"Considering the situation, I have to reluctantly, very reluctantly, admit, that I prefer to see Jalina under Uljanov family influence than Atlas's. Even that is a better option for the whole universe because no matter how obnoxiously annoying Volodja Uljanov can be, he has some good traits, like usually minding his own business and not interfere to ours. Even more reluctantly I have to admit that after analysing our endeavours I have come to conclusion that every time we see potential business partner from outside the system, they turn out to be perverted, unreasonable, hostile to the end or trying to shape the universe after their ugly faces, so lot of our incomes are coming from those Protectors or thanks due the fact that they turn the blind eye towards our operations. Besides - Uljanov's family influence is something we might question because it is a human influence not an influence of some crazy deity who thinks that there are only two ways - his way and the wrong way. Atlas does not have a slightest idea about reasonable compromises which are part of economy and politics even if the compromise climbs up his leg and bites him from his balls. Protectors are better option for now. Especially if they do not want to change the universe into something where we can not have our business." Compared with Atlas, Marcel Lestrange was the personification of dexterity, flexibility and the firm but diplomatic influence over people. His employees were doing...things because they actually wanted to do those things and as long as it served fulfilling needs of Marcel and his lover - the one and only and most beloved Lena Marr - he was not mind if their methods were not exactly generally accepted. Matter of the free will, you see. Marcel was a die hard fan of the free will as long as that free will flowed in the riverbed which was designed by Marcel Lestrange and followed his discreet direction. Atlas's methods were way too rough, unpolished and lacked finesse by his opinion. Only raw power and not even a sign of fine diplomatic thinking. "Unfortunately we have a situation where my preferences do not have that much influence as they should have," admitted Marcel. "You are an intelligent woman, Honey Pot, so your opinions should always to be taken with the seriousness they deserve to be taken. Atlas is trying to delay us for sure and avoiding getting his hands dirty by doing things himself is a cornerstone of his method of action. This Jalina's inducted but not conducted incident serves his purpose in any case, even if he is not directly behind it. No matter how arrogant that Atlas is, he thinks that we endanger his plans and yet he is quite "shy" to confront us by himself. Why else dedicate so much time to us and send his subjugates against us?" Macelr Lestrange allowed himself another devilish grin before adding: "Stopping Atlas for good is not a business any more, Honey Pot! This is personal, because in addition to threatening our business, Atlas dared to affect our personal life - due his deeds I have not made love to you for ages and that is a punishable crime!"

On the bridge, Lena Marr frowned as she prematurely ended the long French kiss she was engaged in with her lover, Marcel Lestrange, and reluctantly removed her slim hand from his pant's pocket where she had been massaging his manhood to turn and say to Captain Tasha Yar in the Command Chair of the Vigilant as she sashayed to the communications console, "I got this!"
A wicked grin replaced the frown on the Castithan's pretty chalk white face as she remarked belligerently over the comms, "You don't have to walk me through nothing you Indogene idjit! I already fixed life support here on the bridge! If I hadn't, we already would be dead or unconscious and unable to answer you stupid comm call! I just didn't bother to reset the red light indicating on engineering that I had fixed it cause... I was busy, that's all you need to know! So sue me! I got more important things to do then to answer your infantile questions - like get Lexy back on our side! BTW, tell Atty-baby I not only want overtime for this gig but also a big fat scrip bonus for answering unintelligent, ignorant, dense, foolish, dull-witted, slow, simpleminded, vacuous, vapid, idiotic queries from imbeciles!"
Lena's grin grew bigger as she turned off the comm before Snipe could reply. However in the Vigilant's Engineering Wing, Poindexter Snipe was fuming as he yelled, "The nerve of that Bitch! How dare she! Did you hear what she said?!"
I snapped, "Yes I did! However the one who it should piss of would be the one forced to pay her! However I already expected that from her or Marcel! So she will get it and you better hope Lena and Marcel don't hear you say that about her! Now get back to work!"
Snipe indignantly responded with, "Not that! Your economic dilemmas don't matter to anybody but you, you fucking cheapskate! I meant what that....that.....that vampiric whore called me and said about me! I am her better in EVERY way and don't care if some woman or her Master hears it! Besides she is no better than your simple-minded Command officers or that Belle Starr!"
I replied gruffly with, "Perhaps you better tell me what your issue with my Command staff and Belle Starr is, and why Commander Oenfer is upset with you!"
Poindexter Snipe replied with, "They are all idiots and liars! That hot blonde threw herself at me and when I didn't turn down her advances and instead made one of my own, she had the nerve to throw me out of her ship and that stupid grape ape of yours had the nerve to reprimand and demote me just to look like the hero!"
My anger was once again starting to grow as I said harshly, "She would never throw herself at YOU and if she responded harshly then you deserved it! As well as whatever reprimands Commander Oenfer gave you!"
Poindexter Snipe spat out, "The hell I did! She would be lucky to be wanted by me! Any of these hotties would! As for her advances, she is the one who held me tightly to her wonderful bosom as she sat me on her warm and inviting lap in that cramped ship! So she clearly wanted me to touch and grab everything, no matter what she said!"
Hearing Snipe basically admit to trying to rape Belle but spinning it so it looked like she wanted it, my helmet's lenses once again turned a bright white with my anger and I growled, "How dare you! No means no and NOBODY tries to hurt any of my family!"
I then backhanded Snipe hard knocking him across the room and causing him to land near Attila's feet.
As I stalked towards him, Attila stepped in between Snipe and me as Attila said, "Atticus! Commander Batman!!Calm down! It's sounds like it was handled! Otherwise one of them would have told you what he did!"
I growled, "NOT GOOD ENOUGH! SO I WILL HANDLE IT!"
Then I side-stepped Attila and started advancing on Snipe again, extending the hidden blades in my gauntlets as I did. Attila quickly moved to a console and activated Engineering's turrets set to stun and fired them at me. However, as my current armor was retrofitted to channel my Grid-Bio-Electric energies and resist external electrical effects, the tase did nothing. Instead I ignored it and Attila as I once again started advancing on Poindexter Snipe as he got to his feet and ran out of the room.
