As Attila and the Synth sisters, Brooke and Yvette, continued running away from the sabotaged artillery as quickly as they could Attila had sent an EGO message to Lena over the team chat channel, requesting immediate pickup. Soon after, Lena had veered the jeep so it would take her and Marcel on course that would be parallel to their running teammates.
As Lena slowed down slightly, as she past them, Lena shouted to her teammates, "Going our way?!"
Yvette and Brooke both jumped into the jeep easily, thanks to their synthetic physiology. Right after they jumped into the back of the jeep, both girls turned back and offered an outstretched hand to Attila. As Attila jumped and grabbed the offered hands, the Anti-air artillery exploded. It was fortunate that Attila's calculations were correct because, they were out of the blast radius. However Attila had forgotten to take the ensuing shrapnel into account. A miscalculation that he would soon realize, because as he jumped, he felt something hit him in the left shoulder and propel him faster into the offered hands.
The synth sisters easily pulled him into the jeep as soon as he had taken their hands. So as soon as Marcel, who was sitting in the backseat of the jeep, saw the sisters behind him pull Attila into the jeep, he told Lena to step on it. Then Attila sent the order to the Eagle, to air-bomb the tower. As Lena continued in the direction she had been given, and Marcel and the others shot at their pursuers, the Eagle fired a barrage of photon torpedoes at the tower. It was obviously a direct hit, for the tower crumpled and fell onto any still near it.
Not long after that, several of the pursuing vehicles came to a sudden stop as their inhabitants grabbed their heads in pain, obviously regaining control of themselves now that the control tower in this area of the city had been destroyed. When they were back where Lena and Marcel had left Attila, and the Synth sisters had parked their jeep, they all fired at the one or two remaining jeeps and destroyed one, while Marcel hit his mark perfectly and put a bullet hole in the head of the driver in the remaining jeep causing it to veer to the side and crash into a building. Now that they had stopped and were no longer currently being pursued, Attila told the Synth girls to get in their jeep and follow his team back to the Palace where they were all to report back to Erika.
However as Attila moved forward into the backseat of his team's jeep, next to Marcel, Brooke noticed some blood on his left shoulder; as well as some shrapnel stuck in the back of his armor, and pointed it out. Yvette looked to where Brooke pointed, and fortunately Attila's Volge Engineering armor had managed to stop most of the shrapnel, but a small piece had manage to slip just inside the edge of the left armhole and hit him in the shoulder as it had been turned slightly upward when he had jumped toward the jeep. As Brooke located a small first-aid kit in one of the jeeps, Yvette removed Attila's Armor.
Marcel being the experienced man that he was, knew exactly what to do. So he got out of the jeep and pulled out his knife, as he motioned for Yvette and Attila to follow him. Then he walked to the front of the jeep and opened the hood, with Attila and Yvette right behind, as Lena watched with a good idea of what her lover and partner was up to. Once Marcel had the hood open, he pressed the blade of his knife against the still-hot engine. As Marcel's knife was being heated, he told Yvette to securely hold Attila against the jeep, and told Attila to brace himself for what was coming. Then as soon as Yvette had Attila pinned to the jeep right next to Marcel, Marcel removed Attila's hunting blade and used it to remove the shrapnel from the young man's shoulder.
Once it had been removed, he made sure Yvette knew to keep holding Attila in place. Then Marcel re-holstered Attila's now bloody knife, and retrieved his own blade from the jeep's engine block. At that point, Brooke came over with the small first-aid kit. Satisfied that the blade was hot enough for what was to come next, Marcel opened the kit and removed some thick bandages and stuck them into Attila's mouth, telling the young man to clamp down on them. Then Marcel took his red-hot blade and pressed it hard against Attila's bloody shoulder and successfully cauterizing the wound. Once that was done, Brooke lightly bandaged the now-cauterized wound. Then she and Yvette helped him back into the backseat of Lena's jeep, where Yvette also helped Attila get his armor back on.
Once all of that was done, The Sisters got into their jeep, with Marcel closing the hood and getting back into the jeep with Lena and Attila. Then both jeeps headed out, back towards the Chancellor's Palace. As they drove to their destination, Attila sent Erika a quick message saying, "The anti-air artillery is down. The Eagle destroyed the tower. So on our way back to the Palace."
Meanwhile back on the Vigilant's Bridge, they received a message from the Eagle informing them that the tower was down, and they were heading back, as they needed to refuel and re-arm. Atticus told Tasha Yar to give the Eagle the green-light to return to the Vigilant. Then he contacted his wife, Lady, who was in the shuttle, Hydra, in the Vigilant's hangar awaiting orders. Atticus said, "Snow Angel, the Eagle must return to the Vigilant. So the Hydra has a green-light to depart for the Chancellor's Palace on your medical aid mission." Once that message was sent, he asked Atika if she was able to locate the main source for Skarr's control signal now that all the support towers were down. Atika responded with, "I have pinpointed it's location to a secure building on the Palace grounds.... Actually looking at the diagrams we have of the palace, it looks like the bunker is a fairly new addition and it was built against the back-wall of the Palace's main banquet hall." Atticus told her to send the location to Erika. Then he contacted his sister saying, "Sister Dear, we have pinpointed the location of Skarr's main control-signal. It is in a fairly new but secure looking bunker built next to the back wall of the Palace's main banquet hall, obviously so it was still close to Skarr. You need to find a way past whatever type of lock Skarr has on the door and get in there so Lena and Attila can take it permanently offline. However knowing Skarr, that system probably has some sort of passcode or pass-lock-system that they will also have to find a way around, to shut Skarr's Synth-control system down."

