The Synth Sisters fought on against the giant centipedes swarming around them unknowingly helped by Atticus Batman's expertly placed rifle shots. The feline Brooke bounced around from tree limb to tree limb agilely dodging the insects' attacks while dealing death blows of her own with her sharp claws. He sister Yvette was a more straightforward fighter landing hay-maker after hay-maker with her power gloves while flying headfirst through the crawling throng of enemies.
Finally Yvette landed muttering loudly in frustration at what appeared to her to be the creatures' ever increasing numbers, "Enough of this!" before simultaneously striking the ground forcefully with both power gloves generating a titanic force wave that decimated the bugs' mass before smiling and remarking, "And THAT is how its done!"
As Yvette hit the ground, I felt Lady's presence on the jungle floor far below me walking away from the Synth sisters. So I quickly looked back at the battle in my scope and saw that it was over. So I used my helm's built in hailer to send Yvette and Brooke a message on the chat frequencies they gave us, saying, "Glad you two are safe. However I need to go after my wife. You will find the Vigilant not far from here, on the remains of highway BR-364. You better check in with Sandy there, so she can notify the search teams and your sisters that you are both alright."
As I sent that message, I started following Lady, while I continued to stay up in the trees. As I did so, it donned on me that I better check in with the Vigilant as well. So I hailed Sandy. When she answered, I said, "Sandy it's Atticus. We noticed a disturbance to the west of my location. So Volodja went to investigate and Marcel was supposed to be with me...however we got seperated. The good news though, is that Brooke and Yvette have been found and seem relatively alright. I told them to report to you. I have also picked up and am now following Lady's trail. I will check in again, when I have something more to report."
After Sandy's response I hung up, as I continued to follow Lady's trail. Fortunately for me she had stopped at one point for some reason. (it was when she stopped to study a rare flower before duplicating it many times, leaving a trail as she moved on.) So it wasn't long before I easily found her trail of rare flowers. From there, I quickly closed the gap and got closer to her.
Lady Christianna continued to float across the jungle underbrush in her misty ghost like form heedless of her surroundings but leaving a trail of pink exotic flowers behind her. She definitely was following a distant drummer - and one that others did not seem to hear. However, from far above in the jungle canopy, I continued to follow her silently and stealthily. As she didn't seem to notice or acknowledge my presence, like she usually did, I was VERY curious what was going on with my wife. So rather than drop down and make myself known, I continued to stealthily follow her. That way I could see where she is heading and more importantly backup and protect her if needed.

"My husband is out there in one of the search parties as is Commander Batman," Replied Sandy Bell calmly from the command chair as she checked the Vigilant's radar adding, "If Atika is in trouble they will find your sister wherever she is and bring her back. However, the faster we get this bird in the air the faster we can recon from the skies for the search parties so do your job Attila and help Lexy so we'll be up there faster to help them."
Attila frowned at her and sourly said, "I know you're right and will do my job, but it does not mean I have to be happy about it!"
Then Sandy ordered communications, "Even though its before their scheduled check-ins, have all search parties hail us immediately with their map co-ordinates. Either the crash or something in the area is making the Vigilant's radar act erratically."
All the three-person search parties reported in but Erika Widowmaker's and Commander Batman's which worried Sandy to no end since her new husband Volodja Uljanov was part of the latter's party, so she put out a general alert to the others to keep their eyes out for anything amiss and to investigate carefully. Sandy understood Attila's desire to charge out rashly to find their missing loved ones and at one time she would have been right next to him as he did so but Atticus had entrusted her with the command chair and that meant the lives of everyone on the Vigilant. She could not and would not abandon them for her own whims no matter how much she longed to feel herself in Volodja's loving arms and to know personally that he was safe and sound.
So instead of charging out of the Vigilant with Attila on her heels, Sandy merely listened to the reports of the search teams coordinating their efforts as she directed damage control all over the Vigilant letting the experts do their repairs and often merely replying to their recommendations, "Make it so."
As the rescue teams and the various departments of the Vigilant reported, Sandy Bell glanced at Attila Constantine who was looking miserable and worried over his missing sister. Sandy was worried herself over her missing new husband of little more than an hour, Volodja Uljanov, but she had to stay brave because Commander Batman had put her in command of the Vigilant after it had crashed. "Hell of a honeymoon" She thought to herself.
Still... Sandy realized she didn't have to stay that brave!
Sandy got up from her command chair and walked over to the young Irathiant throwing her arms around him hugging him hard, then whispering in his ear, "We'll find them both, I promise."
Attila would have normally made some sort of naughty remark to a hot woman hugging him. However given what was on his mind, and how Sandy was being a good friend (something he was still getting used to, as he and Atika were each other's ONLY real friend back in Mongolia), he instead was quiet as he hugged her back just as hard. Then he whispered back, "Thank you for being a friend but ____ you don't quite understand. Non-twins never do. She isn't just my sister. Atika is my soul-mate....my other half. However you are right, we will find them."
Just then Atticus' call came in so Sandy broke the hug and responded to him. After she hung up, Attila could see that she was now even more worried. So he gave Sandy another hug and reminded her that they would find them.
As she nodded, Attila said, "Look Captain, as you said we all have our jobs to do, so we better focus on them. That way we can find our loved ones that much sooner."
Just then he glanced back at the Bridge's engineering console and suddenly he had a thought about the problem, and blurted out, "Tomsog! (Mongolian for: 'Balls!')"
Then he continued with, "I think I figured out the issue with the diagnostics console, thanks to you! ...It just needs a hug as well!"
When Attila moved towards the console, he answered Sandy's unspoken question, saying, "If I have Lexy help me create a twin protocol for the diagnostics console, then the two protocols will 'hug' and help each other do the job!...I just wish Atika was here to help. She is the language and programming person, not me! I am just the inquisitive but reckless inventor!