As I started stalking my terrified prey through the halls of the Vigilant not bothering to run as I broke his nose so there was a noticeable trail of blood to easily follow, Atika knew she needed to contact somebody for help. So she contacted Volodja and Sandy via EGO and decided she better include Doctor Von Eschen in the EGO channel.
So she had her EGO connect her to all three, and once she was contacted to them, Atika urgently said, "Commanders Uljanov! Doctor Von Eschen! You need to do something! Commander Batman and Mr. Snipe got in an argument and Mr. Snipe...well he accidently implied that he tried to do bad things to Miss Starr, and please don't make me say what! No woman likes to say that word! Anyway the Commander already busted his nose, and then chased after him with blades drawn, when Mr. Snipe ran out of Engineering! You gotta do something or the Commander will kill him! Should Til or I go after them, or should we keep working on restoring all of the life-support systems and trying to help Lexy because I thing it is best if we keep working, but will go after the Commander if you want me to! However I think he is more likely to listen to one of you or Doctor Von Eschen, than he is Attila or myself!"

"My fault!" Wolfram Von Eschen said. "If I wasn't such a coward, I would be probably dead but at least I would be dead with with the clear conscious. Unfortunately I didn't wanted to die. At least not that helplessly, laying on the floor with pierced throat. And now my cowardice has made everything worse. Synths have incredibly acute hearing so both Synth Sisters heard Wolfram's exclamation clearly so still cradling Whitney in her arms, Yvette stared daggers at Wolfram muttering, "I'm gonna kill him!" Whitney looked up with frightened eyes the color of blue ice knowing her sister was fully capable of doing the act so after dabbing her tears away with a lace hankie asked, "Please Yvette, help me up and let me handle it. Help me over there." With a frown and a shake of her long blonde hair Yvette reluctantly agreed pulling Whitney to her feet so that they could walk slowly over to Wolfram so that she could put a hand on his shoulder and lie, "I'm a person of science Wolfram and I deal in logic not emotion. I am not even a real person just a synthetic one. This blood on my skirt - it's not even real blood just a lubricant made to look like blood so humans would more readily accept me into their societies. That piece of what you though was flesh you broke with your fingers was merely a piece of ultra-thin plastic created for effect. I'm more machine than woman, so you have nothing to feel bad about." Then Whitney continued with all sincerity, "Don't blame yourself Wolfram for I don't! Atlas is to blame for my forcing you to do... what you did... and I swear by the All-Father the Synth-Sisters will make him pay not for what he did to me but for the cruel games he has played with you and the rest of our friends in the Protectors," Then forcing a smile upon her angelic pale face she concluded, "My existence is not worth your anguish and your attention is better spent on helping your friends than grieving over a damaged machine. You are not a coward and did what any other rational human being would do when faced with death." After waiting briefly for any response from Wolfram, Yvette led a limping Whitney to a far corner of the Vigilant's bridge where they both sat down against the wall whereupon Yvette asked, "Why did you tell him that Whitney - that crap about we synthetics not being real people with no feelings? I know how deeply you felt about your virginity and how much it must have hurt you to lose it to anything but your true love. I know how deeply you feel period." "Yes, but that is not what Wolfram needed to hear," Replied Whitney in a low tone. "Atlas is playing psychological games with the Protectors and they need their calming resident psychologist with nothing on his mind but them. Besides, I didn't lie to him: True love is a concept best left to organics not synthetics. I really am nothing more than a damaged machine with illusions of grandeur. Nothing more, nothing less. Now if you don't mind sister, I will go into self-repair mode." As Whitney's blue eyes fluttered closed and her white tousled head tilted to one side in sleep, Yvette saw a single tear streak down Whitney's pale cheek and thought to herself, "Sister, you are such a liar!" Unbeknownst to the Synth Sisters, Atika Constantine had her EGO connect her to her targeted audience, and once she was contacted to them, Atika urgently said, "Commanders Uljanov! Doctor Von Eschen! You need to do something! Commander Batman and Mr. Snipe got in an argument and Mr. Snipe...well he accidentally implied that he tried to do bad things to Miss Starr, and please don't make me say what! However I think he is more likely to listen to one of you or Doctor Von Eschen, than he is Attila or myself!" "I'm on my way! Life support is at least partially back on throughout the Vigilant, but we still might need a Chief Engineer of Mr. Snipe's capabilities despite his emotional ineptitude," Reported Sandy Uljanov back to Atika through her EGO then turned to Wolfram shouting across the bridge unaware of his personal dilemma, "You coming Doctor? "I want to go to Engineering with you Mother," Jalina Uljanov interjected out loud causing her mother to wonder how Jalina was able to eavesdrop on what was supposed to be a private EGO conversation - especially considering that Jalina didn't have an EGO or comm device of any kind. One who did have an EGO and routinely kibitzed on EGO conversations she was not party too was Lena Marr who wondered how she might turn this new situation to the diabolical duo's advantage. Lena surreptitiously attached a small box from her utility belt under the Vigilant's security console using the ship's security cams to find Atticus in his pursuit of Snipe. Using her EGO to follow him via the ships cams, her little machine copied the security footage so that if Atticus did kill Snipe in cold blood, she would have a video record of it. A wicked grin crossed Lena's pretty chalk white face as she thought to her EGO psyche Hope, "Never hurts to have leverage over one's frenemies." Hope on the other hand wondered how the footage might be used to free Atticus' alter ego Kabule.