Marcel spent most of the operation in silence. His steely eyes stroke Lena from time to time and every time he grinned as a sign of admiration. Soon enough he could not dedicate his whole attention to the woman he loved because there was a swarm of robots and Synths to take care of. Marcel considered wiping them off to be an axe work because it did not demand any kind of finesse. All you had to do was to point an SMG barrel towards them and pull the trigger. In a huge concentrated swarm where targets are tightly together someone will get hit for sure. Even a beginner could score in that drive by and Marcel was not a beginner.
Someone created bots and Synths and Marcel Lestrange made them equal when he was spraying them with bullets from his SMG. He had no preferences. As long as they were hostile, they will get shot. Marcel was far from being a penny pincher. But at certain points he became a bullet pincher for sure. Not wasting ammo was matter of professional pride for him unless he decided to play with his targets and give them a good scare. This was not the occasion though.
After awhile things became more...interesting when they had to pick up the rest of their team and he found himself facing a shrapnel wound. His sharp mind created a linkage between a sharp blade and the bullet hole and after dragging his somewhat reluctant patient towards the jeep's engine section and disinfecting his improvised scalpel in the heat of the engine, he performed a field surgery by removing shrapnel from Attila's shoulder. Without anaesthesia, by the way, because Marcel somehow felt that using an adjustable wrench on his patient might not be very popular. After successful operation he took out his cigarette pack, tossed one of his French cigarettes between his thin lips and lit it. Then he spent some time overhearing some conversations and after reaching to decision...contacted Volodja Uljanov:
"While you were doing absolutely nothing useful, I did couple of deeds. Now you can make yourself useful at least once and provide me with one of your senseless ideas which seem to work despite how stupid they are. The situation is..."
Volodja listened what Marcel had to say, excluding some colourful adjectives Marcel used to describe him, and responded through the same communication channel:
"I suspected that Skarr has a central control device at his disposal. I also reached to the conclusion that it is not inside his spider body because system continued working after you took old Skarr out. Now you are telling me that it might be behind some complicated locks and you might need an alternative way in if lock picking turns out to be time consuming."
"Brilliant!" said Marcel sarcastically. "You are not as dumb as you look like. Do you have any alternatives to offer?"
"Actually I do. If you need a way around the door, then I suggest to think about the good old ventilation system. They need to breathe in that bunker. At least Skarr depended on air. Vents and pipes are probably quite tight because Skarr could not afford letting even medium sized people into them, so you need someone extra small for the task. Not only a small but smart as well so they could navigate through the vent system, reach into the bunker and open the door from inside. A Liberata or a petite and thin Castithan girl are first choices to come into my mind, because Liberatas are barely above humans in Skarr's hierarchy and ordinary Castithan girls won't spend their days by sneaking in ventilation systems, so they might have been outside Skarr's thinking bubble when he designed his bunker. Accidentally I happen know couple of people who might be suitable for the job. Count Casannuendo, for example. And Lady Christianna, if she is interested."
"I could have come to that idea myself."
"The point is that you didn't."
"Merde!"

Commander Atticus Batman told the Vigilant's Officer Yar to send the location of the last Synth mind control device to Erika Widowmaker in the Communication's Room of the Chancellor's Palace.
"Rodger that Brother Dear," Answered Erika, still feeling somewhat uncomfortable using terms of endearment with her brother when they both were communicating publicly in an official capacity but knowing he enjoyed it and was still getting used to having a family of any kind so she indulged him despite her uneasiness as to its propriety.
Volodja Uljanov then voiced his opinion that the air vents might be the best way to get into where the device was locked away, whereupon Erika nodded her agreement.
Erika watched her son Cael, the duly elected Chancellor, as he gave an encouraging speech to the people of the Votan Collective. Listening to his eloquence, she was sure it was he in charge rather than his hidden second personality Kabule, who was an efficient assassin but did not have the charisma of her son. Erika had tried to have the Mistress of Judgement's brainwashing removed from Cael several times but the Kabule personality refused to be erased, so now she tried just to keep his secret identity from those other than the Protector's main team.
Erika attention was drawn to the Synth Whitney's ministration to her still unconscious sister Ruby and Sandy Bell who had fallen back asleep and after watching for a bit asked, "Whitney, why didn't you go with your other Synth Sisters after they brought in the cots for our injured? Both Sandy and Ruby are stable now and are recovering."
Whitney sighed in such a human like manner that Erika had to force herself to remember that she was not a real flesh-and-blood girl but an android, albeit a very, very sophisticated one, then Whitney answered, "I'm not only the scientist and technician for out Synth Sisters' team, but also the team medic so I knew my duty was to stay by Ruby's side. As envoy for our people, she was meant to be the face of the Synth Empire to the other people's of Earth. As I was taught in the sciences as we were growing in our pod, she was being indoctrinated in diplomacy, philosophy, and strategy. Father described her as the Great Hope of the Empire with the rest of the Synth Sisters meant to support her in that mission."
Whitney sighed again, adding, "I guess we all failed both her and father."
"No, you've just evolved into your own persons - and that is what all children should do despite how their parents may feel they should turn out" Commented Erika as she glanced intently at her son before turning her jade eyes back to Whitney and saying, "Do you think you could help us disable Skarr's Synth controlling device here in the Palace? We have a med team coming in from the Vigilant, so both Ruby and Sandy will be taken care of by a skilled medical team soon."
Whitney's ice blue eyes narrowed in thought before a smile crossed her beautiful pale face as she replied, "Absolutely, if you can get me in! I can disable the electronic locks and traps, but mechanical ones - not so much!"
If on cue, Lady Christianna entered with the Vigilant's medical team who immediately went to work on caring for the injured. However all eyes were on the small thin Castithan teenager and she stopped short, her pink eyes growing big as she asked, "Whaaaaat?!?!"

