"Well, it's obviously a rental runner, so I don't think the DNA scan will tell us much as there's a lot of various DNA traces on it from its previous users." Em Dash, Taffer's EGO psyche, concluded as he and Griffov were examining his ATV. She used Vigilant's holo emitters to become visible to others and make them hear her voice.
"Let me do the thinking part and leave thinking to me," Taffer replied. "Where's the most prominent concentration of pheromones?"
"On wheels. In fact, on wheel-hubs," Dash informed as her holographic image crawled around the ATV.
"Good. Now let's see what that could mean," Taffer said, pointing at stains on the wheel-hub, "Isn't it a braking fluid leaking?"
"I can confirm it's exactly a braking fluid," Em Dash replied. "The leak is not strong enough to cause the brakes to malfunction, but it still needs to be repaired… Wait, the fluid has a lot of pheromones in it!" Em Dash exclaimed as Taffer opened the brake master cylinder reservoir to check the fluid level.
"How quaint," Taffer shook his head, "Every time you hit the brake, your ATV leaves a tasty trace for any docile hellbug around. I guess not many arkhunters were examining their rented ATV's breaks so closely so they could leave any DNA traces o the system. So let's see if we can find any special DNA samples on those places."
"I'm detecting one Sensoth DNA which belongs to Tork Mok and another one which belongs to an unknown Castitan," Dash reported.
"Tork is out of the question," Taffer said. "I highly doubt he would do such a thing. He's just often occupied with repairing and servicing various runners and rollers, so it's no surprise his samples could be found everywhere. That unknown Castithan though — could it be our unfortunate Havph?"
"Negative," Dash replied, "I've already checked his DNA in our database and it's not him who possibly tampered with the braking system."
"Let's try another way," Taffer continued, "Griffov, how do you think, did Varus know you're going to meet us soon and did he personally offered this particular ATV to you?"

Post by Lena Marr on Jun 23, 2016 6:55:12 GMT
After another bout of love making with Marcel Lestrange, Lena Marr left her clothes on the floor, kicking them from in front of their quarters door with one dainty chalk white foot before skipping back to the closet to see what other clothes might be there, saying cheerfully over her shoulder, "Okay, so if we are going to seduce Belle - I mean BJ - to the dark side, better have a more professional looking outfit than the last one, especially if she is anything like the original. GOT to be more subtle than my usual style - here it is, and Omega Recon outfit, and it will go just PERFECTLY with my Passionate Blast Rifle and Eternal Wolfhound I picked up in the armory. Shows my curves, which aren't ruined visually by the ironclad shield within! However... this helmet that goes with it is positively hideous and would ruin my do, so out it goes!" Marcel ducked as the Omega Recon helmet careened out of the closet, ricocheting several times before settling on the floor, as Lena exclaimed, "Oops, sorry Pooh Bear! Got caught up in the moment!" then she exited the closet, striking a pose and sporting her wicked grin on her pretty Castithan face, proclaiming, "Ta DA! Lethal Lena is ready to save both the day and damsels in distress!" Like all the outfits Lena chose to wear, this one did not leave much to the imagination, for even though it completely covered her from neck to toe, it was skin tight in most places. Unlike most of her outfits though, the Omega Recon had some practical application being made of a thin Kevlar mesh, with the skin tight design being so the wearer could crawl through tight places and was a dark color to make one blend into the shadows better. None of that mattered to Lena, for if it looked good, and more importantly made her look good while suiting her purpose of the moment, then she was happy. As Marcel lit a cigarette and looked her up and down appreciatively, Lena dumped the picnic basket of exotic food and wines that Ralph the Cook had collected for them onto the bed, then searching through the items, putting a bottle of Riesling wine and some select fruits, french bread, and cheeses back into the picnic basket. "Now this may be the part neither of us like - parting with some of our delicacies," Lena remarked, then turned to him with a mischievous glint in her unblinking sky blue eyes, "But what kind of Greeks would we be if we didn't come bearing gifts! Like a small straw Trojan Horse, this basket is our way into the boudoir of our soon-to-be victim - I mean colleague!" Lena smiled broadly and held the basket like some futuristic red riding hood off to see her grandmother, then hurried to the door leading out of their quarters saying, "Greed, my EGO psyche of the hour, has located BJ's room from the ship's registry," Then Lena stopped and giggled, saying with a smirk, "BJ! I just got it! The initials I mean... I guess that means we better not BLOW this JOB! Get it! Oh well, nobody gets my jokes." Lena and Marcel left their quarters then went down the hall where BJ had been assigned hers, where Lena knocked loudly on the door, shouting, "Welcome wagon! Hope your're decent!" "Although not THAT decent," Lena whispered in an aside to Marcel just before the door opened. BJ, already decked out in her Liberty Trooper armor, her beautiful freckled face beaming at the prospect of having guests, for she was just sitting all alone on her bed waiting to be called to the mission briefing, with only her forlorn thoughts of her lost love Vo Kshaa to keep her company, so she welcomed the diversion as she welcomed the guests, greeting them pleasantly, "Well, I'll be darned! I don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting this handsome gentleman, but I couldn't forget the pretty girl I pulled out of the insides of that big varmint! What brings y'all to my neck of the woods?" Lena flashed her wicked smile and said sweetly with fake sincerity, "This is Marcel Lestrange, my significant other, and I'm Lena Marr, in case you didn't catch my name in the heat of the moment. I just wanted to thank the gal-pal that saved my hide, so here is a token of our gratitude," Instead of handing the basket of goodies to BJ, she bustled past her putting it on the coffee table of the small sitting area in BJ's cabin, spreading it's contents out before making herself comfortable on the love-seat next to it, asking, "You don't mind if we join you, do you? It is just sooooo boring waiting for these mission briefings. These Protectors just like to talk, talk, talk! As independent contractors, Marcel and I believe in just going in, doing the job, and then celebrating and having fun after we've won the day." Still standing at the door, BJ replied, "Ummm, no please, ya'll make yourselves comfortable! There are some clean water glasses in the bathroom, but I'm afraid I don't have a cork screw!" "That's okay," Remarked Lena whose wicked smile grew bigger, "Marcel always carries one, because you never know when you might need to screw something - cork screw I mean of course." A red blush crept up BJ's swan like neck into her freckled cheeks as her diamond blue eyes blinked several times, not sure how to take what Lena said, then closed the door after Marcel entered and joined Lena on the love-seat, whereupon BJ said, "I'll get the glasses y'all!" When BJ returned, the ladies talked small talk while Marcel opened the wine and poured a glass for each of them, when Lena dramatically grabbed one of Bj's pale hands with both of her chalk white ones and remarked with false concern, "I just heard the news! That you've renamed yourself BJ and that your body is that of a synthetic. I think it's a crying shame that they made you change your name and all. Knowing Vo, I bet he did't take it well either. Just know, you can be whoever you want to be with us, and though others may be bigoted against those of the synthetic variation, you can always count on Marcel and me to be your friends, no matter what!" "Ummm, thank ya'll," BJ said pulling her hand away from Lena's, and taking a sip of wine, "But I was the one who decided to call myself BJ - you know, just until Vo and the others realize I'm really Belle and can accept me for who I am - Belle Starr, warts and all!" Lena leaned back into the chair in a languid manner, asserting, "Well, just so you know, you're Belle to us and always will be, but we'll call you BJ if you like. Unlike some others, like I said, we'll be your friends no matter what." As BJ took another sip of wine and stared off into space as she thought about what Lena said, Lena turned to Marcel and winked at him with the one sky blue eye that BJ could not see from where she sat.