Marcel Lestrange understood what his love and life was going to do and devilish grin appeared to his thin lips when he whispered: "As a decent citizen I feel that I should help the law and order. It is my duty and thus I am willing to give some help to our Atticus Batman. My natural modesty does not allow me to appear in shining armour and pull the sword or arrange chase. Far from that. I will be back soon, Honey Pot." Marcel Lestrange kissed Lena on her neck before leaving the bridge unnoticed. Good hunters are able to chase their pray until they catch them. Excellent hunters can predict where their prey appears and arrange an ambush that place. Marcel Lestrange considered himself to be an excellent hunter. The whole situation reminded him a classic battue where beaters chase the pray towards a gentlemen who just had a sip of expensive cognac and stands on the spot with the rifle which costs a small fortune and causes unstoppable drooling of every gun crazy hunting enthusiast. So all he had to do was to figure out where Poindexter Snipe is going to run and wait him there. Marcel Lestrange made couple calculations, based on latest coordinates and movement pattern of Snipe who was still chased by Atticus Batman who followed him as a huge furious locomotive (The only difference between Atticus and the locomotive was the fact that despite their speed and weight and determined direction, locomotives usually do not burst out curses but steam), and then he begun to move as straightforward as a vertical line which cuts through the loops of an S to create a perfect Dollar sign. "Where to hide? Where to hide?" gasped running man, pardon, running Indogene. "Do not worry, mon ami," muttered Marcel Lestrange almost tenderly under his nose when he heard Snipe approaching. "I will take care of that problem for you." "What to do? What to do?" gasped Snipe even louder because he reached closer to Marcel's hideout. "I know exactly what I am going to do, mon ami," muttered Marcel in extremely low tone so nobody than himself could hear him. "Not sure about Monsieur Batman's actions after he catches you. And he catches you for sure so we can find that out," he added after sticking out his strong leg with the snakelike speed and elegance and making Snipe to trip over it. Then he pulled leg back into his hideout and listened Snipe's moans of pain because he fell on his already bleeding nose and injured his kneecap as well. Just like Marcel planned, by the way. Satisfied with the result, Marcel begun his journey back to the bridge, avoiding spotlights and cameras. On the bridge Lena observed how Snipe begun to crawl like a worm because of his kneecap when she felt wet lips on her white neck again and heard an accented whisper: "My duty as a law obeying citizen is fulfilled, Honey Pot. And my modesty did not allowed to stay there and collect laurels for the deed. Besides - watching Monsieur Batman's behaviour when he finds his crawling or at least limping prey might be quite educational. Not to mention the entertaining value his actions might have. And economical if he attacks the cripple. I hope that he does not let down expectations of the audience who did everything possible that the show could go on."

As Sandy Uljanov rushed off the Vigilant's bridge to try to stop Atticus Batman from killing Poindexter Snipe, she transmitted constantly from her EGO to his reasons not to kill Snipe such as, "Think of your position sir! Is this the kind of role model you want to be for your team!" and "Our country was founded on due process! At least give the poor man a trial by jury!" and "Commander Batman! If you kill an unarmed man in cold blood you'll be convicted for murder for sure once we get back to Paradise! What will your wife and children do without you? God forbid, if Lady doesn't come out of her coma, the twins will be orphans! You don't want that, do you?" and other arguments like that. Meanwhile on the bridge, the Synth Sister Yvette left her sisters alone to do as they would. Whitney she left to rest while she left Brooke to do whatever she was doing with the Count - and both quite enjoying from the sound of it - in a dark concealed corner of the bridge. Since she was the only Synth Sister not preoccupied, she saw it as her responsibility to apologize to all the bridge crew for their actions while the Synth Sisters were possessed by Atlas so she went to each and every bridge crew member and personally apologized on behalf of herself, her sisters, and the Synth Empire. If she was a politician like her sister Ruby, many would have been cynical about her apology but since she was just a young girl truly sincere and obviously abashed about the whole situation, most took her apology at face value and forgave her. As Yvette was talking to Captain Tasha Yar sitting on the command chair, Whitney opened one eye verifying that Yvette's back was to her. Then silently using the wall to stand up, Whitney moved to the bridge's and left the bridge. Still in pain, whether physical or mental, she hobbled down the ship's hallways until she got to an inside airlock leading to space. She opened the internal door stepping into the small closet like room that then led to the external hatch that was all that separated her from cold space. The beautiful Synth girl stood at the external door for some time looking with wide blue eyes through its window at the numerous stars and the gleaming purple planet-side of Pluto as she contemplated her future and frankly in her own agony saw none. Whitney's pale hand hovered over the button that would close the internal door of the airlock then open the external door to suck her android body into the cold vastness of space. She knew that all her external sensors would freeze almost immediately so that there would not be any pain per se. Since she was a synthetic and not an organic person, one by one her bodily functions would just gradually turn off last being her positronic brain. Like may teenagers who have suffered a traumatic event, Whitney could not see any reason to exist any longer and felt that no one would suffer with her passing. She remembered back not long ago when she thought Governor Skarr was her true love and that she betrayed everything she believed in to live the lie. She thought about how often her mind was overridden by stronger personalities like Atlas and Skarr and she couldn't see that trend ever ending. Even in the virtual Circus World she had been used as a helpless pawn to endanger her friends and family until in the end she was used as bait to destroy many of the former and all of the latter. There was always a stronger personality than hers just waiting around the corner to dominate, use, then abuse her and she couldn't see any end to that but one. Whitney rationalized that in fact everyone would be better off without her. Like most people contemplating suicide, she couldn't see how her passing could do any harm not thinking about the many people who were her friends and family who would really be hurt just by her passing. Whitney pushed the button to open the airlock with one trembling slim forefinger closing her eyes awaiting her end to occur.