"Hmm,"said Count Giacomo Casannuendo thoughtfully. "You expect me to climb into some pipes where I have a chance to smear my almost last clean laced silk shirt, ruin my hair and et cetera. To avoid the forced surprise moment and preserve our audience from waiting the obvious, I agree with the idea immediately. But where is the hatch? And what is the catch?"
"You will have to sneak through the ventilation system of the Chancellor's Palace and reach into Skarr's communication bunker. You are not alone. Lady Christianna is going with you. Together you will open the bunker door from inside and let IN our our technical experts, so they can take Skarr's Synth controller equipment OUT. You don't have height problems so you can get through there."
"In and out!" chuckled diminutive Liberata. "And they say that size doesn't matter!"
"Skill matters as well. I believe that ventilation system isn't secured but you still should be careful in there. And I do believe that Skarr's crew is waiting behind the same door because he won't leave the bunker unsecured. And you have superb skills to keep everybody off from falling to Lady's neck. I am not merely flattering you, dear Count. At moment there is nobody else I could entrust my former student to during this possibly dangerous task. You need decent weapons, though."
"I agree that swordplay is not an option in ventilation tunnels. To tight for decent fencing. And my sword is still in Pegasus, so I must rely on firearms and knife."
"You have whole armoury at your disposal, Giacomo."
After awhile Count Casannuendo was armed to teeth and he waddled into the medical bay to hear Lady Christianna's: "Whaaaaat?" That obviously meant that Count Casannuendo had some explaining to do. He pulled lungful of air, exhaled it and announced:
"Lady Christianna! Today is the day when two of us have an opportunity to get to know each other a bit better. Nothing will bring people closer than shared tasks. Your task is open Skarr's bunker from inside and my task is to protect you during that operation while your nimble fingers are busy with the lock. Then our people can liberate Synths from Skarr's influence for good. Someone once said: "There are no small roles, only small actors." Obviously that one didn't had to play those small roles himself. But I will say that it's up to us how big or small those roles are. I believe that we can make our part big! Huge! Large!"
Count Casannuendo continued his eloquence for awhile and Lady's pink eyes grew bigger and bigger and she found herself thinking that their possible infiltration group was composed of two radically opposite characters - small and silent Castithan girl and even smaller Liberata who was somehow able to fill whole room with his presence. But maybe, just maybe, that was exact combination they need to succeed.

Attila's team arrived back at the Palace shortly after the shuttle, newly christened 'The Hydra', had landed. Lady had already entered the palace. However the medics were right behind her. So his team entered the Palace's communications room right behind the medics.
As they walked into the room, the heard Count Casannuendo say, "Lady Christianna! Today is the day when two of us have an opportunity to get to know each other a bit better. Nothing will bring people closer than shared tasks. Your task is open Skarr's bunker from inside and my task is to protect you during that operation while your nimble fingers are busy with the lock.
Attila stepped around the medics as they bustled to the sides of Ruby and Sandy. Then Attila said confidently, "Well that sounds interesting. Alright Erika, we are back and the tower is down. So if Lady and The Count are sneaking in through the vent, then I will assume that my team is the one that they are to let in."
He had made sure to keep Erika from seeing his left side, but as Medic Joy Jameson moved past him she accidently bumped his armor and caused it to rub against his injury, which caused him to wince in slight pain. Seeing him wince in pain, Medic Jameson glanced back at his side and saw a glimpse of the bandage on his left shoulder. So she said, "Hey not so fast! Your injured! Let me look at it before you go anywhere!"
Attila rolled his eyes and said, "I will be fine, as long as nobody tells my sister yet. My EGO is doing a decent job of healing it, thanks to the help of Marcel who treated it, as well as Brooke who bandaged it. Besides I have seen several of our Commanders, especially Atticus, go into battle half-dead and come out alive. So a minor wound won't interfere with my work. Once Lady and The Count get us into the room, and my team has disabled that main Synth-control-system, then I will let you double-check my shoulder.
However our task is way too important for us to let such a minor wound interfere with it. I know Lena is a much more experienced tech than me, but she still may need my help and engineering knowhow. Besides it is possible that Skarr may have used a redundant dual-code lock system that may require us to unlock two different mechanisms at the same time, access two different terminals simultaneously, or some other such thing. There is also the fact that we came across a little yellow electronic key with the Castithan numeral 4 imprinted on it earlier, being hidden by one of Skarr's men.
Considering how hard he tried to hide it, and how reluctant he was to let it go, it seems important. So it is possible that we will require it and three other similar keys to disable Skarr's system ..... unfortunately my team hasn't found anymore keys. However it is also possible that it has nothing to do with Skarr's Synth-control-system and may actually be for some failsafe device or hidden escape plan that Skarr had setup in advance. Although it could also just be for a hidden safe containing all the treasures he has appropriated from the people of this city."