Marcel Lestrange took BJ's pale hand into his palm when she was about to shake his hand and put a kiss on it in most pseudo gallant way to confuse their object of interest and make her more impressionable for their attraction attempts. Then he caught Lena's wink and decided to help Lena on her tough mission than kissing Synth's hand and playing a gentleman, so he revealed two rows perfect white teeth in a smile and added: "We stand for equal opportunities for everyone in our little but steadily growing enterprise - humans, Votans and dare I say, other forms of intelligent life are treated equally, no matter where they come from and everyone receives payment according to their contribution and initiative. Just like...(Marcel let set of Volodja Uljanov's boring lectures through his mind until he found suitable example)...Henry Ford did. In his company even janitor could raise into the position of the head of some department if that janitor was competent and willing. Just like old Henry Ford, we have an eye to spot a talent and encourage it by giving the talent the chance to grow." Marcel added some touch of sincerity to his speech to make himself more believable. It was actually easy for him because he was truly proud of Lena and himself: "Lena and I have seen really hard times, but we have worked hard to put that behind us and succeed in life and now we want to offer that opportunity for others as well." Marcel knew that good gardener treats the soil when planting seeds and since his beloved Lena intended to grow some Les Fleurs du mal (the Flowers of Evil), he wanted to help by fertilizing the soil, so seeds she just planted could germinate, so he continued: "Our reputation of being so called bad guys is greatly exaggerated. If we were totally evil, then we would not be here after all. We might use more...how to say...unconventional methods, but that does not prevent Paradise Protectors from using our help. Mademoiselle BJ - even I have worked with some Protectors, like Volodja Uljanov, before and he can not say a bad word about me...or Lena, because despite of so called trouble, we have supposedly caused to them, we have done more for Protectors than they have done for us. At least when we look back our history together. And when to think about it then nobody would use a help from troublemakers. But we have helped these Protectors more than once already. And that means sort of approval and acceptance of our approach to order of things. And as Lena just said - we are not...how to say it in English? Merde!...snobbish about our friends. Everyone who wants can be our friend, no matter what. Just as Lena said."

After I left the conference room, I returned to the Bridge to make sure all the preparations were going well. Then I eventually started scanning the data-stick that Lena gave me. While I was scanning it, the Constantines came into the bridge to check in. Shortly after, Lexy informed me that Lady and everyone else that was scheduled to go with us had boarded. So I told Tasha Yar to prep for launch. Shortly after the final launch preparation was started, Kaj came onto the bridge to take over his Captain duties. So as the Vigilant left the hangar and started it's ascent into the sky with Kaj commanding the Vigilant crew, I notified the team that it was time for the mission briefing and that it would be in the Officer's conference room.
However Taffer was still in the cargo bay with Griffov Kimmel going over Kimmel's ATV for clues, so I told Taffer that he and Kimmel could listen in through the crew briefing channel and join us on the Bridge as soon as they were done with their investigation. I also informed him of the data-stick that Lena had given me and that I was currently going through it and already found some interesting things on the Dark Matter Specs of our ship that Lexy doesn't even know about or currently have access to. However I felt that information was best discussed in person. Kaj would of course also be listening, through the crew briefing channel as he would be busy on the Bridge. When everyone else had finally arrived in the Officer's Conference room just off the Bridge where I was already waiting, I started the briefing. "Alright first we have two new members of the team. The first is Griffov Kimmel, who is with Taffer in the cargo bay still investigating his vehicle and they are listening in through our crew briefing channel, so Taffer can add to this briefing as needed. The next is BJ Starr."
As the ones who didn't know the information yet, looked at me curiously, I continued with, "Yes BJ Starr. We have evidence that she is not Belle Starr but a Synthetic human brainwashed to believe that she is Belle. My opinion is that as she has proven to be sentient she is to be treated with the same respect and understanding that we insist everybody here be treated with. So she, like most of you, IS considered part of our big family. It is good to see you again BJ. If you need anything just let us know. I will also have our ship's AI, Lexy update your EGO with a map of the Vigilant so you can find your way around. Her Avatar is that cute little girl on Lady's lap.