Knock knock knock! Wolframs cane drummed against the glass eye on the air lock. Knock knock knock! Then his bony hand reached out and pushed the button to open the air lock door and let him in. "It is considered to be a tradition that one should always knock," he said to Whitney. "If you wonder what I am doing here then the answer is simple - I was following Frau Uljanov but since I am not in my first youth I couldn't keep the pace with her and had enough time to look around while walking. An old Tortoise can't keep up with the Hare if the Hare doesn't decide to take a nap, you see. That is how I spotted you and even when I know that I am the last person you want to see right now I decided to interfere because I recognize self destructing behaviour when I see it. If you still want to open the other door on the airlock then you can do it. I will be dragged outside along with you but considering the situation it would be fair anyway. Mind if I sit down while I am still talking? Feet are getting tired." Whitney nodded in mute awe and Wolfram lowered himself to the floor, letting out a muffled sigh. He put his cane by his side and explained: "I was actually worried about you. I do recognize lie when I see it and with that lie you disproved your own thesis being a machine. Now you are trying to commit a suicide, also proving that you are not a machine but a sentient being. First we we will return to your well intended lie. It was a noble lie, showing that you are not only able to feel but possess an ability of sympathy towards others. That makes you the better person than lot of us who are made of flesh and blood. Including me." Wolfram von Eschen looked at Whitney and especially her hand which was still on the button. He couldn't tell if her fingers trembled hesitatingly or not but at least the door was still closed so he decided to talk some more. "Now the second part, Whitney. I am afraid that I have to begin with the trivial remark about the suicide. The jumper might realize after stepping over the edge that most of the problems are actually solvable, except the one - how to stop yourself from being smashed against the ground. You, my dear, are on the verge but hasn't stepped over the edge yet so it's possible to discuss the situation and see if we can find a solution. "No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking." as Voltaire said it. So should we try to think first and act later, my dear? Sometimes the solution might step in when you least expect it. Just like I did few moments ago when I entered into this air lock. Not very gallantly, I admit that, but it felt the right thing to do and the legend that Martin Luther said the words "Here I stand. I cannot do otherwise. God help me, Amen!" seems to become true, except that I am not a great reformer like he was, and instead of standing, I have to sit. You don't have to worry about my former task, because saving you from yourself is much much more important task than saving some sexual predator from the justice, no matter how skilled he might be in engineering, and losing you would cause seaful of tears and sorrow instead of relief. Especially when you are not only a good engineer but a lovable person as well."

Like many teenagers who have suffered a traumatic event, Whitney could not see any reason to exist any longer and felt that no one would suffer with her passing.
In Engineering Atika, who was at a terminal working on her Atlas-blocking program to help Lexy, saw an alert pop-up on screen. Seeing it she said to her brother, "Til! Is that supposed to be happening?!"
Attila responded with, "What Tik?"
When he looked at the console she pointed at, Attila responded with, "Frak! No that Airlock is not supposed to be purging and preparing to open!...Double frak! Somebody's in it!"
Seeing that, Attila quickly started accessing the airlock programming, and managed to de-activate it's button to open the external door just as it was pushed. Then he sent an EGO message to Volodja on the Bridge Saying, "Volo! Somebody just tried purging an external airlock! I managed to over-ride it but the person is still in the airlock. It's only a matter of time before they tap the button harder and realize it was disabled and either force it open or try another airlock!...and it appears somebody else is there now!...Tapping into security cameras now so we know who is in the airlock and who arrived at the airlock in time......Oh it's Whitney in the airlock, but why? Adjusting the camera to see who is nearby and it is...Doctor Wolfram Von Eschen. I will leave the airlock's external door button disabled. Looks like Wolfram just entered the airlock as well with Whitney's finger still on the button! What the heck is going on up there and what is the good doctor fraking thinking?! Do you want me to completely shutdown power to that air-lock or fill it with a knockout gas before the Whitney tries to purge the airlock and send them both into space?!"

Satisfied with the result, Marcel begun his journey back to the bridge, avoiding spotlights and cameras.
As Sandy Uljanov rushed off the Vigilant's bridge to try to stop Atticus Batman from killing Poindexter Snipe, she transmitted constantly from her EGO to his reasons not to kill Snipe such as, "Think of your position sir! Is this the kind of role model you want to be for your team!"
As I continued following the panicked snipe's blood trail I heard Sandy's EGO remarks and I snapped over the EGO channel, "Really?! I am NO hero or daking role-model!"
So Sandy tried, "Our country was founded on due process! At least give the poor man a trial by jury!"
I responded with, "Really?! You're defending a man that already admitted to trying to rape your niece?! Besides I lost a sister already! My stupid 'brother' did to Hope exactly what Snipe was trying to do to Belle, and since I can not kill Kafool, he is now locked away in darkness forever! Then this scum tries that on my adoptive sister?! I may not be able to kill Kabule for what Hope says he did, but I CAN kill Snipe before he tries that on Belle or anybody else again!
Besides in case you haven't looked out a daking window, we are NOT in your country or any country! We are in uncontrolled space in orbit around an unclaimed planet!...Or is Pluto a daking asteroid again?! Either way we are far from any country's daking jurisdictions and on a private spacecraft! So with no Galactic rule why the daking hell shouldn't he daking die at my hands in the name of justice now, and save the time and trouble of a pointless trial?!""
When I rounded the next corner, I saw Poindexter further down the hall now crawling on his feet for some reason as Sandy countered with, "Commander Batman! If you kill an unarmed man in cold blood you'll be convicted for murder for sure once we get back to Paradise! What will your wife and children do without you? God forbid, if Lady doesn't come out of her coma, the twins will be orphans! You don't want that, do you?" and other arguments like that.
I stopped in my tracks upon hearing Sandy's latest argument against me dispensing fatal justice to Snipe, and as I watched my prey still trying to frantically crawl away as I started to slowly and silently close the distance between us, I responded to Sandy over the EGO channel with, "I was an orphan! MY children will NOT be. So we WILL get Lady back! However....I suppose Lady wouldn't want me to kill him and risk being lost to my family because of scum either...so fine! I will NOT kill him! Although as I recall in some Earth countries rapists are castrated, and other countries would flog, whip or stone them! I see the snake crawling across the floor not far from here, perhaps I will decide which of those methods I prefer by the time I reach him!"
As I finally walked up to Snipe, he had already defecated allover himself and was now sitting against a wall holding his bloody nose and busted knee as he started pleading for his life, mostly trying to remind me repeatedly of how I needed him as he was the best engineer to ever exist.
As I knelt beside him, ignoring his pleas for the moment, I moved a blade to his leg and sliced open his pant leg. Seeing how swollen his knee was and once again looking at his bloodied face seeing how much I already fucked him up by busting his nose, his lips and swelling one of his eyes shut, I retracted my blades. Then I leant in really close and whispered, "Death sends his regards and wants you to know it is not yet your time to die...but to suffer further."