But maybe, just maybe, that was exact combination they need to succeed. "Uh... ummm... okay," Answered Lady looking up doubtfully at the grill covering their entrance into the air ducts, then turning to her sister-in-law Erika Widowmaker asking, "Foot up?" Erika raised a purple eyebrow above her jade eyes before asking incredulously, "Couldn't you just adjust your phasing powers and walk into the room between the atoms so to speak?" A pretty pout crossed Lady's teenage face before she answered sadly, "Lost the power - again!" The seven-foot tall Itathiant woman intertwined her strong red clay colored fingers giving the much smaller girl a boost up to the grill holding her steady as Lady quickly loosened the grill and let it fall to the ground with a clatter as she wrinkled her tiny chalk white nose before exclaiming, "Stuffy. Dark," Then took out a small torch from a belt pouch and shining it into the small tunnel before commenting, "Full of webs! Gonna be spiders. Yuck!" As Lady crawled into the vents soon followed by the Count who was also helped by the Irathiant strong woman, Attila Constantine said to Medic Jameson, "I will be fine, as long as nobody tells my sister yet. My EGO is doing a decent job of healing it, thanks to the help of Marcel who treated it, as well as Brooke who bandaged it. "Wait," Muttered the Synth Sister Whitney in a disappointed tone, "I thought I was the one disabling the Synth-control-system?!?!?" Lena Marr snuck up behind Whitney and with a wicked grin whispered in her ear, "Don't worry Girlfriend, you can help me! I just let him think he's in charge cause he's so cute when he thinks he's in command!" Both Whitney's Synth Sisters, Yvette and Brooke, nodded their heads in agreement although as to what part or if as to all of Lena's statement remained a mystery. Attila asserted, "However our task is way too important for us to let such a minor wound interfere with it. I know Lena is a much more experienced tech than me, but she still may need my help and engineering knowhow. " "See I told ya!" Commented Lena as her grim grew wider, more like a Castithan Cheshire Cat. Attila continued, "Besides it is possible that Skarr may have used a redundant dual-code lock system that may require us to unlock two different mechanisms at the same time, access two different terminals simultaneously, or some other such thing. "May I see the key please," Whitney asked holding out her hand and after Attila handed the key to her, she examined it carefully with focused ice blue eyes before saying, "If someone could make three more master keys, I could duplicate the electronic signature, or even make it shift signatures until the right one or three are found." Lena frowned mumbling, "I should have thought of that! I guess I can help you." Meanwhile Lady Christianna was making her way through the vents with her small flashlight clasped between her teeth towards the target room with the Liberata Count following closely at her heels. Suddenly Lady felt something fall onto the back of her neck biting her there and the torch fell from her mouth as she squealed more in surprise than in pain. While the light rolled around loose in the vent, her pink eyes grew wide as she saw hundreds of small mechanical spiders scurrying towards her in the vent - all with glowing eyes and Skarr's scowling face! At that point, Lady uttered a very real and terror laden scream, really wishing that she hadn't lost her density altering powers.

"Get behind me, young lady," said Count Giacomo Casannuendo gallantly whe nhe heard Lady Christianna's screams and realized that their path into the bunker wasn't covered with rose petals but spiders. There was a problem though because offering a safe place behind Count's back was easier than actually providing one. Vent pipe was a bit too...tight for that, so Count sighed mentally for a nanosecond before throwing his silk shirt to the dusty pipe floor with the rest of him. Once he was down there the Count exhaled and tightened his stomach muscles to pull his tummy inside as much as he could to reduce his diameter. Then he reached out his hand and pulled Lady by her foot. "Faster, dear!" he shouted with the last of his breath. "My stomach will separate from my spine soon and I can't stay flat forever!" Lady thought about his proposition and after reaching to decision she nodded and begun her crawl over Count's body making him join the circle of people who regretted that Lady lost her density shifting powers. She was thin and weighted almost none but her knees and elbows were quite sharp as Count found out soon enough. His face was pressed against the floor so he couldn't see a thing for awhile. The pressure to his head was lifted and he raised his dirty face from the ground to find himself facing the spider horde. "Done!" whispered Lady and Count could feel the last sharp touch of Lady's joints. Then the pressure was gone and he was able to move again. Casannuendo took a deep breath first. Then he took out his pump shotgun. Shottie was his first choice for the job because he was aware that he had to cover quite large area in front of him during the possible close quarter combat. Small automatic shottie because Count didn't wanted to drag a long and heavy weapon along. After all - he was the one who has to shoot from it. And now he had to shoot indeed. The surprise moment was already lost anyway because they both made enough sounds to warn everyone that someone was going to pay them a visit. "Open your mouth and cover your ears," he said. Lady's small mouth fell open as a natural reaction to that somewhat unusual request. Count saw that that reaction when he peeked over his shoulder so he explained: "The echo effect might cause some harm your eardrums. Lot of surfaces where sound can bounce off and we can't avoid that." Then his jaw fell downwards as well and he pulled the trigger. His fragger released high pitched whining voice which echoed in their heads just as much as it echoed in ventilation pipe. The gun talk - despite how whiny it sounded - wasn't only deafening but also deadly. At least to the spiders it was. First wave of projectiles wiped lot of itsy bitsy Skarrs off the wall. Then from another wall. Then from the ceiling. Then from the floor. Count crawled forward like a caterpillar, stopping here and then to shoot or reload until majority of mini Skarr's were gone. They moved and moved until Count felt ribs of another grill under his free palm. Locked grill. But no locks and latches could not hold Unstoppable Giacomo Casannuendo when he was determined to get in. He just smashed the grill with the butt of his shottie and the grill fell open. Instead of diving into the hole Could put hand to his pocket and pulled out a grenade. Count weighted it in his palm and tossed into the hole. They could hear the sound of metal hitting the concrete floor and then the sound of running feet. Count left the safety clip to it's place so there was no explosion. But he also knew that confusion effect lasts only counted moments so he jumped down the hole. His feet hit the ground and he looked quickly around to fixate enemy's position in the bunker. They spot him as well but weren't sure what to do because diminutive Count was dusty and covered with spider webs and reminded a ghost of some really irritated ancestor who came to punish those who dared to disturb his well deserved centuries long rest. But since he was so small and alone they begun to move closer.l "Nobody moves!" shouted Casannuendo Furioso. Suddenly he felt an itch on his back and reached his spare hand to the itchy spot. Instead of scratching his fingers felt something small and metallic. It was another Skarder (Skarr like spider). Without thinking too much, Count pulled his hand back with his catch and threw towards approaching bunker crew. It seemed like that some ancient rules of narrative were also woken up because against all the odds the Skarder hit the face of the closest enemy and pressed his tiny teeth into his nose, clinging there like a huge nose ring. Unfortunately that wasn't enough to hold the bunker crew back from jumping froward and burying the Count under the pile of bodies. "Open the door, dear! I doubt that I can keep masses busy much longer!" were Casannuendo's famous last polite words. Then there was only muffled cursing and punches...