Now on to the mission. We have also learned that Belle may be held in Skarr's base in Alaska. So this is a rescue mission to save her, and we kept it all secret until after take-off to help prevent Skarr from learning of our plans in advance, that way he will not know to expect us. While we are there we will of course try to get any information on the Skarrs and their plans that we can, so we can stop whatever world takeover plans they are working on this time. We will also Help BJ get any information that we can find on her, if she wants us to and will of course delete it from Skarr's database, so he can not try to take away her freedom.
At the moment we are planning on splitting the away team into two groups. With Taffer leading an infiltration team to find all the information they can on what Skarr is planning while they find Belle's location, and it sounds like BJ will be his second.
The other team which will be led by me, with Vo as my Second, will do a frontal assault and go through the front door. Our primary focus will be to take out any main opposition and keep the security distracted, while Taffer's team infiltrates the base from a different entrance. Once they are in, they are to locate a computer to access the base's security information so their team will be able to disable any automatic security measures. From their they will scan the databases for Belle's location, and any other information. Once that is done, and Taffer has informed us of Belle's location, then his team will proceed to that location to save her. Once my team has handled the main forces, we will enter the base and head to the location from where we are. As the Vigilant's Commander, Kaj will stay onboard and will use it to provide cover fire during the assault if needed. While they scan they area and keep any reinforcements they discover at bay.
Before any of you ask, no the two teams' member lists have not been fully decided yet. So if you want to be on a specific team, then make sure to let Taffer know before we get to our destination so we can take your preference into consideration, as we will make the final team assignments, after we land. Taffer, feel free to interject here if any of my information was wrong, or if I left anything out......For those of you that are new, you are about to learn that this is also where the outspoken people usually speak up with their opinions and observations, while I try not to get overly-agitated with them!"
After Kaj finally finished going over everything that the Engineering staff wanted to discuss with him, He left Engineering to continue his busy list of tasks. As he finished them, he was notified by Tasha that all were aboard and Commander Batman ordered her to start final take-off preparations if the Vigilant was ready. Kaj told her that all was indeed ready, so she started launch preparations. As the Bridge crew finished going over all final launch preparations, Kaj entered the Bridge. So Commander Batman turned command of the Vigilant over to Kaj.
Shortly after the Vigilant took to the sky and headed on their way, following Volodja's and Lexy's flight plans, the Protector team started filing into the Officer's Conference Room for the team briefing where Atticus was already waiting. As Kaj was busy commanding his ship and crew, he listened in on the proper channel through his communication implants.
After cleaning up and helping security clean up and secure the compound, The Constantines went to their quarters, to get cleaned up. Then when they got the notification that there was to be another mission and they were to board the Vigilant, if they chose to go on the mission, they quickly went to the main hangar and checked in with Sandy. Once that was done, and she told them to make sure they requisitioned cold-weather gear for the mission, the went and requisitioned warm gear. Then they boarded the Vigilant and went to the quarters that Kaj had assigned to them previously. After getting their stuff re-settled, they went to the Mess for a quick bite to eat. As they were finishing the sandwiches that the Mess staff had handed them, they got the notification that they were to report to the Officer's conference room. So they had their EGOs direct them to the Officer's Conference room, which turned out to be right off the Bridge. Shortly after they had entered and sat down, Atticus started his briefing, which they quietly listened to.

Post by Sandy Bell on Jun 23, 2016 16:01:27 GMT
Sitting next to her beloved Volodja, Sandy Bell watched her team mates file into the officer's conference room on the Vigilant for the mission briefing, a bit surprised to see BJ walk in with Lena Marr, chatting in a way-too-friendly manner for her like, with Marcel Lestrange following in his usual arrogant and sullen manner. She squeezed Volodja's hand to get his attention, then pointed her chin at the trio with her tanned chin, her blue eyes widening to indicate to him that this might be trouble. Sandy saw that Lady Christianna was already there when she entered with the little girl hologram of the Vigilant's AI sitting happily on her lap, sitting next to her husband, Commander Atticus Batman, who had called this meeting. Sandy nodded in recognition to Kaj and the Constantines as they came in and after everyone who could attend the meeting was there, the bridge grew quiet when Atticus Batman rose to address them.
As Atticus began his briefing, she also noted that BJ visibly winced when he introduced her followed by saying, "We have evidence that she is not Belle Starr but a Synthetic human brainwashed to believe that she is Belle," but Sandy gave BJ credit for not interrupting with the denials that were obvious on her beautiful freckled face and in her diamond blue eyes. However, when Atticus called out the teams and made BJ Taffer's second to his leadership of the infiltration team, it was Sandy's turn to wince in mental pain. Sandy had felt she had proven herself an able second in South America, even able to infiltrate the enemy's hideout by herself to save the kidnapped Volodja. Furthermore, she was replaced as Taffer's second by the synth copy of Belle Starr whose loyalties Sandy was still not sure of, and Sandy felt it was like a slap in the face. However, Sandy didn't say anything after Atticus had finished his soliloquy, feeling in her heart of hearts that she was the "outspoken" one the he was referring to also, so she bit her lower lip hard, keeping her doubts to herself and acting as she felt any good grunt would - keeping her yap shut and following her superior officer's orders, wherever and whatever they may be.
For BJ's part, after answering her introduction with a warm smile and a small wave of her manicured pale hand to the crowd, her big blue diamond eyes were riveted to Vo Kshaa for the rest of the briefing as her smile melted away. BJ was having a hard time dealing with the fact that he not only didn't return her love, but wanted to have nothing to do with her. Her EGO had intercepted Vo's message to Taffer when it picked up the words "synth girl", and transmitted it automatically to her although she wished it hadn't. She knew now that Vo had specifically asked to not be assigned to any team she was on, and that hurt her deeply.
"Once a heart is broken, how can it break further? Does the pain EVER stop?" BJ thought to herself, wishing for once that she had an EGO psyche like everyone else seemed to have that she could talk to about it, even if it meant a slower access to the EGO powers she wielded.