As Snipe's one non-swollen eye bulged in fear and he wet himself again, I chuckled hollowly. Then I reach up and placing my gauntleted fingers around his busted nose, and squeezing it a little harder than needed, I yanked and twisted his nose until it popped back into place as he screamed in place.
Then I said calmly out-loud, "There your nose is in place, so it will be easier for a doc to fix. Now let's just adjust your leg."
As I grabbed his leg, I heard boots coming down the hall. A quick glance revealed it was the Uljanov women. Turning my attention back to Snipe, I yanked and twisted his leg, again more forcibly than needed, with him screaming in pain the whole time I did so. Once the busted bones were again aligned, and as Sandy reached us, I stood and said to Sandy, "His bones are aligned so it is easier for a doctor to fix and in case you are wondering, I did NOT bust his knee. Nor was his face that bloodied when he left me in Engineering, and I promise I did nothing but re-align his busted bones when I caught up to him. Now get this piece of crap out of my sight. Lock him away in the brig and keep him out of my sight until you or Lebeau can hand him over to Cooper. Then this sniveling rape-snake can get his daking trial, provided Coop doesn't just let him go!"
Then I turned and stalked my way back towards Engineering. When I got there, I said, "Attila were Engineering's cameras and mics recording when Snipe was in here?"
Attila responded with, "Yes sir and it looks like somebody had the cameras follow his and your path through the corridors."
I responded with, "Fine. I'll just save the footage while you are busy getting everything here working again, just in case we need that footage later."
As promised I didn't further hurt Poindexter Snipe. However I never said I wouldn't do something to further his pain and suffering some more. So with that thought in mind, I walked over to a computer. Then upon bringing up the footage, and as it was saving, I re-watched the footage, secretly having my EGO record it as I did. That way once the bastard was off my ship and out of our custody, I could send the footage to a specific somebody that would further his suffering at a later time.

"What the Schatko" Muttered Lena Marr on the Vigilant's bridge as she monitored the Vigilant's surveillance cameras then thought to herself, "What the Hell is Whitney playing at?!?! Wellll... not on my watch! I got plans for that girl! I'll just jam that old door from he - Double Hell! Ohhh... now Wolfram is there so that should buy me ti - Ohhhh, looks like someone beat me to the punch in Engineering. I'll just reroute the wiring the door from here so it definitely will not open and keep one eye on her and one eye on Atticus sooooo... who knew being a security officer was so hard! I'm starting to feel sorry for all those security creeps when I was breaking and entering! Only starting though..." In the airlock, Whitney turned with wide ice blue eyes at Wolfram Von Eschen upon hearing his voice surprised that a man that old could move so quietly. Her slim pale hand still on the button that would open the airlock's external door, her cold vacant eyes were then downcast as he spoke. She nodded her white tousled head soberly to agree to his sitting down on the floor as he continued speaking. She then noticed that his rheumy eyes were staring at her slim pale forefinger on the button and guiltily removed it in reaction before sitting on the floor opposite him as she listened although her eyes still refused to meet his. Wolfram continued in a grandfatherly tone, " ...You, my dear, are on the verge but hasn't stepped over the edge yet so it's possible to discuss the situation and see if we can find a solution. Especially when you are not only a good engineer but a lovable person as well." Whitney replied with a smile painted on her Angelic porcelain doll-like face, "Didn't Voltaire also write for Pangloss in Candide to say several times that it was the best of all possible worlds when it was obviously not," Then remarked looking sad once more, "Doctor, I am not worth your time when they're are so many here who are. I have been the source of the Protectors' problems both in the real world and the virtual Circus World many times. I continue to be led astray by so many strong masculine personalities that it would be funny if it wasn't my own life. I'm even beginning to wonder if I wasn't born that way with the All-Father being the first of the many men whose orders I seem to just follow without question, except my batch sisters are so strong and independent - especially when compared with me!. I really am just an automaton, more machine than person - and a damaged one at that!" Whitney's eyes suddenly looked fierce as she looked straight at him and blurted angrily, "All I wanted to do was to love someone and have that one truly love me! Is that so much to ask? It must be because I keep making the same mistake over and over giving my heart to the wrong man although I always kept my virginity... but... now that's gone too - not that the fault was your's Doctor, I forced you to do it while Atlas was in control of me! Still, it was MY fault! I wasn't strong enough to resist Skarr - and I was certainly not strong enough to resist Atlas so the fault lies in me!" Whitney's head began to nod up and down with each heartfelt sob before she managed to finally say glumly, "Everyone would be better off if you had just let me go out this airlock alone..."

"Monsieur Batman showed some unexpected traits," concluded Marcel Lestrange from what he witnessed. "Quite a disappointment he turned out to be by letting that fuckface off that easily. Really really disappointing. Expect that lecture about punishments which are used for rapists. I could say that the case is closed, but I did not like some remarks about Mister Snipe and his activities, I happened to hear earlier. I believe that the bill for his previous pleasures still needs to be paid. I also believe that it is my duty to go and help to carry him into the custody because the journey needs the touch of the master to be complete."
He whispered something into Lena's white ear which made her to grin wickedly and after another deep, through and passionate French kiss, Marcel went to meet the rest of Uljanov family and offer his humble and selfless help on transporting.
Sandy looked at him in suspecting manner and decided that it was probably another way to pull more money out from Protectors pocket and asked with ill hidden irony: "I guess that you expect to be paid for your so called "gallant" move, Marcel."
"Madame Uljanov. I will get paid indeed but you do not have to worry about that detail." And he measured Poindexter Snipe with his steely eyes before throwing him over his broad shoulder.
"Be gentle, you stupid ox!" shouted Snipe.
Sandy couldn't suppress amused chuckle when Marcel - the testosterone filled bull - was called an ox. Marcel's face remained unemotional and so did his eyes. He kept carrying whining and complaining Snipe towards the medical bay first so they could tend and mend his injuries there. When they reached there, Marcel looked around and his eyes registered variety of different objects including a medical table, little closet and a small backpacking stove on it where medics were making coffee at moment. Water in the kettle was hot and steamy. From all possible beds and places to shove Snipe, Marcel "accidentally" happened to choose the one next to the kettle.
