if he consumed her.

Atticus said out loud in the darkness of Lady's EGO, "Did you say sister?! Dak that was confusing. Snow Angel if you can hear me, you need to come back to us! We will never give up! I will NEVER give up!!! Please answer me while I am here! Dak. I guess I better go back. Just hold on longer. I am coming for you!" Sandy, Lady's EGO psyche, appeared in her crisp EMC uniform, looking sympathetically at Atticus with big blue eyes, saying, "Lady's not coming Atticus. I don't think she remembers that she can or how to enter her EGO. She still sees her EGO as a tool, like she viewed it before she met you. And Lady is so tired! She is putting on a brave front, but I think that subconsciously, she knows something important is missing from her life - you - and it is wearing on her. I think we need to put Volodja's plan into action, before she loses so much energy that it won't matter anymore!"

Marcel kept thinking about his plan and became to like i more and moret, but he still lacked one skilled girl with great body and attractive face. And having her was essential part. Lena would been perfect for his needs, but her attitude towards him was not exactly the best kind and there were not any signs of improvement somewhere. Besides she lacked ambition. It was real shame to see such a huge talent going to waste here, when Lena could be so useful to Marcel. Maybe some extra scrip would help to change her mind about cooperating with him, one way or another. At least it was worth to try before he will be released from his cell. As long as Marcel understood, then Lena will get out too as Volodja and Belle promised to her and then she can provide him at least some information, if not more.
That's why he got up from his bunk bed and moved towards the wall, separating their cells, and said: "I have a little plan in mind, how to get my scrip from Varus, but I need one really smart and sexy girl for completing that. Do you know, where can I find one? I am even willing to pay for your advice, which is most unusual."

Volodja laced his long and slim musician fingers together and turned his palms facing out. After that he straightened his arms in front of him and held them about ten seconds. Just a simple exercise, which helped him stretch himself and relax a bit. After repeating that procedure couple of times he said to himself sounding like a small voice:
"Hopefully we get permission to continue. As a Lady's therapist I will have to keep my opinion to myself and wait for your decision, but as her friend I have to say, that Lady needs her memory back. She is not herself any more after that happened. Lady lost really important part of her life and without it she will never be complete personality. And she needs her eye sight back too. She avoided first assassination attempt and defeated Lena. But because of her lost memory and blindness she would not protect herself properly against the second one, if there wasn't one good EGO girl, Moira, who came to warn us. So I hope that we can proceed soon with our treatment. For everybody's sake I really do."
Wolfram passed Volodja's flask back to him at last. Volodja took it and shook it near his ear. Sounds he heard, were telling him that his long and passionate kiss with flask isn't going to happen, but he thought: "Maybe I am lucky enough and have Sandy to kiss me for real tonight. Her lips taste so sweet and her kisses make my head spin, so I don't need anything else when she is with me." After those thoughts he just smiled and waited for Atticus to return.

At the mention of scrip, Lena Marr's ears perked up, so she turned over in her jail cell bunk, and with one fluid movement, swung her shapely legs to the side and sat up. She then stood up moving nonchalantly to the bars next to Marcel, and leaned against the brig's back wall with her arms tightly folded against her ample bosom. Lena smiled brazenly, looking intently at Marcel with sky blue eyes and one white eyebrow raised, asking, "How much script are we talking about?"