As Attila and Lexy started working on implementing his idea, he had another thought and without taking his eyes off his work, he said to Sandy, "Wait, I think I heard once that Lena Marr is good with improvising this type of programming protocol! So do you think she would be able and willing to come help me, in her present condition?"

Post by Marcel Lestrange on Aug 16, 2017 11:38:47 GMT
"Such an egoist! Diving into some shithole and leaving me here!" thought Marcel and couple of juicy but yet fiery French curses from witch "Salaud" ("bastard") was lightest and politest one, before attacking robot from behind. He put the barrel of his pistol against back of the metal head and and shot several times, making it look like a sieve.
"Va te faire foutre!" ("Go fuck yourself!" Marcel exclaimed, although it was not sure if those words were meant for the robot or Volodja Uljanov. There were still couple of robots left to exterminate so Marcel dedicated his precious attention to that task. He Blurred between them, staying into boundaries of the jungle opening just like Volodja did before, because Marcel had no worries to fell into the portal after that portal closed itself.
"S'il vous plait, fils de pute," he announced. "If it pleases you, motherfucker." And Marcel shot off robot's legs. Machine was stubborn, though, and kept crawling towards him, so Marcel had to end that determined crawl by planting another clipful of bullets into it's body. "That should do it," he decided when he heard another dying bleep. Then he made another robot to release it's terminal bleep. Then another one. And another! And another, until there was none.
"What a scrapyard," sighed Marcel. "Is there anyone left alive, so I can kill it?" he asked from Moira.
"There is but I am quite sure that you don't want to kill that one," was her reply. "In the hole. One of Protectors. Atika is her name."
"Really?" said Marcel. "She will be my ticket to safe haven then. If I present her instead of Volodja, then I can say that I did everything to save Protectors."
Marcel measured deepness of the hole and looked around for something rope like. There were couple of jungle vines near by and Marcel did not hesitate to cut them with his knife, tie them together to make that improvised rope longer and more resilient and let it slid down the hole.
"Young Miss!" he screamed. "This is Marcel Lestrange speaking. Listen very carefully. I will say this only once."
"What?!"
"I will say this only once!" repeated Marcel. "Grab the rope and I will pull you out."
"What?!"
"GRAB THE ROPE! I WILL PULL YOU OUT!" yelled Marcel. "AND IF YOU CAN THEN I WOULD APPRECIATE TO AVOID SAYING "WHAT" AGAIN UNLESS YOU WANT TO END UP LIKE BRETT!"
"Who's Brett?!"
"Good question. And different one," muttered Marcel when he felt a weight on the other end of the rope. "I am a bit irritated by the whole situation so...

Still in the hole, the poison had worn off. However the fall had given Atika a concussion and knocked her out cold. While she was unconscious her EGO managed to heal the concussion, however she was still very groggy and somewhat out of it when she heard a disembodied voice from above.
"Young Miss," Marcel screamed. "This is Marcel Lestrange speaking. Listen very carefully. I will say this only once."
Atika, still hearing ringing in her groggy head answered back with, "What?!"
"I will say this only once!" repeated Marcel. "Grab the rope and I will pull you out."
She repeated, "What?"
"GRAB THE ROPE! I WILL PULL YOU OUT!" yelled Marcel. "AND IF YOU CAN THEN I WOULD APPRECIATE TO AVOID SAYING "WHAT" AGAIN UNLESS YOU WANT TO END UP LIKE BRETT!"
Confused, the groggy girl responded with, "Who's Brett?!"
"Good question. And different one," muttered Marcel when he felt a weight on the other end of the rope. "I am a bit irritated by the whole situation so..."
Atika, rubbed her head and finally responded with something other than 'what'. This time she said, "...Oh a rope! ....ok! Please get me out soon! It is so dark and oppressive in here...wherever here is! I thought I was going to die!........Oh the others! Robots took them! Skarr's face was on one, gloating! We need to find and help them!"
Just then, the rope dropped down. So Atika grabbed it tight and yelled back up with, "Got it! Please pull me up now Mr. Lestrange!"

Deeper and deeper...
"Take the Irathiant skank to the dungeon. I'll be in my quarters... relaxing. Contact me only for an emergency." heard Volodja.
"I wonder whom you are going to contact in case of emergency," thought Volodja in darkness. "And I will guarantee you an emergency indeed." he followed Skarr while remaining into cover shadows and literally becoming one of them. Volodja Cloaked when necessary, Blurred through the lighted spots when needed and stood still when he had to let some Skarr's henchmen pass him.
Despite the sudden twist of events he was calm and concentrated because now he was right in hornet's nest and panicking would only worsen already bad situation. And if he manages to get others free then there will be already three against a legion...Right now Volodja had a chance to strike right in the middle of the nest and neutralize the main hornet at once, leaving other hronets headless, so he could worry about his own safety later.
Once in Skarr's bedroom Ruby was roughly tossed to the wide king sized bed and Skarr who commanded audience out prepared to leap...
Suddenly he felt an electric strike in his spidery part when Volodja struck him with the table lamp he grabbed from the night stand. Not very long ago Volodja Cloaked himself through the door right after Skarr and his escort and when the escort was sent out he remained inside and had to improvise a bit to save Ruby. Unfortunately Volodja could not force himself to hit Skarr with his sapper shovel and needed to get his attention to beat him up in more honourable way than hitting him behind his back. Short shock was enough to make Skarr turn around...
A big "but".
But Skarr, instead of fighting, turned around and jumped into the nearby closet. Closet's back wall shifted aside and revealed a hole where Skarr disappeared. The back wall slided back to it's place and separated villain from Volodja. No epic fight this time.
"Should have guessed that he planned an escape route in advance," muttered Volodja. "In case an angry mob wants to pay him a visit. Just like that portal earlier. Ruby dear..." he continued with somewhat louder voice. "We must get the hell out of here at once. Skarr will alert the whole house as soon as he can and we still have Erika to find!" He reached his hand, took Ruby's palm and helped her to rise. She was still quite stunned so Volodja had to toss her over his shoulder and carry out.