"May I see the key please," Whitney asked holding out her hand and after Attila handed the key to her, she examined it carefully with focused ice blue eyes before saying, "If someone could make three more master keys, I could duplicate the electronic signature, or even make it shift signatures until the right one or three are found."
Lena frowned mumbling, "I should have thought of that! I guess I can help you."
Attila replied with, "Well that makes sense."
Just then they heard Lady scream followed shortly later by the sounds of a shotgun. Attila looked up at the vent, then back at Erika, worried about those that were in the vent. Then he said, "Shit! Erika from the sounds of it, I think my team better get outside and around the building to the bunker right away! Send Lena and Whitney as soon as they are done with their clever key-making task!"
Next Attila muttered, but whether to Erika, himself or the others, nobody was sure. However they could clearly make out what was said, as he said, "We better hurry! I sure as hell do not want to be the one who has to tell Atticus if Lady gets injured! He scares the crap out of me!"
Then as he drew and readied his own shotgun he said out-loud to the room, "Marcel, Yvette, Brooke! Those angry shotgun sounds are our cue to get to the bunker door, so that we can enter and help our friends immediately after they get the bunker door open! So let's go, but remember friendlies are in there! So once the door is open do not shoot until you are certain that it is a foe!"
Just as soon as his team was ready, he ran out the door with them all following close by. eventually they rounded the corner and saw the bunker door ahead of them, with a small guard post right in front of it. Unfortunately the bots at the guard post also spotted Attila's team and started firing. As Attila and the others fired back, Attila sent Marcel an EGO message saying, "Marcel, I think we need a sneak attack, and since you are currently guarding our rear, it will be easier for you to peel away, without the bots noticing you. So we'll keep them busy. You cloak and sneak up behind them! We need them destroyed so we can safely enter the bunker as soon as our friends-on-the-inside get it open for us!"
After his quick EGO discussion with Marcel, Attila and the two Synth sisters focused their fire on drawing the bots away from the bunker's door. That way it would serve two important purposes. One, it would buy Marcel enough time to sneak around and ambush the bots from behind; and two, it would keep the bots away from the bunker, so they won't be able to enter it and give support to any of Skarr's men that may be locked inside.

Marcel Lestrange grinned devilishly again. Even artificial intelligence of bots would have been able to understand that he had...intentions. Not cruel or mean but business like intentions. Those bots stood between him and his payment. An obstacle to get rid of to move closer to the prize. Easily removable obstacle. All he had to do...
Marcel pulled out a flashbang grenade. Then he thought a bit and added cluster grenade as well. No need to worry about alerting bunker defenders. They were already alerted by the shooting in vents and shooting in front of the bunker door, so explosion would make no difference. He still needed a mean to connect those two for the desired effect and after a short moment of hesitation Marcel removed his boots. Then he pulled his silk socks and placed grenades into them. What else he could use when he lacked duck tape? He put his boots back on and tied socks together. That will do.
Now he was sneaking and peaking around corners and moving only when he was sure that bots will not spot him. His unemotional eyes chose the most suitable bot for his plan. A floating swarmbot. Marcel put his Cloak on and moved closer to his prey. Bot did not registered his presence until it was too late. Marcel wrapped his socks around bots assaultron head with quick and slick hand movements as it was a scarf, pulled safeties off and pushed swarmbot amidst it's companions. Then he run behind the corner again.
Swarmbot hovered towards his team mates and then it was torn apart by two simultaneous explosions. It was a blast with local meaning and was not even very wide but that was enough to liquidate the group. Other bots received shower of robot splinters, small bomblets from the cluster grenade and those remains of bots which remained standing on their feet were electrocuted by Marcel's flashbang grenade. He created quite a mess but Marcel did not had time to enjoy the sight. He had to finish off rest of his opponents so he rushed out again, grabbed his firearm and moved among robot remains finishing off those which show slightest sign of functioning.
When that was done Marcel turned his devilish grin (with the lit cigarette in the corner of his mouth) towards his team and said in cynical manner: "You cost me pair of perfectly new socks, Protectors. I will have to add their cost to the bill. By the way - the path to the punker is cleared!"