Never one to miss an opportunity, Lena saw the sad look on the synthetic girl's face, so with a wicked grin grabbed BJ's pale hand with her's, giving it a quick squeeze of what Lena hoped would be taken for as encouragement, then leaned over and whispered in BJ's ear, "He's not worth your time, baby! There are plenty of fish in the sea, some even perhaps as handsome and grand a catch as my man Marcel, so don't you give that Irathian trash fish a second thought!"
BJ turned and graced Lena with a quick smile, then looked back at Vo wistfully, still hoping she could turn back time, which in her memories they were best friends and true lovers, and he was her one and only Prince Charming.
For Lena's part, when Atticus asked if there were any team assignment preferences, she raised her chalk white hand straight up, waving it vigorously like a schoolgirl who is excited that she has the answer to the teacher's question, asking sweetly with her wicked grin on full strength, "Ohhhh, Commander Atticus sir, me and Marcel want to be on BJ's team, pretty please... with chocolate frosting and candy sprinkles on it!"

Post by Taffer on Jun 24, 2016 21:06:30 GMT
"What a wonderful team I'll have this time!" Taffer thought as Atticus explained the main line-up and people started to voice their preferences. "I'll have a synth girl created by our enemies about which we still have no idea on when her programming will backfire against us, a couple also known as Deadly Duo who have their own bone to pick with Belle. Next, there will be a newcomer who has just come to this continent but already has someone to frame him for an attack on our base. If I believed in it, now would be a good time for me to wish for luck."
He didn't say his concerns out loud because he thought the team could rather use something more constructive so he said,
"I don't bother searching if someone from the past already said that nor I'm going to register my rights on what I'm going to say if they didn't, but those who have won the battle tend to prepare for the next battle similar to what they just won, and those who lost are preparing for the battle they are going to win. Last time we used the tactics of two teams with one doing a frontal assault and the other one sneaking in quietly, and it worked. But that doesn't guarantee it will work this time. They might not expect us to attack them so soon, but that doesn't write off the possibility that the sneaky team might face difficulties which could pose unacceptable delay to its advance. What I'm trying to say is that Batman's team can easily become the main team to find Belle and stop whatever plans Skarr and his twin has for her and that facility with our sneaky team working actually as a decoy to keep our enemies busy.
There's another goal my team will be going to achieve. Remember, this is a synth laboratory, so there could be a lot of their creatures similar to our BJ or a synth copy of Sandy we've met earlier. What we're going to do is to try and persuade them if not join us, then at least stop their fight against us and start their own life without being manipulated by their creators. That's why Miss BJ will be my second in command this time as I see her best fitting for this kind of job and I'm going to give her freedom in choosing her methods. Speaking of synths, Miss Lu have you succeeded in creating a detector for them?"
"Well, frankly I wasn't sure if we were successful in building one until I heard the news about Miss BJ," she replied, "But now I'm sure it works as it should."
"Good. Could you please share its algorithm with Lexy so she could check all the people coming in if we're going to take synths on board? I'd rather make sure none of our enemies would try to pass as one," Taffer continued.
"If I'm allowed to voice my preferences, I'd like to see Sandy and Volodya in my team. But it's up to them to decide."
"Would be a nice couple to even the odds," He thought to himself but didn't voice his concerns. Instead he said to Griffov, "So this entire pheromone business converges to Varus who was obviously in the know this runner was rigged and is going to be delivered to our base by you and that's why he presented it as a special offer to you. This dealer is known for shady business, so I'd be surprise if he wasn't involved into affairs with Skarr and his base at Alaska one way or another. If so, we can find some incriminating evidence to make him more cooperative about this stinky incident. If we're finished with this part of investigation, I'm going to send your runner to the maintenance for braking fluid change and decontamination so it will be safe to use once we get to our mission. Ah, didn't I say you're hired for our current mission? Well, guess I kind of did right now. But that's a moot point as we're already taking off. So I advise you to check to your room and ready your weapons for the next fight. I see you have your own set of heavy armor right? That's good, fort the battle is going to be hard and rather… unpredictable."

When the briefing was over, Sandy Bell squeezed Volodja's hand, then leaned over and whispered in his ear, "Meet me in our room please, as soon as you can." After kissing him on the cheek but not waiting for an answer, Sandy then stood up, looking neither right nor left as she stormed out of the room, with her tan hands clenched so tight that her knuckles of her fists were white, being the first to leave the room. She walked stiff legged all the way to her and Volodja's stateroom, closing the door behind her, and leaning on it with her back, taking a series of timed breaths - a breathing exercise her high school coach had taught her when she was on the track team and lost a match, always a rare event, but which angered her for she would get mad at herself for doing some minor misstep or the referee for a call she felt unfair. After one such losing match, she had punched a locker door, bending the metal and hurting her hand, which was when the coach had taught her a less violent method to cope with her anger, which was still not often. Sandy was normally very level headed, and slow to ever anger, but when she did, she would go off by herself and calm down with the breathing exercises the coach had taught her long ago. "I just don't fit in here," Mumbled Sandy out loud after she had calmed down, "This organization, this world, this time period! Just when I think I have a handle on things and I'm getting ahead, I'm shuffled to the back bench again, treated like another grunt among other grunts. I'd parachute out of here right now if not for Volodja and the promise I made to rescue Belle!" "It's not the EMC, for sure, but they are your're friends," Interjected Sarge, her EGO psyche, "But it IS your decision whether you stay or go. I'm just along for the ride." Sarge laughed in her head in that sort of manly guffaw she remembered so fondly in the trenches during the lulls between the battles of the Pale Wars, and a warm grin spread across her pretty tan face, as she slowly shook her blond head and remarked back to him through the telepathic link they shared, "You always know how to cheer me up Sarge." "Part of my job Captain," Answered Sarge in a cheery masculine voice, "Now how's about you begin that other battle plan we discussed, so I can then go visit with Sophie. I think I'll need to bring some virtual candy and flowers, for it's been so long since I've gone over there!" Sandy's smile widened as she ran over to her duffel bag where it sat next to the bed, picking it up and rummaging through it. Finally she found what she was looking for, pulling out a ruby red teddy and black fishnet stockings, then finally at the bottom of the bag, a bottle of red wine of the vintage that she had noted Volodja was particularly fond of. Placing the wine carefully on the bedside table, Sandy then grabbed her makeup bag and the clothes she had retrieved, dumping the duffel bag next to the bed. shoving it under with one foot before rushing into the bathroom, stripping off her light armor and camouflaged uniform as she did. When she got there, she quickly donned on the teddy and stockings, then looked into the mirror, applying a judicious amount of blush and eyeliner, before using a lipstick as red as her teddy. Smacking her lips twice to make sure the lipstick was equally distributed across her thin but attractive lips, she then mussing her blond hair to give it that just-woke-up look that Sarge had told her some men like. Sandy rushed back to the bed with two water glasses from the bathroom, putting them next the wine bottle on the nightstand, then smoothing the bed covers out before laying down in what she hoped was a sexy but not slutty pose on her side with her head resting on one elbow facing the door, so that the first thing Volodja would see when he entered would be her staring back at him with a slightly sleepy look in her big blue eyes that Sarge had also told her some men like.