Marcel tossed Snipe to the table making him squeak and turned abruptly towards Sandy so his elbow "accidentally" pushed the kettle off and hot water flooded the spot where Snipe's body forked in two. Just like Marcel was planning. If there had not been any hot water then the "accident" would have happened with medical spirit and one of Marcel's lit cigarettes. Or with the help of something else because properly equipped medical bays offer lot of opportunities for a resourceful man with a plan to avenge something that happened to his beloved partner. This time it was the hot water though.
"Oops!" said Marcel when Snipe begun to howl after his family jewels were decently "washed" in extremely hot water. "How clumsy of me. I call everyone here to witness that it was an accident what happened to the rapist here! I also believe that boiled eggs will not be the favourite food of Mister Snipe for some time."

While I was still 'helping out' in Engineering, I said to Atika, "How is it going?!"
She responded with, "I have my program ready to upload to Lexy to try. However it requires that we do so directly from her main AI core and I can't get into her inner sanctum! None of these engineers can seem to crack through the locking Protocols that Lexy put in place, and that includes Til! He is an inventor and technical engineer and I am a linguist! We are not locksmiths!"
I grumbled and said, Fine! Let me look!"
Upon examining the locks, I was able to hack into the outermost door and open it. However upon entering and walking to the door into Lexy's inner-sanctum where the main AI core is located, I tried my hand at those locking protocols and got through all but 3. The last three being a lot more technically challenging than I had any actual experience with.
So as I left the small corridor and went back to main engineering I contacted Lena via EGO and said, "Lena. I was able to crack most of Lexy's locking protocols but the last three are a design I have never encountered before. So I think you better come to the AI room and take a look. If we can get to Lexy's main AI core in her inner sanctum, Atika has a program she has been working on that she hopes will lock Atlas out of Lexy's systems and return her control to her."
Once done with my EGO message, I said to Atika, "I couldn't get the inner door open. So Lena is on her way to see what she can do. In the meantime, how are external communications going?"
Atika responded with, "No. However Lexy is only able to keep us locked out of the Vigilant's systems but not any of the shuttles. Looking through the Hangars it seems the only vessel that was ejected was the Dauntless Adventure. So if you can get into one of the other hangar bays to access one of the other shuttles, then you can use their comms to contact the Dauntless Adventure."
I nodded and quickly left Engineering. When I got to the nearest Hangar, Lexy was trying to keep me out. However I was very familiar with all the standard locking protocols that the Hangar's doors were capable of. So it wasn't long before I bypassed them and got the door open. As I entered the Hangar's external doors started to open, but Attila was obviously monitoring the Hangars from Engineering just in case Lexy tried the same thing she did with the Dauntless Adventure. So shortly after I activated my boots' anti-grav locks to keep from getting pulled into space, the doors stopped opening further. As I watched them closely I worked my way to the Hangar's ship-lock controls and was able to get past Lexy's security there and reactivated the locking clamps to hold the shuttles in this hangar in place.
Once they clamped tightly and I was sure my new protocols prevented Lexy from releasing them again, I entered the nearest shuttle and activated it's comms. Once they were on I contacted Kaj for a sit-rep. After he filled me in, I replied with, "Good to hear, all is well so far. Since you are stuck with nothing to do for now, I have a simple task that I think even your two-man crew can do. There is a comm buoy that I need you to pick up. That way once you can re-enter the Vigilant's Hangar, we will be able to access it's message."
As I was communicating with the Dauntless Adventure I was closely watching that still-open hangar door through the shuttle's window and also keeping an eye on the locking clamps. So I was relieved when the external Hangar doors finally re-closed. Once Kaj responded that they would pick it up, I disconnected again.
As I did so, I got an EGO message from Attila saying, "Sorry sir. I was able to keep the doors from opening the whole way, but it took a little while to get past Lexy as she kept fighting every one of my work-arounds. However thanks to a little help from Atika and a couple other Engineers, I was able to get the door re-closed. I know you said you already asked Lena to come help. However can I also contact Whitney? I have seen her at work, and think she will be as useful down here as Lena."
I responded with, "If you think that highly of her skills, then go ahead. The sooner we can get Lexy back and resume our mission the better! I am done here and on my way back to Engineering as well!"
As I headed to Engineering, Attila looked at the security cams again and seeing Wolfram still with Whitney, he contacted Wolfram via EGO saying, "Wolfram this is Attila. Can you please tell Whitney that we require her expertise with AIs and advanced electronics in Main Engineering?"

Post by Kaj Oenfer on Mar 20, 2018 13:00:52 GMT
From a shuttle in the Vigilant's Hangar, Atticus contacted Kaj for a sit-rep. Kaj replied with, "All is clear out here at the moment Sir. We have registered ships in the distance but none have gotten any where near Pluto's orbit yet. Medic Jameson reports that although Lady is still not conscious, her state currently remains as stable as it was before we were forced to leave the Vigilant. Joy also reported that she loves some of the medical tech she has discovered on-board."
Atticus replied with, "Good to hear, all is well so far. Since you are stuck with nothing to do for now, I have a simple task that I think even your two-man crew can do. There is a comm buoy that I need you to pick up. That way once you can re-enter the Vigilant's Hangar, we will be able to access it's message."
Kaj responded with, "That sounds like a good plan Atticus. DO not worry. Poe is doing quite well with the piloting. So we will play delivery boys and pick up the comm buoy for you."
Once Kaj had given his response, Aticcus disconnected the communication. So Kaj filled Poe in saying, "Poe we have to pick up that comm Buoy. How close can you get us?"
Poe responded with, "Not close enough. We do have that one-man scouting craft onboard. The problem is that it is not big enough to carry the Buoy in it and I didn't see any sort of tow hook on it. So I can't use it to tow the buoy into the Hangar. However the Garilu does have basic space thrusters and can act as a shuttle when needed. Plus it is big enough for me to put the buoy in it. So the Garilu is the best choice. However it might take some tricky maneuvering, like I did back in the military. So permission for me to be the one to retrieve it, while you pilot the Dauntless Adventure?"