It was much harder to move and hide with the burden. Several times Volodja had to put Ruby down and hide her and find himself different hiding place to avoid someone spotting them. But no matter how complicated their task was, they managed to make their way back to the portal room where Volodja put Roby down once again and knocked out portal operator after short sneaking sequence. He hid his unconscious body carefully because they needed him later to open right portal and allow them escape the place. Then he went after Erika...
Complications but not complete ones.
Volodja Spent some time to find Erika. He had to listen guards talk and orientate in the jungle of Votan languages to find any information about Erika's whereabouts. That took precious time but sifting that ton of sand gave few gold nuggets, id est clues, so he was able to continue his path. Ruby who had gathered herself followed him closely until they reached behind the door. The door had a sign above it. Not the "Abandon hope all ye who enter here" kind of sign but simple sign plaque, saying: "Research laboratory" after being translated into English. "Don't disturb!" added another one, hanging on the door knob.
"Erika is behind it," whispered Volodja and pulled the door quietly open.
An old f(r)iend
Voldoja's eyes caught a silhouette of Indogene who was bending over operation table, Erika was tied to. Suddenly Ruby sneezed gently making Indogene turn around for a second. That face..it was very familiar to Volodja but...
"Not a single step, Mr. Uljanov. Or I cut her throat," said Indogene. "Put any weapon like items to the ground and step closer if you don't want me to kill her."
Volodja nudged Ruby who was hidden behind his back secretly out of the door and stepped closer to Indogene. He couldn't risk with Erika's life. Volodja was quite sure that in most situations like this, a hostage taker was hoping to find a way out and threats were threats of desperate peoples who actually knew that if they kill their human shield nothing will stop other from killing them so they sort of tried to bluff their way out. But this time Volodja was on the enemy territory and the one with hostage was on the home ground and nothing will keep that Indogene fulfilling his promise. Volodja had to be a good boy and play along.
"Would you be so kind and lay down to the next table, Mr. Uljanov."
Volodja did what he was told to to spare Erika's life and soon he was strapped tight.
"If you are going to say "Impossible!" or "You are dead!" then it's pointless," told Indogene to now strapped Volodja. "It is possible and I am dead indeed. To be precise then my original is dead and I am a Synth. You see -Governor Skarr mourned my loss in his own way. He couldn't afford losing such an expert so he took a sample of tissue and used it to recreate his favourite specialist about pain. And now we sort of meet again, because I inherited original's skills and memories so I am him. To be honest I am quite happy to see you again. We had such a wonderful, not to mention educative interrogation session together. I learned a lot and now I have an opportunity to learn some more. Meanwhile I developed a tiny theory about high testosterone level and how it helps to resist the pain. This time we will remove your testicles, Mr. Uljanov and see how resistant you are after that small operation during which you will lose your source of testosterone." And the Indogene begun to handpick necessary operational equipment...

Post by Lady Christianna on Aug 16, 2017 15:15:24 GMT
Lady Christianna floated even faster toward her goal with a sudden sense of urgency. The drums she heard only in her head were now audible by ears as well. As she entered a clearing she could see the source of the drumbeats as something even more alarming. Scores of native drummers lined a path of stony steps to the top of an ancient overgrown Aztec temple where a tanned white woman dressed in a leopard skin bikini and an insect-like mask with a golden dagger raised over her head stood poised over the struggling body of a young native girl tied to a elaborately carved altar. There was something familiar to Lady about the woman with the sacrificial knife at the top of the steps - the way she moved and her body type - but she didn't have time to ponder on it before the woman began to speak loudly. "Behold," Exclaimed what appeared to be a high priestess, "The Spider-god has sent us a jungle nymph to show his approval of the People's sacrifice to him! " Lady then noticed that at the base of the pyramid structure there was a crowd of hundreds of primitive humans with upraised spears yelling, "DEE! DEE! DEE! DEE! DEE!" The woman raised her dagger even further upwards before beginning it's plummet into the young girl's heart. Lady tried to scream "Stop" but no noise would issue from her fog enshrouded throat. She threw up her misty arms imploring the woman to stop but no one appeared to notice. To all appearances, the young girl on the altar was doomed.