Post by Lady Christianna on Jun 25, 2016 11:27:15 GMT
In the conference room aboard the Vigilant, Lady Christianna sat silently with a hologram of Lexy, the ship's little-girl AI, in her lap during the whole briefing, but who disappeared right after the meeting ended, first saying a cheerful, "Bye Lady." before leaving. Being silent during mission briefings was not unusual for Lady, for she rarely talked at any time, and then with as few words as possible. However, although she didn't speak, it didn't mean she wasn't paying attention, for she watched EVERTHING. She saw the body language and facial expressions of all her team mates as Atticus and then Taffer spoke, particularly noting when BJ Starr winced at being called synthetic and when Sandy Bell did so when the command assignments were made.
After everyone had left but Atticus and herself, who was examining his data-pad, Lady floated above her seat, then over to where he stood, making her lips substantial enough to lightly kiss the back of his neck as she gently touched his shoulder while looking over his shoulder with her big pink eyes, whispering in a wispy voice, "BJ hates being called synthetic. And Sandy's pissed."
"What!?!?," Uttered Atticus gruffly, but still sounding surprised, "Why is Sandy angry?"
"Go-getter. Wants command responsibilities. Starr women always ambitious, need to succeed, drive to thrive," Answered Lady in a matter-of-fact way as she dramatically floated through the wall toward the berth deck, but adding with an enigmatic smile but one of promise before she disappeared from view completely, "CYA. Our room. When you can."
Meanwhile just after Lena, Marcel and BJ left the conference room, Lena asked with a wicked smile, "Hey BJ, you can come party with us in our stateroom if you want! Your roomie is a bit of a stiff - no fun at all!"
"Naw, but thank y'all kindly," Replied BJ, "Not in a partying mood I guess, and I never needed much sleep - even less if I'm really just a robot!"
BJ smiled and laughed, but it was a hollow laugh, before remarking, "Really, thanks, but... I need some alone time, just to get into the mindset for the upcoming hoedown! And, I really would like to see the ship! It is huge!"
"Suit yourself," Replied Lena in a noncommittal way, but then a mischievous glint grew in her unblinking sky blue eyes as she added cheerfully while lovingly grabbing Marcel's crotch, "I got something else huge to keep me busy!"
BJ watched the two turn and go arm in arm down the hall, then turning and disappearing from her view as she just slowly shook her blond tresses, muttering to herself, "Crazier than a tiger in a bear trap - and just as dangerous!"
BJ found herself drawn to the Vigilant's Bridge, peeking in and seeing the big purple bio-man in the command chair, BJ then asking hesitantly, "Captain Kaj, may I come onto your bridge please!"
When he nodded his head in assent, she entered the bridge, standing awkwardly at his side with her arms folded, rubbing them as if she were cold, watching the view ahead of them of the clouds going by as the Vigliant flew forwards, until he finally asked, "Why are you here, Ms. Starr?"
"Why are ANY of us here? Ohhhh... you didn't mean it in an existentialist way," BJ laughed melodically, using the moment to gather her thoughts before continuing, "I've heard bio-men are genetically grown super soldiers, and I guess, if what everybody here seems to believe is true, I'm kind of like that too. I mean, I have my - I mean, Belle Starr's - cells and memories, built around a robot's body! I feel human, I feel like I'm Belle Starr, so... am I a human trapped in a robot's body, or a robot trapped in a human's body?"
Tears began to stream out of BJ's diamond blue eyes and her shaply body began to shake as she leaned her thin arm on his broad shoulder, burying her beautiful freckled face there, not caring that the bridge crew saw her emotional breakdown as she said in tearful gasps, "I'm Belle... but nobody believes me... especially Vo! How am I... supposed to live with that? How am I... supposed to go on? How... did you do it when you found out you were't like them... neither human or Votan... but something... different?"