Kaj gave Poe the go-ahead. So poe quickly returned to the Garilu, and after getting clearance from Kaj, he maneuvered it out of the Dauntless Adventure. Before long, he had arrived at the buoy without an issue. So he grabbed his helmet and put it on, as he set the Garilu to hover in position. Then Poe Dameron went back to the cargo hold and after making sure everything was securely locked down, he grabbed a tow cable and attached it to the small winch onboard. THen after making sure his helmet was locked in place and his suit had enough oxygen, Poe opened the hanger door.
As he was pulled into space he kept tight hold of the tow cable. As he started to drift past the buoy, Poe was able to grab onto it. Then he secured the cable to it. Once he had it secured, he started working his way the short distance through space back to the Garilu, making sure to keep a firm hold of the cable the whole time. However there was a tiny snag, for as he was pulling himself across the cable and back towards the Garilu, a lone Atlans drone flew towards him. As it got closer, it started buzzing Poe forcing him to halt his progress and hold tight to the cable. Fortunately Kaj aboard the Dauntless Adventure saw what was happening and targeted the drone with the Dauntless Adventure's laser rifles. It blew up the drone, but unfortunately for Poe, the close proximity forced him to release the cable and start to drift away.
However being an experienced fighter pilot, Poe kept his calm as he tried to figure out what to do. In seconds he remembered a scene he had seen in a movie that had recently been played back on base where the main protagonist was in a similar situation. That person managed to put a small rupture in his suit's glove and use the releasing air pressure to force him to his rescuers' waiting arms. Poe thought he could do the same, but how was he going to rupture his glove?
Just then some small meteorites pelted his helmet and Poe released luck was still on his side, as this was something he could use. So he held his hand up palm out in the direction the meteorites were coming from. Before long several struck and ruptured his glove from the force in which they were travelling. Although his hand now hurt terribly from the small rocks entering the rupture and embedding themselves in his hand, Poe closed his hand into a fist. Then he maneuvered himself around, so his back was to the Garilu's still open hangar.
Once he was in position. he held out his hand and opened it. Sure enough the rushing air was forcing him back with him using his free hand to grab his 'rocket' hand to keep it stable. Poe just prayed there was enough air and momentum to get him close enough to the Garilu or it's cable to pull himself back on board.
He needn't have worried, for before long he felt his back hit hard into something. As he opened his eyes after the sudden pain had dulled some, he discovered he was in the Garilu's cargo hold. Slowly getting up and ignoring the pain, he worked himself to the winch and activated it. Once it had pulle the buoy inside, Poe closed the Cargo door. Then he got back into the Garilu's cockpit and requested re-entry to the Dauntless Adventure. After it was granted, he docked in the Dauntless Adventure and reported back to Kaj over comms saying, "Sir, the Garilu and buoy are both back onboard. However I was injured and my suit is bloody. So I am stopping by the infirmary to see Joy before I return to the Bridge.
Kaj agreed, so Poe went to see Joy. Once in the infirmary, she had him strip down to his skivvies so she could check thoroughly for injuries. Fortunately the trip only left him bruised and battered, but nothing broken. The only real injuries were to his hand. However once she extracted all the meteorites from it, she was able to sew it up and bandage it. Once done, Poe put his bloody suit back on and returned to the Dauntless Adventure's Bridge. As he did so, he examined the helmet in his hand. Seeing the cracks the meteorites caused to the face shield of his helmet, he was thankful that he was able to get out of that almost invisible meteorite shower before those razor sharp rocks busted through his helmet.

Post by Sandy Bell on Mar 21, 2018 3:19:02 GMT
"Oops!" said Marcel Lestrange when Poindexter Snipe begun to howl after his family jewels were decently "washed" in extremely hot water. "How clumsy of me. I call everyone here to witness that it was an accident what happened to the rapist here! I also believe that boiled eggs will not be the favorite food of Mister Snipe for some time."
"What part of no punishment without due process did you all not understand?" Yelled Sandy Uljanov to Marcel Lestrange then hit the comm in the room, "Dr Quinn, please come to my location at once! We have a patient that needs your immediate help."
Sandy noticed Jalina Uljanov standing by the room's doorway looking in with wide magenta eyes so she ordered her daughter knowing she was too late in doing so, "Jalina, you're too young to be seeing this. Go back to the bridge or go to the mess hall and get something to eat, but you don't need to be here."
With a look of fear on her chalk white face, Jalina queried in a trembling voice, "Why is my godfather being so cruel?"
Sandy's blue eyes grew wide in surprise as she muttered, "Godfather?" The commanded Jalina forcefully, "Go now! We'll discuss this later I promise!"
The teenager quickly disappeared from the doorway just as Dr. Micha Quinn pushed her way in and ordered once she saw Snipe cringing in pain, "What the - ? Okay, all of you out of here and leave me alone with my patient - NOW!"
Sandy exited angrily into the hallway just missing being hit by the door as Micha closed it behind her but too late to see where her daughter went so Sandy leaned against a wall using her private EGO channel with her husband to scold him instinctively knowing that he must have made some deal with Marcel, "Volodja, how is it that monster Marcel is our daughter's godfather and does that also mean that nutcase Lena is her godmother?"
On the Vigilant's Bridge, Lena Marr as always was monitoring EGO communications even if they were private and exclaimed telepathically to Sandy, Volodja, and even Marcel, "Pooh Bear is NOT a monster you blonde bitch and Jalina is lucky to have us as godparents! She would really, really do better with us than you two!"
A grim frown crossed Sandy's pretty tan face as she retorted to Lena via their EGOs, "Better a protective bitch than a chaotic bimbo!"
Before the verbal catfight became even more inflammatory, Commmander Atticus Batman contacted Lena via EGO and said, "Lena.
With a wicked grin, Lena telepathically threatened Sandy, "This ain't over Blondie - not by a long shot!" Before answering Atticus, "Okay, okay, a women's work is never done! At least this woman's work anyway! Atty-baby, I hope it's worth all the script you'll be owing me because you just interrupted a very, very important family dispute!"