Post by Sandy Bell on Aug 17, 2017 0:16:24 GMT
Sandy Bell's blonde eyebrows shot up above her wide blue eyes as Lena Marr sashayed onto the Bridge of the downed Vigilant. Sandy was not surprised because Lena was on the bridge for she had asked her to come EGO to EGO. What put that shocked look on Sandy's pretty tan face was that Lea's blue armor was covered in foodstuff and Sandy was pretty sure that there was some cherry pie crust in Lena's snowy white tresses. Castithan women as a rule were meticulous in their dress and although Lena Marr was neither your typical Castithan or typical woman, she usually looked more neat than this - for her lover Marcel Lestrange if for nothing elseI While Sandy was thinking, Lena snapped her chalk white fingers in Sandy's face saying sardonically, "Hey toots! You called me not me you. What do you need? Time is money after all." Looking grim, Sandy spoke right to the point, " If we are going to get this ship back in the air, we need an expert on improvising programming protocols. I've been told you can help in this matter." Lena went over and stood over where Attila Constantine knelt indicating the problem making sure he had a good view of the plunging neckline on her open armor before standing up and walking back to Sandy and remarking nonchalantly, "Yeppers, I can fix it easy-peasey - but its gonna cost ya!" As Lena held out an open hand wiggling her money-grubbing fingers, Sandy frowned and shook her head "No" while explaining, "Commander Batman already agreed to pay you and Mr. Lestrange a set fee for your help on this mission and I'm not going to pay you any more scrip for what you are already being paid for." Lena frowned an even bigger frown than Sandy's before her lush lips turned up in a wicked grin as she exclaimed in a bad southern accent, "Massah Marcel is gonna beat me silly if I's does a job and don't get no scrip for it for it at all," Lena held out her hand expectantly. Sandy sighed then reached into her fatigue pant's pocket taking out a single scrip note which she straightened out and put into Lena's outstretched hand whereupon Lena sighed a louder sigh before agreeing, "Okay, I know Pooh Bear would want to get out of here a soon as possible and you did just pay me so I'll do it." "Do you need any special equipment or anything?" Asked Sandy with a tilt of her blond head. Lena smiled wickedly while tapping her head with one forefinger as she rolled her long-lashed sky blue eyes heavenward while explaining, "All the special equipment I need is right up here." Lena consulted for a short time with Attila as to what the problem was but this time there was no sexual flirtation for she was now all business. After he briefed her she went straight to a computer workstation breaking through security encryptions as if they were cardboard walls. Lena then rolled her eyes heavenward again as she put a forefinger to the corner of her lush lips while she created the needed computer program in her head. Lena knew that she was talented when it came to computers and electronics but what she didn't know was that she really was a genius in those fields of science. Still Lena would have scoffed if someone told her so. Lena merely knew she had a knack that helped her bypass security measures and solve problems that kept her from getting what she wanted when she wanted and that knowledge was enough for her. Lexy, the Vigilant's AI popped up as the hologram of a small child asking, "Whatchadoing Lena?" Lena genuinely smiled this time as she answered, "Just some impromptu programming Cutie! Say, you want to help me? Just monitor my program so that it doesn't bleed over to affect any of your essential functions, will ya?" Lexy shook her head vigorously "Yes" while Lena's fingers became a blur as she rapidly typed her newly created program into the computer solving that problem in a matter of minutes then saying, "Done - and in record time if I do say so myself!"

Post by Volodja Uljanov on Aug 17, 2017 9:41:02 GMT
"I hope that Mr. Uljanov isn't mind that amputation will be done without anaesthesia. We don't muffle pain in my line of duty. Quite opposite. The more pain the better results, as you happen to know," said synthetic Indogene while putting his instruments to the aluminium surgical tray. He stepped backwards so he could admire the big picture of his tool layout and accidentally kicked on Volodja's sapper shovel with his heel. Shovel slid and bumped on concrete floor causing loud and unpleasant noise and made Indogene to look what was going one. Volodja tried automatically look for the noise source as well and discovered that straps, holding his his upper body were relatively loose. Probably because Indogene torturer wanted to see him scream and wriggle to get more pleasure from his "work". Volodja wasn't sure how that knowledge could become useful yet, but decided not to inform his torturer about that fact that he knows about his relatively loose ties just in case. Besides - the Indogene was occupied already. He picked the shovel up from the floor and examined it. Then he came closer again and asked: "What is this for, Mr. Uljanov?" "You armchair scientists tend to be quite...armchaired and impracticable when it comes to dealing with matters outside of your field of study," said Volodja. "This is a tool, mainly used for digging but it does have some other qualities as well." "What qualities, Mr. Uljanov?" asked Indogene who measured the shovel shaft with his glance as it was a cue stick and he was a player, checking it before decisive strike. Then he turned it around and begun to examine carefully honed shovel blade. "One of those qualities is..." said Volodja and when he actually saw where the blade was pointed he got an idea, so he repeated. "One of those qualities is...THIS!" Volodja his upper body hurled upwards as fast as possible. Volodja hit the shovel shaft with his sternum aka breastbone and screamed from pain the blow caused to it and from pain his strains caused to his arms. But even if someone happened to hear his scream they didn't paid any attention to it because they were used with constant pain cries coming from that part of the basement. According to Newton's Third Law, forces come in pairs and there is an equal and opposite reaction for every action. This means that for every force there is a reaction force that is equal in size, but opposite in direction. That is to say that whenever an object pushes another object it gets pushed back in the opposite direction equally hard. In that particular situation it meant that when Volodja hit the shovel shaft with his chest, he made it moving towards the Indogene and since the blade was at moment pointed at Indogene's soft throat, it scratched Indogene's lowered chin first and then cut his throat while Volodja was pushed backwards and fell back to the operation table. Only being to react to the scream was Ruby who couldn't stand behind when someone was obviously getting hurt and jumped into the room. She saw Erika and Volodja on tables and Indogene torturer on the floor. She also spotted shovel in his throat and slowly widening pool of blood around torturer's head. "Sometimes diplomacy has to be sharp," said Volodja grimly. "Back in Military Academy we played pre war strategy games as a part of our free time training. One of my favourites was "Total War "series. Especially medieval part. But from my point of view one thing was a bit weird. When I used a diplomat to bribe hostile armies it added dread to my faction leader, not chivalry. I just couldn't agree with that concept. How come bribing someone to join your cause and disbanding units you can't use which probably meant that men returned to their homes alive be less chivalrous act than beginning a battle and let men die on fields of glory? Saving lives or causing minimal causalities is less dreadful by my opinion. I had to depart this synth because he was about to depart parts of me slowly and painfully and probably kill me afterwards. And then do the same things to Erika. And thus prevent us stopping Skarr from causing more casualties." He wasn't sure if Ruby understood anything he said, but at least she untied Erika and him. Volodja rubbed his hurting breastbone and after making sure that Erika wasn't hurt he said: "Now we are back in heroic business, I assume. Or we can hide until everything is over. Last option sounds more reasonable, although...as long as I remember, the reason is one thing we keep ignoring." And he smiled before adding: "The heroic and unreasonable part would be starting a revolt against Skarr's regime with united forces of Votans (he bowed to Erika), Synths (and he bowed to Ruby) and humans. Do you think that three of us are able to arrange a coup? After all - Trojans let Greeks in without a need to use a horse."