When someone would say that Volodja was surprised by the sight then that someone would have been wrong. Volodja was not merely surprised. Stunned would have been much more appropriate better word to describe his condition after spotting such a gorgeous sight of beautiful woman, covered only with few strips of red and black clothing. But since he considered himself flexible enough, he reacted relatively fast, smiled to his beloved Sandy and looking deeply into her dreamy blue eyes, lowered himself to his knees and slid himself by her bedside. Seeing that Sandy reached her tanned hand for glasses, he said with a smile: "First I am going to taste something much tastier than wine, if you are not mind." and he placed kiss to Sandy's red lips, enjoying the moment and prolonging it into a small eternity. Only after that they tasted red wine from their water glasses and After tendering Sandy with his glance Volodja said something a bit unusual: "Mind to borrow me your lipstick?" Small frown appeared to Sandy's pretty face but she did as Volodja asked. That frown disappeared immediately when she saw why Volodja needed her lipstick. He used it to write simple message to the piece of paper. The message read: After that Volodja rose, went decisively to the door, placed the sign outside and on his way back to Sandy Volodja gave a strip tease performance of his own when he undressed himself slowly, dropping all his clothes on the way to their bed. When he reached back, he kissed Sandy passionately once more and after caressing her tenderly started to slowly remove her red teddy and kiss every revealed square inch of her tanned skin, until only pieces of clothing she had on were her black fish net stockings and even that was far more clothing than Volodja wore at moment.

Vo was mostly silent during the mission briefing as he stared in front of him, avoiding eye contact of anyone of the team especially BJ. He liked that she got herself a new name which might be a good sign that she's starting to accept her true nature. He felt he was cruel with her by avoiding any contact and not trying to comfort her but he saw it as the only way he could help her let go of the memories that was uploaded into her and start her own life. He believed that if he tried to comfort her he would only reassure her false hopes that she could replace Belle in his life and the life of the team. He felt she would be in much more pain when those hopes were finally shattered than if she didn't have them reassured in the first place. So all he could do at the moment was to keep distance from her and hope other team members could soothe her and make this new world she came to so abruptly just a little more comfortable to her.
After the meeting ended, he went to the ship's armory as he needed to check and field-strip his weapons to ensure each one is in perfect condition for the upcoming battle. He also wanted to make some modifications to his new Breacher to suit his style of fighting. He felt slightly sad to put away his old shotgun, but he thought that under severe weather conditions of Alaska this Breacher would be more reliable.
"I'll sign in to the team of Atticus and Vo", Lu said patting her Mass Cannon she thought could be the most useful weapon of hers during this upcoming battle, "I think the frontal assault will suit me better. Unless someone's going to order me to stay on the ship… again." She glanced at Taffer's holographic avatar, but as it didn't dissipate or burst into sparks she calmed down and added, "Guess I and Lexy will have another quick course of study today."
After the meeting she went to the communications room which she thought would suit her session with Lexy which, as she thought, would be short as the algorithm of synth detection was really simple. As Lexy's hologram appeared in the room in the form of a six-year Castithan girl who was sitting on the table dangling her feet in the air, Lu smiled and showed her device.
"This is the frequency you'd want to tune your scanners to if you want to detect a synth. Then you'll just need to monitor how the EM wave reflects from their body to determine if they're synth or not. What is the most important thing during the test is to keep the amplitude as low as possible and never exceed the amplitude of this transmitter I've just shown. That is, unless you want to scare them all, including miss BJ, away from you, which we definitely don't want to do."
"Miss Lu, may I ask?" Lexy suddenly said as she pointed at Lu's rocket launcher, "Why there's an additional oxidizer tank on each rocket in your Mass Cannon?"
"Well," Lu scratched her head, surprised by a sudden question she didn't have a certain answer for, "It's included in the standard package and I just thought if it works, don't fix it, right?"
"But it's meant to be used on old launchers and those which have their rockets stored in the open air!" Lexy insisted, "Like the old Frontier Rocket Pod! The additional amount of oxidizer is needed so that the rocket fuel will still burn properly when it's very cold outside. The Votan launchers, like your Mass Cannon, are different! Their magazine is thermi… thermost… it keeps your rockets always warm so that you never need more oxidizer in them! Once launched they heat themselves with the burning fuel so you don't need to worry about them freezing at all!"
"Hmm, does it mean I can just remove those parts from my rockets, and then I'll be able to fit more of them into the magazine?"
"Exactly!" Lexy jumped off the table and clapped her hands with joy, "I count, you can fit eight of them instead of six!"
"Well, I think Alaska would be the best field to test this modification," Lu concluded, "And… how do you know all that, little Lexy?"
"I'm a spaceship AI and helper! If there's something I know about, it's rockets and space travel!" Lexy pointed her little pointer finder up and her face became serious for a moment as if she was truly a professor delivering a lecture to her students.
"Thanks Lexy," Lu giggled for a moment, "I think I'll go to the armory and apply your advice right now."

How... did you do it when you found out you were't like them... neither human or Votan... but something... different?"
Kaj merely wrapped his big arm comfortingly around the frail young woman and started gently rubbing her back in a soothing manner as he thought over her questioning. "Those are a lot of deep questions and observations, definitely befitting of a Starr. Let me see where should I start? Hmmmm.....
Yes bio-men are genetically grown super soldiers strictly made for war, are all males, are all infertile and other bio-men can only be created the same way the rest of us were. It is unfortunately even common knowledge that we were all created with an off switch 'built' and hidden some where on our bodies. We are quite often considered tools to be used or beasts of burden that out lived our usefulness and must be put down. I am afraid that knowledge will never get easier for us to live with. Some Bio-men find security work or some menial labor to get by but most I have in the Bay area have turned to mercenary or more illegal work to make use of their "talents". There is even a Bio-man and Gulony colony in Canada where most of the more civil and social of my species have gone to live.
How ever your last question affects me even more than you know. You see since Bio-men were made in batches and made to order, there were several different product lines over the years, most named after previous United States Presidents. I have come to realize that Bio-men treat those of different product lines like humans have been known to treat the different human races over the centuries. So you could say that even among Bio-men we have racism towards other bio-men. I have faced that racism more personally than most because I am the last of my product line as it was considered defective for we did not like to kill unless necessary to protect ourselves or an innocent. So you could see how that was a bad thing during a war and why even other Bio-men would also see it as a horrible genetic flaw. As such, my line handled that in different ways depending on the individual. Some merely refused any such order and got court martialed. Some would try to kill as we were ordered only to choke at the wrong moment and get killed. Several even found ways to commit 'suicide'. I and a couple others just tried our best to cope with our flaw as best as possible, apparently I succeeded better than every one else.