"Open the door, dear! I doubt that I can keep masses busy much longer!" were Casannuendo's famous last polite words. Then there was only muffled cursing and punches...
Her pink eyes wide, Lady Christianna activated her EGO's cloaking powers before swinging her small legs over the hole in the vent and jumping down. Once she landed, she had lost track of the diminutive Liberata Count so she darted to the shadows, making her way slowly to the front door of the room. Lady was almost always unnoticed even when not stealthed, but with the Count making himself the center of attention she was unchallenged as she opened the mechanical locks from the inside just as the Synth Sister Whitney and Lena Marr opened the electronic locks so that she almost fell through the door when it opened.
However, a very angry and heavily armed seven foot Irathian Amazon was at the door so an open mouthed Lady caught herself as her attention was riveted on her huge muscular sister-in-law making the teenager quickly turn off her "cloak" while holding her chalk white hands up palms forward as she yelled, "Don't shoot! Just me!"
Erika Widowmaker scooped up her small thin sister-in law and threw her over one shoulder while still holding at the ready her assault rifle with her free hand, then turned on a dime saying to Attila Constantine before taking her young charge to safety, "Get you team in there, secure the area, then disable that Synth controlling device!"
Erika knew the order was needless for Attila was in command of the strike team and knew what to do but it made her feel better to give it. It kept her mind off her very real worry for her good friend Count Casannuendo for he was nowhere to be seen yet she could hear the fighting from within the heavily guarded room and she had no doubt that he was at the center of it. Erika wasn't sure what their relationship was - or even what she wanted it to be - but she knew she felt more concern than she would for just a fellow brother-in-arms and that in itself disturbed her - but not necessarily in a bad way.
When Erika gave the order, the two Synth Sisters Brooke and Yvette grinned at each other and said in unison, "Don't have to tell me twice!" before diving into the room and engaging any enemy they found in devastating hand-to-hand, or in Brooke's case, hand-to-claw, combat.
"Wait for me!" Yelled the third Synth Sister Whitney fast on their heels brandishing her rapier now that she was finished with her locksmith duties and wanting to get in on the action.
After the electronic locks of the door were open, Lena's unblinking sky blue eyes, strangely for her, didn't seek enemies but instead sought her true love, finding him looking tough with a cigarette drooping from his lower lip and basking in his victory over the guard bots. With a wicked grin on her pretty chalk white face, the Castithan woman ran to him, only stopping to remove the cigarette from his lips before kissing him passionately with her own lush lips. Lena resisted the urge to push him to the ground and make mad crazy love to him, for although she was certifiably insane, she knew there was a time to make love and a time to make war, and this was clearly the latter.
So instead Lena drew her favorite weapons, her twin Bowie knives she had named "Slice" and "Dice" and without a word joined the battle blurring her way through any enemy that was still standing in the outside room while anticipating any reinforcements that might arrive to help Skarr's beleaguered guards. Although Lena expected the enemy to get help, she didn't expect the form of that help, which was a huge female shaped robot that tore through the walls of the bunker with giant taloned hands and who looked vaguely familiar.
"Revenge!" It screamed in a strident voice whereupon Lena recognized the red eyed half masked face as a horrid facsimile of Skarr's dead sister - Dr. Liza Faru!

"You could come and break that wall a bit earlier," said Marcel Lestrange coldly. "It would have saved us from lot of trouble. And for me it would saved pair of socks." "How dare you!" hissed robot. "I speak about REVENGE and you speak about SOCKS!" "I use freedom of speech which grants me a right to express my opinion and I have my priorities," replied Marcel, nudging his beloved Lena gently away from harm's path. "From my point of view my socks are worth more than your revenge. Easy as that." "I'll skin you alive and use the material for leather socks," said robot dramatically and begun to approach Marcel. Unfortunately for her she did not spot Count's grenade of the floor and put her robotic leg right on the spot. The round metal sphere begun to roll like an oversized marble ball and robot fell to her back, shouting: "Reveeeeenge!" Marcel stopped the roll of the grenade with the help of his boot, picked it from the floor and examined for a brief moment before tossing it to Constantine brother who caught it with one automatic hand move. "Someone removed the detonator to avoid causing damage. I wonder who that softy was..." stated Marcel, pulling out his pistol and emptying the clip at robot's legs. It was said that kick someone when they are down is unfair but as long as Marcel remembered, nobody said anything about shooting someone who was down, so he used the opportunity. "Me, you French buffoon!" shouted Count Casannuendo from the centre of the action. Meanwhile robotic Faru begun to move again but since her metal legs were crippled, she could only crawl now. That did not decreased her determination, blood thirst and lust for revenge. Her metal arms carried weight of her body effortlessly causing clinking clonking sounds and every clink or clonk brought her closer to Paradise Protectors. "You know," said Marcel Lestrabge, changing the clip of his pistol. "I have heard that robots tend to get more dangerous the more they are damaged! Shall we find that out? No?" He walked by robot's side and emptied another clipful of bullets into her metal head. Nothing stops the rage better than a shower of hot metal. Unfortunately for Protectors the bunker crew did not bother to appreciate Casannuendo's expression of humanity and kept beating him up as a sign of their gratitude for sparing their lives. Most of them got bored fighting Casannuendo when they found him to be quite small shaped, overly furious and movable, so lot of blows and kicks hit their own people instead of him. And since amount of intruders increased, the bunker protectors greeted an opportunity having a mass fight. They jumped to their feet and Paradise Protectors had to face an angry mob instead of dealing with one angry robot. Hole in the bunker wall caught out another portion of Skarr's supporters who witnessed the fall of their leader - robotic Faru - and joined the fight screaming just like her:

"I use freedom of speech which grants me a right to express my opinion and I have my priorities," replied Marcel, nudging his beloved Lena gently away from harm's path. "From my point of view my socks are worth more than your revenge. Easy as that." Lena Marr's chalk white jaw dropped when Marcel pushed her away not realizing his intent but instead thinking the worst, that he just wanted her out of his way so she telepathically asked her EGO psyche, Hope, "Does he think I'm a liability now? That I can't take care of myself? Or worse, I'm just an obstacle to what he wants to do, which in this case is to destroy a fucking big robot? I could of destroyed the fucking big robot - just plunge Slice and Dice into the back of its neck stem! I planned on jumping on it's back and doing that when he pushed me out of his way! I could of opened that door all by myself too! Maybe he wants to replace me with that Synth girl, Whitney! She is awfully pretty and that is his type - pale and white haired as I ought to know! Yeah, she beat me to the punch on opening the electronic locks on the door, but she has a computer for a brain! A damn fast computer! I could of done that if I had a positronic brain! Okay so, Whitney's smart and beautiful and will never age and never get wrinkly and die of old age and... Gods, I don't blame him for wanting her over me - not much anyway! Hell, I want her over me!" Then the voices in her head, those representing the seven deadly sins, all began screaming their opinion drowning out Hope's voice of reason. At the same time, Lena got angrier and angrier as she blurred through the enemy slicing arteries and tendons in her wake, making sure to incapacitate them not out of compassion but so they would be sure to die slowly and in agony. She seemed to be everywhere at once - where ever there was a concentration of Skarr's minions - slashing and dashing like an irate humming bird with the sharp talons of a predatory bird. Finally she came about the group battering the beleaguered Liberata, Count Casannuendo. He was valiantly fending off the blows of a dozen attackers and although they were hitting each other as much as him, the number of the blows that landed on him were beginning to take their toll. "Hmm...," Thought Lena to herself, "I could zoom in and pluck him out of danger or I could ignore him and just have fun killing his attackers whereupon he might survive... or might not!" "I hope you will just get the poor man to safety," Said Hope but the other voices in Lena's head all voted for murder and mayhem, each for reasons of their own. "Yeah, yeah... damn I've been hanging out with these fraking Protectors for way too long!" Replied Lena with a deep frown as she raced to the diminutive Count's side fatally cutting those on top of him before picking him up the cradling him like a small child in her arms before blurring out of the crowd again asking him with a wicked grin as she ran, "Hey Count! You're royalty, right? You got a place in your royal entourage for me - courtesan or bodyguard, I don't care! My present business partner dumped me as a liability for a newer model." After she got the Count to relative safety at the far side of the room, Lena put him down staring daggers at Marcel who was in the midst of battle unknowing and in ignorant bliss of the carnage he wrought on Lena's emotions by his simple heroic action as she commented in an aside to the Count, "Of course, now I have to kill him! Nobody dumps Lena Marr!"

When that was done Marcel turned his devilish grin (with the lit cigarette in the corner of his mouth) towards his team and said in cynical manner: "You cost me pair of perfectly new socks, Protectors. I will have to add their cost to the bill. By the way - the path to the punker is cleared!"
Attila remarked, "As long as I am not the one who has to tell Atticus, you can try to charge him whatever you want! Just leave me out of it!"
Lady was almost always unnoticed even when not stealthed, but with the Count making himself the center of attention she was unchallenged as she opened the mechanical locks from the inside just as the Synth Sister Whitney and Lena Marr opened the electronic locks so that she almost fell through the door when it opened.

Lena resisted the urge to push him to the ground and make mad crazy love to him, for although she was certifiably insane, she knew there was a time to make love and a time to make war, and this was clearly the latter.
Attila rolled his eyes as the Synth sisters rushed in not needing the verbal order, and Lena had ran over to Marcel. However Attila felt the urge to say something. So he said; a quote he had heard in the movie 'The Postman!'. Although Kaj Oenfer and Volodja Uljanov had both pointed out to him at that time that the quote was originally by a William Shakespeare. (Or Kaj pointed it out, and Volodja got himself lost in a tangent about Shakespeare's use and meaning of the Quote, as well as the historical significance of it): "Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more!"
So instead Lena drew her favorite weapons, her twin Bowie knives she had named "Slice" and "Dice" and without a word joined the battle blurring her way through any enemy that was still standing in the outside room while anticipating any reinforcements that might arrive to help Skarr's beleaguered guards.
Attila rolled his eyes again as Lena, followed closely by Marcel rushed past Attila and into the bunker as well. However he did mutter to himself, "Damn, this leading thing is a pain!" Then he rushed into the bunker right behind the rest of his team.
Liza Faru!

Attila glanced toward where the Count's voice had come from. However, before he had a chance to get anywhere near the dog-pile, an angry mob had followed 'Liz Faru' out of her hole-in-the-wall screaming, "Revenge!"
So as he quickly secured the detonator-less grenade in an armored pocket, he quickly sent a message over the team's EGO channel saying, "Somebody get the Count out of that pile! Then we need to deal with the enemy so Lena and Whitney can disable Skarr's system!"
Then he noticed two soldiers using swords to fight Brooke as another soldier figured he could help his teammates by aiming a gun at Brooke while she was busy. So Attila activated his blur and Shoulder-Charged the gun-toting soldier knocking him into one of his sword-wielding teammates and knocking the gun from the soldier's hand from the impact.