Lady Christianna floated even faster toward her goal with a sudden sense of urgency. The drums she heard only in her head were now audible by ears as well.
I was not far behind Lady, still up in the tree tops, when I saw what she wandered into and heard what she was hearing.
"Behold," Exclaimed what appeared to be a high priestess, "The Spider-god has sent us a jungle nymph to show his approval of the People's sacrifice to him! "
As I listened, I mentally talked to my EGO, Dinara, and said, "Dak! If Lady knew I was here, she'd want me to do something, even though it's not our concern! Wouldn't she?!"
Dinara responded with, "Duh! So do something already!"
Lady then noticed that at the base of the pyramid structure there was a crowd of hundreds of primitive humans with upraised spears yelling, "DEE! DEE! DEE! DEE! DEE!"
Hearing the chants, I started to raise my rifle, as I communicated with DInara again. "They truly do believe this sacrifice is god-approved don't they?"
Then I lowered my rifle, as Dinara responded with, "It appears so, but you still need to save the girl. Even if it doesn't matter to you, it obviously would to the scared girl and your wife....Atty! You gotta do something quick! Look!"
I responded confidently with, "I am. As for what I am going to do, that's simple. IF they want a God, the I WILL give them one! Not a daking spider-god, but a Lightning-Bat God!"
Then I thought to myself, "Time to test the modifications Chris made to my armor to make it easier to use my 'powers' while wearing all of it!"
As I had that thought, I quickly moved to the edge of the tree cover, as I started absorbing the bio-electrical energies from the trees I was standing on and channeling it into myself, causing my aura to start feintly glowing blue.
The woman raised her dagger even further upwards before beginning it's plummet into the young girl's heart. Lady tried to scream "Stop" but no noise would issue from her fog enshrouded throat. She threw up her misty arms imploring the woman to stop but no one appeared to notice. To all appearances, the young girl on the altar was doomed.
Just then I jumped off the tree tops, pointing a hand at the knife and concetrating. As I dropped from the high trees, a lightining bolt shot from my fingertips and struck the knife, knocking it from the priestess's hand, before I landed hard on my feet. That got everybody to look my direction, and by this time I had channeled so much energy that my aura was so strong that it was causing my midnight black armor to take on a very eerie blue glow. Seeing my very ominous presence all those around dropped to their knees head down in worship to me, as I stepped towards the alter, stating very commandingly, "Who dares face the Lightning-Bat's wrath?!"
Then I shot bolts of lightening from my fingers and into the sky to make my point. Next I gestured in Lady's direction as I continued in a very demanding and feirce tone, with, "My Nymph bride and I do NOT approve of such nonsense! The Spider-devil is a mock god! He is to die!... and I only approve of blood sacrifices if they are the most monstrous around, such as the Spider-devil! Sacrifice murderers and rapists, NOT virgins, and lose all of that blasphemous bug stuff! Bats are this God's representatives! Bugs their DINNER! So let the girl go NOW or I WILL unleash my wrath on ALL of you.....Then instead you can show your true loyalties by standing AGAINST the spider-devil!"

So let the girl go NOW or I WILL unleash my wrath on ALL of you.....Then instead you can show your true loyalties by standing AGAINST the spider-devil!" As a flurry of spears flew at Atticus, Lady Christianna was confused at the advent of this new actor on the stage. Her mind was as foggy as her form. When Lady was in mist form, she lost all conception of self and personal memories were equally dim. She had instinctively gone immaterial to avoid the crash of the airship Vigilant then shifted further to ghost form when the giant centipedes attacked. However as a Harbinger of Life she had been drawn to the intense human emotions surrounding the human sacrifice ceremony. On the way through the jungle to the ritual she had slowly transformed into the mist form that made her more an unthinking force of nature than an intelligent Castithan teenage girl. Still deep inside the mist was the spark of life that was Lady Christianna and that mind tried to make sense of Atticus' performance and this talk of Gods and sacrifices. This Bat-God looked familiar but then so did the primitive tribe's high priestess despite the mask. In one swift move the jungle priestess swooped up her large dagger undamaged from Atticus' lightening bolt then leaped upon the altar, her long blond hair flowing around the bug visage of her mask as she exclaimed pointing one tan hand towards Atticus, "The Spider-God commands the People to kill the infidel! I hear the Spider-Gods orders clearly! The Bat-God is no God, just a man who would be a hero!" Lady noticed the large sacrificial dagger turn white hot as the High Priestess nimbly leap off the altar and grabbed a vine hanging from the surrounding jungle canopy swinging towards Atticus and slamming into him knocking him to the ground. The High Priestess straddled his chest using both hands to stab the dagger into the neck joint between his helmet and the rest of his armor. The crowd of primitive humans rose as one grabbing spears, clubs, and other makeshift weapons in preparation of attacking Atticus as well. Although she wasn't sure of her "self", Lady was sure the needless taking of life was wrong. She had interrupted the death rite in hopes of saving the young native girl who was their sacrifice and with this mysterious Bat-God's help she had been successful. Now she felt on a visceral level that she must help him survive even if it cost her something more precious to her than her life - her very identity! Lady would have to try something she had never tried before. Rather than just moving her molecules to make her substance less dense she would now try to alter the very structure of her body's atoms. Lady stretched out her mist form to cover the whole clearing in a white fog that encompassed both the two fighters and the surging crowd of armed natives. With great effort and a strong will, Lady altered the fog to become an halothane vapour or in other words, a sleeping gas. To a man, the primitive villagers immediately dropped to the ground unconscious however the two fighters appeared unaffected and didn't even notice that the surrounding mist had turned color from white to green as Lady's dim memories disappeared completely one by one.