As such the order first came down to pull all of the Lincoln line, my line, from the front lines. So we were transferred to security in obscure locations, or put in various different odd positions to make use of us in some way, such as book keeping or KP duty. How ever it was not long after that, that the superiors gave the order to decommission and dismantle all the remaining Lincoln line. I was made an exception because a superior officer put his commission on the line to speak up for and save me. Why does not matter at the moment, just that he did it and we still are in touch and when I needed help to save the Protectors on a previous mission he called in several favors to get me more than enough help, which included a full crew of the PPS Vigilant. So he has proven that he is a great friend.
So how did I go on despite being neither human or Votan but something different, even from any other living member of my species?" Well it was not simple, but I guess it did start with the knowledge that some body willingly chose to risk every thing he had and found important to help me. So no matter how inwanted I felt over the years, I realized that if there was one person willing to look past my species and treat me as an equal and eventually a friend, then there were probably others out there some where. The tricky part was to endure all my hard ships until I found where I felt I belong, which I finally have; I have plenty of friends here and Sandy even considers me a big brother.
That is the best I can answer that one. So to answer the question of wether you are a human trapped in a robot's body, or a robot trapped in a human's body. I think that one is more of a philosophical question, that I must answer first with a question. What do you see your self as? You see in the long run that is what truly matters. No matter how others see you, how you see your self is truly what defines you. I know I am a Bio-man and must always live with that. However I feel and there for consider my self to be first and fore most a human. If you choose to stay with us after this mission, you will learn that there are other unique individuals on the team that have faced slightly similiar trials of their own faith. Our Commander Batman is one such person."
Kaj then said more quietly, "I know he can come off as a cold and uncaring hard ass. How ever that is just his way, for he had a worse life than even me but I have come to realize that he really does try to mean well in his own way, even if it is not obvious. I know how he addressed you in the meeting may have came off as very blunt, harsh and uncaring but if you look more closely at his words and meanings, you may see that he actually took a side and is perhaps more understanding than he lets on. For example, he did not call you a Synth or Synthetic like most would. Instead he called you Synthetic human. So he did subtly acknowledge that he does not see you as a mere synth. He also said that as far as he is concerned you are part of our family and should be treated with the respect that comes with. He did not include Mr. Kimmel in that and there are several others that he does not include in that statement. So he must have seen some thing in you to give you that honor, even though he was also one of the first to know that you have a synthetic body. I can tell that information of your physiology hurts you, and I am afraid nothing I can say will make it hurt any less. How ever any time you need to talk, or just need a shoulder to cry on, just give me a call. One can never have enough friends or family. So if you decide you want me to be one or both, just say so."
Even though her sobbing had lessened some by now, Kaj reached for nearby box of Kleenex and gave her one. Then after she took it, he grabbed a bottle of water with his free hand. After taking a big drink, he offered it to BJ as well.

After everyone had left but Lady and myself, with me examining my data-pad, Lady floated above her seat, then over to where I stood, making her lips substantial enough to lightly kiss the back of my neck as she gently touched my shoulder while looking over my shoulder with her big pink eyes, whispering in a wispy voice, "BJ hates being called synthetic. And Sandy's pissed."
"What!?!?," I uttered gruffly, but still sounding surprised, "Why is Sandy angry?"
After Lady left, I continued to stare at the data-pad as I thought of what she said. Then I sent Sandy an EGO message. "Sandy I have been distracted with everything lately, so thank you for the great job you did with the preparations. I also reviewed the reports from the last mission and know how vital you were there. It has also been brought to my attention that you feel you deserve more responsibilities, which I can't argue with as you are probably right. I have refrained from considering it because I got the feeling, a while back, that you did not actually want to be here and only stick around because of Volodja. However perhaps I was wrong. So if you do want more command responsibilities, then just let me or Taffer know what department you feel you will fit in the best and we will figure out a command position for you there, even if we have to create one to best showcase your talents. As far as away missions go, I can not promise to put you in charge often as there are several of you capable and willing to do so.
However as for this mission, Taffer already said why he chose BJ Starr as his second, and he even requested that you and Volodja join his team. I do not know for certain why, as his reasons are his own and neither of us are that open with our reasons behind what we do, in case you haven't realized that yet. However I would also like the two of you to join his team, as I feel it would be a good idea, but it is your choice to make. The reason for Volodja is obvious. He knows Lestrange best and is therefore probably the best choice to try to keep him focused; and Volodja and Taffer always seem to have some kind of odd plan so that is a good thing as well.
However as a soldier from the Pale Wars, you know better than most of the others how to deal with anything that is thrown at you; endure, survive and best it, then own it. Besides I do not trust Lena completely and know she is up to something, as she is ALWAYS up to something, and I feel you have proven more than capable of dealing with her 'peculiarities'. Not only that, but if Taffer is right and the infiltration team ends up having to play decoy, then Taffer may have to split it into two smaller teams. So it would be good to have somebody willing and able to lead another team if needed, on the main infiltration team. That would be you, with Volodja as your second, if the infiltration team does indeed need to split in two."
After I sent Sandy the message, I sent Taffer a message saying that I would be in my quarters if he needed anything before we land, as Kaj is in command of the Vigilant and I am not currently needed for anything else before we land in Alaska. So I would tell him what little I have discovered on the data-disk at that time. Then after I finished up everything else that I currently needed to do, I grabbed my helm and headed back to my stateroom to see what my (secretly) devious wife was up to and planning to surprise me with this time, as the only surprises I ever like are hers.