Lena hurried off the bridge to where the ship's AI chamber was located, walking through the outermost door and impatiently ushering Atticus out saying, I need room to work Boss-man."
Examining the inner door carefully and begrudgingly admiring Atticus' work so far in getting through the locks, although she would never admit it, Lena took out a small metal box from her utility belt and attached it to the inner door. Lena then promptly began work getting through the last three locking protocols getting through the first two fairly easily. Lena thought she had the third and last one figured out as well when suddenly dozens of red lasers from both the floor and the roof of the chambers cut diagonally into her body. Castithan blood began to spew from dozens of perfectly round wounds all over her body. None of the wounds were fatal or even permanently maiming, but the sudden loss of so much blood so quickly made her crumple unconscious to the floor like a rag doll, a look of disbelief on her chalk white face as her light blue eyes fluttered shut.
With eyes burning bright red, a hologram of Lexy the ship's small child AI appeared over Lena's body wagging her small forefinger at her saying with a chilling smile, "God will get you for that Walter."

Post by Volodja Uljanov on Mar 21, 2018 5:57:07 GMT
Volodja Uljanov frowned before telling: "Lena. I would appreciate if you avoid calling my wife a bitch. Sandy. I know that you are a mature woman to cancel the verbal fight. Thank you for interference, Atticus. I would like to remind that the porridge should not be eaten as hot as it was made. I will lead an investigation on the topic right away and then I will tell what is my opinion about the situation. I promise to be as objective as possible. Sophie, dear. I need a favour."
After some heavy traffic on EGO channels and some meticulous thinking Volodja connected with Sandy and said with concerned voice:
"I am afraid that the birth distress might be worse than I expected and caused some memory lapses. I remember telling you that I asked Marcel to be the Godfather because asking him was the only way to make him to return to the poker table so he could end the game and thus save Attila's life. You also warned me about Lena's part as Jalina's Godmother as well but we lacked options at moment. If you want to blame someone then I am guilty as charged and at your mercy."
Volodja run information through his head before continuing and after arranging his thoughts he continued: "As an investigator I have to tell that Marcel managed to disguise his deed quite well. Officially it is has to be recorded as an accident because Marcel doesn't have a provable motive and his actions look unintentional so due to the lack of evidence we cant rise charges against him. And if we do then...
That leads us to another side of the case. The victim - one Poindexter Snipe - is going to be charged at least for an sexual assault against Belle Starr. Officially. But unofficially Belle is not the only victim of Snipe. Sophie found out that Snipe was a customer of certain orphanage in Lima and abused infant Lena Marr back then and probably other children there as well. We know how protective Marcel is about Lena, so I assume that Marcel's hidden motive was an avenge for Snipe's victims. Or at least one victim.
Marcel might represent everything socially unacceptable by pre war standards but I have to add few lines for his defence. Marcel has proven that he does not harm innocents from the beginning by cancelling his contract to kill Lady Christianna. Since then every Protector he killed has been a rotten apple, so objectively he has been acting as an auditor and fired or at least fired at everyone who doesn't meet certain moral standards of ours.
Subjectively said - I prefer to see Marcel on my side as a parent. As a parent I also can not blame Marcel for disabling sexual predator for good, because due to his deed the world is a bit safer place now. Especially after contacting with medics and finding out that the only way to save Snipe's life will be an...ehem...amputation of certain suffered body parts. Plus, I am afraid that after dragging him in front of the Judge, Marcel might become a public hero if he openly declares in the courtroom: "I did what I did for Maria" To be more precise, I should replace Maria with Lena and change few other lines, but that doesn't change the result - the public would be on Marcel's side."

Post by Wolfram von Eschen on Mar 21, 2018 9:27:48 GMT
Wolfram von Eschen eyed the desperate girl in front of him. He felt that he should say something else to that sobbing creature who was so damn sure that she wasn't wanted or needed, but he wasn't sure what he should say. That is why he begun to improvise which was sort of out of his character activity because he was used to clarify everything for himself first. But there are exceptions and the fate of this girl was worth of the effort:
"The fact that I am here already shows that everyone would NOT be better off if I had just let me go out this airlock alone. Quite opposite - everything would be much worse if you would been making that final step. You mentioned your sisters. They would be devastated, I would be devastated, the rest of our friend would be devastated. I was reminded that we need your Engineering skill as well but I believe that the most important part at moment is you and your well being, because we need you more than an Engineer. That brings us back to the machinery issue.
Machines don't have sisters, except ships. Ships are usually called "she" by seamen who treat them like they were living beings, because true spend most of the time on their ships and know their moods and everything else. I know that I am not very original by making that comparison which someone among Protectors used before me, but that doesn't make it less true. And comparing yourself with your sisters...If you are not like them, then it is not a weakness but a trait which makes you one of a kind girl - trusting and sweet kind. It's not your fault that you have met only powerful men who treat everyone as their tools. You didn't had much choice of picking the environment and acquittances. It takes two to waltz and they had a choice to treat you in a way you truly deserve. If they didn't, then it's their own fault that they lost you by mistreating you. That actually shows how pointless those men were. Except Herr Batman, because he is deeply in love with his wife and he also loves his family and there is only that much room in his heart, so it would be unfair to blame him. Damn, I need a drink. Mouth is getting dry."
Wolfram took a sip from his "medicine" bottle and didn't put it away because he was sure that he needs a sip or two more. Then he continued:
"Everything proves that you are a real girl not a machine. You posses a heart and you possess a soul. And you have feelings in your heart. And that makes you a human. Doesn't matter if that human is organic or synthetic, you and your sisters still are human beings. In the long row of humans I know, you are one of the best with your sweetness and innocence. I even admire your naivety because it is treasure in these cynical days. Risking to be a dirty old man from now on, I have to say that if I would have been your choice to be your first by your own choice, not someone's else's, then I would have been proud of being the one who was chosen to be worthy of having that once of the lifetime experience with you. I am terribly sorry for ruining everything for you. It's not your fault but mine. If I only had been stronger it wouldn't have happened, so you don't have to blame yourself but me."