Volodja Uljanov asserted, "Now we are back in heroic business, I assume. After all - Trojans let Greeks in without a need to use a horse." A slight smile formed on Erika Widowmaker's full lips as she replied, "First we need to arm ourselves - with hopefully more than a shovel. Although you seem quite adept at its use, I would feel better with my Magnum or a similar weapon in my hand. Then I think we should make our way to the dungeon in search of Chancellor Cael. If we are to foment a revolution among this nation's people it would help to have their former democratically elected leader among our numbers. Even if we don't find him there we may find others who could help our cause." Erika didn't mention the obvious: That Cael was her first-born child and she was worried about him as only a mother can be when not knowing if their child was alive or dead. She didn't have long to ponder her son's predicament though for the young Synth Envoy Ruby suddenly grabbed her raven haired head in both small hands shaking it from side to side before issuing an ear piercing shriek. Ruby then turned her silvery blue eyes to her right outstretched hand with a look of horror as her red scythe-gun built itself out of her hand. Ruby backed away from Erika and Volodja now holding her scythe firmly in both trembling hands saying in a broken voice as she looked up at them, "I-I'm sorry! I can't control myself... you need to run... NOW... please!"

Lady noticed the large sacrificial dagger turn white hot as the High Priestess nimbly leap off the altar and grabbed a vine hanging from the surrounding jungle canopy swinging towards Atticus and slamming into him knocking him to the ground.
As the fog thickened my aura became a very Dark blue as I angrily shoved the priestess off of me HARD growling, "Get the hell off of me Dee! Yes I know who you are! Why wouldn't I, I'm Batman! You are Dee, Sandy Bell's Synthetic doppelganger and Skarr is no god! He is a devilish synth hybrid that is controlling and manipulating you! So back the fuck off! And if something happens to Lady or Erika because of YOUR stupidity, then I WILL kill you for I am NO hero! I am just a being that does what must be done!"
Then I grabbed Dee's collarbone and channeled some energy into her at just the right frequency to paralyze her from the neck down. Once that was done, I grabbed Dee by the neck and applied some pressure, revealing that I would indeed kill her if I felt it worth my time. As I saw what could be fear in her eyes, I tried to focus my excess energies into Lady's locket, as I sensed Lady was very weak. As I did so, I addressed the fog around us. I said in as loving a tone as I had ever used towards Lady, but still very stern, "Lady, Yang! This is Atticus! Your Yin! The Harbinger of Death to your Harbinger of Life! Whatever you are doing, stop now! The girl is safe and things are under control here! So come back to me!"
As I talked to 'the fog'(Lady), my aura started to quickly fade and lighten into a bright white signifying the pull of my wild instincts struggling to take control, and I squeezed Dee's neck harder in my growing anger. However even as I was feeling myself surrendering to my instinctually wild (and sometimes beastly) side, the still fairly newfound humanity that Lady's love had nurtured in me, managed to get me to release Dee from my death grip and drop her, still paralyzed, on the ground but also still alive for now.

"I'd appreciate if you kindly step as far as possible from Dee," said familiar voice. "I'd prefer that you keep your words and deeds closely together, not apart. Since Dee is manipulated and controlled, hurting or threatening her is a damn wrong thing to do. It won't help you any further on your path and it would definitely upset our people who care about Dee. And since our people from nine tribes surrounded you, you would not last very long if we attack. I am sure that you are able to kill loot of us because you are tough like a rock but at the end we will flood you like a river." Tall man stepped out from jungle. Although he wore only waist cloth and held a club he definitely looked like Volodja Uljanov. "We don't desert our loved ones. Even if they get lost we try to lead them back to us. I think that this is our common ground where we can carry on our negotiations." Suddenly an Indian appeared by his side and whispered something into his ear. Volodja smiled and nodded to him and said couple of words which brought grin to Indian's bronzelike face. Then he disappeared into the jungle again. Indian returned soon enough but this time he wasn't alone but brought several people with him - other Indians and a Votan girl and a human male. Latter were Atika Constantine and Marcel Lestrange who were captured soon after moment when Marcel reached out his tanned hand and pulled Atika out from the hole in the ground as easily as she was a radish. Now they were delivered to others. "Listen, Tarzan boy..." begun Marcel and then his face and eyes became a bit less blank as they used to be when he saw whom he was talking to. "How did you..?" "Oh. It's you, Marcel," said Volodja's look a like. "I am not Volodja if you are thinking that. I used to be him indeed, until our lives parted. From that point we both have separate lives and I am Lodja now. Technically I am Volodja's synthetic Doppelganger who found a new home in these rain forests but ever since we got separated we both have lived different lives. I stayed here to protect the forest and anyone who considers it their home. So did Dee. And those other Synths who prefer freedom." Lodja smiled sadly and added: "We are experiencing difficulties right now. Someone is trying to get control over our synthetic people, including me. I have managed to resist any attempts to take over my mind, because..." He sighed and added: "I am a failed project after all. A prototype who was created to replace original humans or Votans by completely acquiring their personal profiles. But they made me to be way too good at that and I actually became them. Ever since I became Volodja Uljanov, I decided to remain to be him if he gives me permission and so he did. Since I know how it feels to change from one person to other I have learned to appreciate what I am right now and also learned to protect my Volodja based mind from takeover attempts." His face brightened for a brief moment when his ears caught Marcel's muttered remark about even one Volodja being one too many, not to mention two Volodja's. Then he became serious again and he continued with sadness in his face and his voice: "But I failed to protect others for sure....That is why I am here. I was searching for Dee in a hope to bring her back to us, to me and free her from Skarr's influence by convincing her that she still has her free will and strength to find it again because I love her...Yes. I am not embarrassed to tell you that. Now it looks like that I found you as well. So let me ask - what are you doing here? And where is Volodja?" _________ Meanwhile in the dungeon, far from jungle, excavating from a mine Erika Widowmaker and Volodja Uljanov examined Synth girl Ruby and her fight for self control. Volodja's mind created quite an irrelevant link to the heritage of the world's literature and compared the situation with one in "The Pit and the Pendulum", except the protagonist was alone and tied up unlike them, and the pendulum was mechanical, so there wasn't any chance to convince it to stop. But Ruby wasn't a soulless machine (at least in Volodja's eyes), so he gave it a try by saying: "Ruby! I am quite sure that you don't want to do it because you have mind of your own and you resisting that command, given to you. Why? Because you are not a machine but personality and you shouldn't let them put you down, push you around and change your personal point of view...I do wish that you would listen to me, because I would like us to succeed on reinstating the pre-Skarr situation so I can go home and kiss my wife."