"Looks like that Marcel is trying to tell you something," said Count and pointed his finger towards Marcel who was busy with trying to screw off the head of one of his opponents. He let the limp body to fall, grabbed another opponent by his shoulder, hit his jaw with his massive first and and when Marcel caught glances of Lena and the Count, he used his free hand to blow an air kiss towards Lena while his other hand slammed opponent's head against the wall. Just like great poets who wrote verses to their beloved with the blood of their own hearts, Marcel Lestrange used blood to express his feelings towards Lena. At least he used someone's blood to do it. When he spotted the bleeding nose of his enemy, he grabbed back of his head and draw huge heart to the bunker wall, using his face like a pencil. "What a romantic," grinned Casannuendo and saw how Marcel grabbed two new enemies who appeared in front of him by their ears and knocked their heads together. Suddenly another one slid himself between the wall and Marcel's back and slammed his head with the wrench he was armed with. Marcel managed to say: "Leeeena" and released his hold, letting those two go. Then he fell down his knees and then hit the floor with his height and weight. Three opponents joined their forces and begun to beat Marcel with their heavy boots. "Seems that you have to stay in line," coughed Casannuendo. "You are not the only one who wants to kill him." Then he begun to rise to his small feet. Marcel was not his favourite human being on Earth but he was still in Casannuendo's team and Count felt obliged to help him when he was in trouble...

“It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.” ― William Shakespeare***** "What a romantic," grinned Count Casannuendo and saw how Marcel Lestrange grabbed two new enemies who appeared in front of him by their ears and knocked their heads together. Suddenly another one slid himself between the wall and Marcel's back and slammed his head with the wrench he was armed with. Marcel managed to say: "Leeeena" and released his hold, letting those two go. "Awww, he does love me," Exclaimed Lena Marr with a genuine grin with not a sign of wickedness, just unrelenting true love, glancing at the diminutive Count and threatening, "And if you tell him anything I just told you I'll have to kill you!" Then Marcel fell down his knees and then hit the floor with his height and weight. Three opponents joined their forces and begun to beat Marcel with their heavy boots. Lena was unsure what to do. Some of the voices in her head said leave him to his fate. Others said if Lena helped him she'd be questioning his masculinity and he'd hate her forever. Hope, Lena's EGO psyche commented with a frown, "I hope you're not just going to just stand there and let him be stomped to death." "Seems that you have to stay in line," coughed Casannuendo. "You are not the only one who wants to kill him." Then he begun to rise to his small feet. Marcel was not his favourite human being on Earth but he was still in Casannuendo's team and Count felt obliged to help him when he was in trouble. Lena rolled her unblinking sky blue eyes heavenward and placed a chalk white forefinger to the corner of her lush lips a second before making up her mind, then shouting before cartwheeling with both Bowie knives drawn into the fray, "Comiiiiiing Pooh Bear! Not in the usual way, but you know what I meeeeean!" ***** Once in the relative safety of outside the bunker, Erika Widowmaker carefully put her small Castithan sister-in-law down before raising her assault rifle and firing at the few Skarr loyalists who had followed them putting them on fire with the fire nanos of her gun as Lady Christianna sighed muttering under breath, "Saved again... destined to just be a mother..." Erika had very acute hearing and frowned when she heard her sister-in-law's comment so turned when she was sure they were safe from Skarr's minions before scolding, "Don't you say that Lady! Ever! There is no greater honor than being a good and caring mother and you are both!" Then Erika's tone softened as she added, "And you are an essential member of this team - never forget this. Although combat is not your forte, you have many other skills that compensate for that lack, and I don't mean your uncertain powers as a force of nature or even your EGO powers. With Belle gone, you are the heart of this team - and don't you forget it!" Lady was speechless, which was not new or unusual for her, as Erika was suddenly distracted by the arrival of more of Skarr's minions who she quickly sprayed with her assault rifle. Lady then received a message that the injured were loaded onto the Hydra, the Vigilant's shuttle, and the med team was ready to leave. Lady looked up at the tall muscular Irathient women who gave her a quick nod of approval before renewing her gunfire to give her cover whereupon Lady blurred to where the shuttle was parked to use one of those exceptional skills that Erika hinted at - that of being a great pilot! ***** "You're going to be fine Commander Bell, just hang in there, " Said Medic Jameson in a voice she hoped was reassuring to the young woman on the stretcher being carried onto the shuttle, "I've contacted Lady and she'll be here soon for our take-off." "Missus Uljanov I guess now," replied Sandy with slurred speech, groggy from the painkillers Joy had given her, "Although I guess I should keep my maiden name... being a modern woman and all," Sandy laughed at the comment until she began coughing from the pain adding with a wince, "Either way, I've got to quit getting stabbed... hell of a honeymoon..." ***** Lexy, the Vigilant's AI, appeared in holographic little girl form with an old fashioned WW II army helmet on and saluting Commander Atticus Batman who was sitting silently in the command chair on the bridge before she said with a smile, "Incoming!" "Where? From Capital City?," Growled Atticus sitting up from the thinker pose he had been in as he worried about his wife and sister fighting on the ground below, "Nope, from deep space. Could be an awfully large missile or an awfully small spaceship," Replied Lexy, disappointment clear in her voice that he had not returned her salute. Suddenly Atika Constantine at the communication station interjected in an excited voice, "Commander Atticus - I'm getting a radio message from that object in space on our old priority one security wavelength." "What's it say already," Growled Atticus with his tone and glowing eyes changing to fit his growing impatience. "Just two words over and over - star eyes" The young Irathient girl answered wondering what the message meant.