Post by Lena Marr on Aug 20, 2017 1:09:28 GMT
On the bridge of the crashed Vigilant, Lena Marr smiled wickedly as a look of self satisfaction crossed her beautiful chalk white face as she remarked aloud to Sandy Bell, "That one-of-a-kind Lena approved program should do everything you want and then some. Now it's up to Mr. Constantine here, Cap'n! Now it's Marcel time! Get it! Instead of saying it's Miller time I said it's Marcel time! Either way, I'm getting drunk - just with Pooh Bear I'm getting drunk on love... and love making! Don't want to forget the toe-curling, backbreaking, breathtaking, over-the-top, mind blowing, Kama Sutra expanding lovemaking!"
Sandy's blue eyes grew wide asking incredulously, "No one told you?"
Lena cocked a snow white eyebrow over her unblinking sky blue eyes as she queried suspiciously, "Told me what?"
Sandy sighed her eyes downcast as she gathered her thoughts before looking up locking her eyes with Lena's before saying grimly, "Commander Batman took your Marcel and my Volodja on ATVs as one of several search teams looking for his wife and two of the Synth Sisters who were missing after we crashed. Their team and one other became missing and Lexy informed me that something is blocking our scanning attempts to find them. We did get a message to the other rescue teams and they are searching for them as we speak so just be patient and stay put."
Lena tilted her head causing her white tresses to fly in an appealing way as she had her EGO psyche scan for her lover Marcel Lestrange aboard the Vigilant and in the immediate surrounding confines but Hope's search only confirmed what Sandy had told Lena so Lena pouted as she exclaimed,"Hmmmph! Not likely!"
Crossing her armored arms tightly across her chest Lena stormed off the Bridge then blurred to the cargo bay where the Vigilant's ATVs were stored promptly stealing one and driving it off the Vigilant. Lena's Ego psyche Hope had no idea which way Lena should go, but all of the other voices in her head representing the seven deadly sins kept her headed in one particular direction. Call it women's intuition, beginner's luck, or a mad person's second sight but for some reason Lena was on the right track and soon ran into where Marcel and Volodja Uljanov's ATV's were hidden. Lena found their foot prints tracking Marcel and Volodja to the clearing where there was a battle with junkbots finding ample evidence of who won. She lost Volodja's tracks at the wreckage of a Black Matter portal but didn't really care as long as she could still find Marcel's which she did almost immediately.
Lena followed Marcel's trail, not happy to see where a rope had been used so someone could climb out of a ravine and that from the imprints at the top it was a woman. Lena smelled the rope and caught the faint scent of rare Mongolian tea leaves that were familiar to her. The young Irathiant Atika Constantine had given her a cup of tea of the same kind once. Lena's mood quickly brightened when she found both had been captured by a large group of barefoot men. Lena reasoned that as long as Marcel and Atika were captured she couldn't be trying to show her gratitude at being saved by seducing Marcel.
Lena smiled wickedly thinking, "I know my Pooh Bear is true to me but... Atika is an exotic vixen and men are.. well men! Sometimes a their little heads rule their big ones! They are after all the weaker sex. Furthermore he's French and the French have a reputation for being great lovers which means bigger libidos - and my Pooh Bear is definitely French with a humongous sex drive as I know for a fact! Marcel is such a handsome man so I couldn't blame her if she tried to seduce him! Still... even if she didn't, but just in case, that pretty temptation has to go! I'm still going to have to kill her! Pity, she made a good cup of tea."
Lena tracked Marcel and Atika as they were led as prisoners through the jungle. As she expertly tracked them, the part of her mind where her imagination dwelled picturing Marcel and Atika in various sexual positions with Atika squealing and Marcel grunting in pleasure until they ended their passionate rendezvous with a sensual kiss and Marcel's proclamation of undying love to Atika. When she started to hear voices Lena shook the images out of her head as she took to the trees, using her EGO's stealth and her agility to follow them out of sight in the jungle canopy. She saw the tail-end of Dee's fight with Atticus Batman and she watched the Volodja lookalike confront the winner. She had Hope turn up the volume in her EGO so she could hear their conversation where she was hidden in a high tree.
Lodja smiled sadly and said, "We are experiencing difficulties right now. I am not embarrassed to tell you that. Now it looks like that I found you as well. So let me ask - what are you doing here? And where is Volodja?"
Lena took out a spyglass and careful examined from afar the paralyzed Synth at Atticus Batman's feet and smiled when she saw something about her that only a skilled nano-electrician would notice. Lena put her spyglass back into the belt pouch she had taken it from just as her cloak ran out, then glanced to both sides seeking a way down and spotting a nearby vine. Lena jumped off the tree limb she had been perched on grabbing the vine and with a Tazan yell nimbly swung down to the group below landing next to Dee's body and Atticus and Lodja with both her hands up palms forward.
Lena thumped the chest piece of her blue armor with one fist announcing, "Lena comes in peace - also in war by the way or really any time or place! By the way, did any of you handsome hunks notice that the mask on jungle girl here is rigged with Synth and Votan micro-tech. It's also made of plastique and rigged to blow up if someone tries to take it off who doesn't know what they are doing. Lucky for you I know what I'm doing! Give me your prisoners and I'll free your girlfriend Chief, easy peasey! What do you say, we got a deal?"
Lord Lodja nodded his assent and Lena knelt at the synth woman's side. She took out a set of tools from another belt pouch on her armor that she quickly unwrapped from their velvet cloth covering. Placing the small tools on the soft cloth in the order she needed next to her, Lena then worked around the mask clockwise gently prying it from the lovely synth girl's face. Still several wires were attached from the mask to her temples and her chin. When the bug mask was off, the people watching Lena could see all sorts of green glowing circuitry in the inside of the mask.
Dee started to say something but Lena shook her head while putting a chalk white forefinger to the Synth girl's lips silencing her. The girl's blue eyes looked frightened but to her credit she lay still as a statue even though the paralysis had worn off. Lena worked carefully as the green circuits blinked to red one by one until only red lights were on in the mask's interior. Once that was done Lena detached the wires attached to Dee's face before collecting her tools and standing up.
Oddly enough, there was no sweat on Lena's face despite the stressful situation and the jungle's heat only a wicked grin as she announced, "All clear! You're free to go jungle girl."
Dee quickly jumped up throwing her arms around Lord Lodja kissing him passionately looking like the cover of a romantic novel before falling to one knee at his feet with a bowed blond head declaring, "Forgive me my betrayal Lord! My behavior was shameful leading the People to worship a false God! Governor Skarr's minions captured me and put that awful mask on me forcing me to do things I would not do willingly but that is no excuse for my horrid behavior. I was weak and failed you and your subjects as a Champion of the People. I prostrate myself before you awaiting my just execution!"
Lena's beautiful chalk white face twisted into an expression of "What the Hell?" but it was soon replaced with her normal impassive visage as she shrugged her shoulders thinking "none of my business" and remarking, "Sounds like you guys have some issues to work through so I'll leave you to it. I'll just collect my prisoners!"
Lena smiled a Cheshire cat's grin as she sashayed to Marcel pressing her soft lush lips to his kissing him hard before turning on a dime and in one smooth move drawing both her Bowie knives and thrusting them against the young Irathiant woman's soft red clay colored neck yelling, "Atika Constantine, how dare you think you can take my man! Seven out of eight of the voices in my head say slice your throat now and ask questions later but... give me one good reason why I shouldn't give you two more mouths you tea making two timing floozy!"
All the while, Lady Christianna drifted aimlessly further into the jungle leaving rare pink flowers in her wake.

I interrupted and said, "Dee is alive, as is the young girl that she tried to sacrifice! As for my path, it doesn't matter for it is destined to always take detours and I will die when and if Death decides it. So your own threats don't matter either!"
Lena took out a spyglass and careful examined from afar the paralyzed Synth at Atticus Batman's feet and smiled when she saw something about her that only a skilled nano-electrician would notice. Seven out of eight of the voices in my head say slice your throat now and ask questions later but... give me one good reason why I shouldn't give you two more mouths you tea making two timing floozy!"
Atika stood her ground, as she responded in her strong Mongolian accent with, "I am NOT some floozy! And I most definitely do NOT want your man! Mister Lestrange may be many things, but one of those things is NOT the man for me! My heart belongs to only one man and that man is Attila!"
Her cheeks reddened slightly from her forced confession and she was sure she saw shock in people's eyes. However she decided she had nothing to be embarrassed about. So she confidently and passionately continued with, "You heard me right! My twin-flame is the ONLY man for me! So kindly take those blades away from my neck Miss Marr! If you MUST stick somebody with them, then save it for Skar! That nasty creature kidnapped Ruby and Erika!"
All the while, Lady Christianna drifted aimlessly further into the jungle leaving rare pink flowers in her wake.
As Atika stood up to Lena I glared at them slightly and when I heard mention of Erika being kidnapped, my aura flared bright white again as I turned to Lodja and snapped, "You have Dee back thanks to Lena and as you obviously know Skarr is somehow able to manipulate other Synths so we really do have a common enemy. That also explains why we are back in Brazil. Skarr is holding Chancellor Cael somewhere and we have come to rescue him. However thanks to his various attempts to stop us we crashed and lost some of our crew. That includes my wife, and she is not herself lately. Something you obviously know well! As for Volodja, I have no clue! The last time I saw him, he and Marcel had both headed to investigate a disturbance, while I went to find my wife and our other two missing people! Both of which as Synth and as far as I know, safely back on the Vigilant where Volodja's new wife, Sandy, is in charge until I return....which I will only do once my wife is back at my side! So you need to ask Marcel where the wanderer may have gone because I do not have the slightest idea. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go find Lady and then I need to go save my sister and nephew from that spider-devil...and then exterminate him ruthlessly!"
I then knelt down by some rare pink flowers and examined them, with my EGO registering that they were indeed covered in Lady's bio-electrical signature, as well as verifying that they were indeed left by Lady, like the ones I had followed here. After doing that and determining the direction they led, I stood back up as I said to Lodja, "What you do about your people is your call but mine need to return to the Vigilant so they can go save the rest of our crew. However any help you choose to give them...or me, would be appreciated."
As I had talked to Lodja, I was staring in the direction that Lady's flower trail led, very anxious to follow her since all my instincts urged me to go to her and win her heart back immediately before I go DESTROY Skarr and save my sister, who I knew would be able to handle herself until I could find her, if needed.
Not likely!"
Crossing her armored arms tightly across her chest Lena stormed off the Bridge. Meanwhile Attila quickly started examining and then using the program that Lena had created for him.
After a few minutes Attila said, "Sandy, the engines surprisingly only need minimal repairs. However those can be done in the air. Also while Lena was working on the program, Lexy and I had been going over the ship's sensors and we noticed that for awhile Atticus's EGO was detected by our sensors. Upon further examination, it appears that when we could detect him, he was above the jungle canopy. However once he dropped below the canopy we lost his signal again. So Lexy and I are both certain that once we get back into the air, and above the canopy, we will once again have full use of our ship sensors."