Post by Sandy Bell on Jun 26, 2016 13:55:40 GMT
Sandy Bell laid nude in bed, contently in the arms of the man she loved, Volodja Uljanov, after their session of frantic but also gentle lovemaking. It was gentle, because that was the nature of their relationship, each wanting to pleasure but not hurt the other, for there had been enough hurt in both their lives over their lifetimes. Frantic, because their relationship, as well as their lives, was filled with interruptions; so many that when they had free time to spend together, they not only cherished it, but tended to feel that any minute it would end, so they always felt pressed to put as much physical effort and emotional intensity into their lovemaking as they could muster in the short amount of time that they always felt they had before the next of life's interruptions. Luckily for them, they had just finished their loving interlude when Atticus Batman sent his encouraging EGO message to Sandy. She was dozing laying on her side, resting her pretty blond head on Volodja's shoulder, with her right hand laying lightly on his chest, when suddenly she sat straight up as she heard Atticus' message. Volodja's brown eyes looked up at her concern, but she held up her tan hand palm forward with a warm grin indicating there was nothing to be alarmed over as she continued to listen to Atticus over her EGO. Her grin widened the longer she listened, and her blue eyes fairly beamed with pleasure at what she heard. When Atticus finished his message, Sandy replied through his EGO to hers, "Thank you sir. I'll serve in whatever capacity you think I'm best qualified to serve in. I'm happy to help the team in every way I can and... thank you sir, for your recognition of my abilities. Well,... just, well... thank you sir!" With the communication ended, she leaned back down, kissing Volodja voraciously, saying to him happily afterwards, "That was Atticus! He's going to give me more command responsibilities, isn't that wonderful? Maybe I have a career again, and not just a job. Don't get me wrong, the Protectors do great work, and it's very emotionally gratifying to help people, but I felt I was starting to stagnate here. I felt like I was just banging my head against a glass ceiling, with no hope of getting ahead or being recognized for my command abilities. I was even starting to think I was only even tolerated because I was their resident brain trust's girlfriend. Maybe it was a silly thought, but it was what I was beginning to think, and that the only way succeed was to leave - not you my love, but the Protectors! Glad to hear I was wrong!" Sandy kissed Volodja, and one kiss led to another until they began a second round of frantic but also gentle lovemaking. Meanwhile on the Vigilant's bridge, Atticus was the subject of conversation as well. Captain Kaj said quietly to BJ, the synthetic girl who thought herself a human woman and was grieving because of it, "I know he can come off as a cold and uncaring hard ass. How ever any time you need to talk, or just need a shoulder to cry on, just give me a call. One can never have enough friends or family. So if you decide you want me to be one or both, just say so." Even though BJ's sobbing had lessened some by now, Kaj reached for nearby box of Kleenex and gave her one. Then after she took it, he grabbed a bottle of water with his free hand. After taking a big drink, he offered it to BJ as well, as she replied with a warm smile, "Thank y'all Kaj, I'd like that!" As the Vigilant crossed over the border over what had once been the state of Alaska, the hologram of a little Castithan girl, the avatar of the ship's AI Lexy, appeared, biting her her lower lip as she stood awkwardly before Kaj, reporting, "There's a weird trans...transmi... music and vid coming through, Cap'n Kaj! I really like it!" "Play it please Lexy," Ordered Kaj. As it played on the overhead screen, BJ leaned forward and suddenly a big smile crossed her beautiful freckled face as she exclaimed, "I know that music! And those cute little critters! They're Teletubbies! Back in N'Awlins, Papa Bordeaux used to play their vids to me when I was knee high to a grasshopper, just to keep me busy and out of trouble! I used to love them!" Tasha Yar suddenly interrupted, her voice edged with urgency, "We have incoming sir. One on the radar, slower than a missile or any other ballistic I know of, and... it seems to be making loops and now... sir, it just stopped straight in front of us, about fifteen miles ahead." "Magnify and put it on the view screen Officer Yar," Ordered Kaj calmly. The screen flickered on, and all those on the Vigilant's bridge saw a yellow indistinct dot floating among the clouds, then the figure was magnified revealing a small yellow bipedal figure with a smiling pink face, an antenna on top of it's head and a screen in it's stomach, holding and waving a white flag vigorously. "Aww, it's Laa-Laa," Exclaimed a delighted BJ, the tears now long gone from her blue diamond eyes and a huge smile gracing her rose petal lips. Just as Atticus Batman reached his stateroom's door, eager to see his wife, Lady Christianna who awaited within, he heard Kaj's calm voice over his communicator say, "Commander Batman, sorry to disturb you, but there is an urgent matter on the bridge that needs your attention."

Just as I reached my stateroom's door, eager to see my wife, Lady Christianna who awaited within, I heard Kaj's calm voice over his communicator say, "Commander Batman, sorry to disturb you, but there is an urgent matter on the bridge that needs your attention."
I quietly muttered under my breath to myself, "Dak. now what?!"
As I turned on my heel and headed back towards the Bridge double-time, I sent Taffer an EGO message. "Taffer there is something urgent happening on the Bridge. I have no idea what, but I have a feeling that I will need you to meet me there immediately!"
Upon entering the Bridge, I saw a floating yellow creature on the screen and said out loud, "Dak! What the hell is that thing?!"
Kaj ordered an officer to scan the Teletubby to find out if it was electronic or organic in nature, as he heard me. So without looking away from the screen, Kaj replied, "It appears that is what is called a Teletubby according to BJ, and it is from an Old Earth television broadcast. She calls this one La-la, and it appears to be waving a white flag, Commander."
I glanced around at the Bridge Crew and noticed that the Constantines had decided to take a shift on the Bridge instead of relaxing. So Attila was at an engineering console and Atika was once again at Comms. Then I said commandingly, "Shields up. Weapons on standby, but do NOT activate them unless I give the order! We do not want to start a firefight if we can avoid it! Comms open a channel and broadcast a friendly message in every language that you and Lexy know. Let's see if that "TELETUBBY" responds."
I then sent Taffer another EGO message saying, "Taffer, things have just gotten very weird up here..."Twilight Zone" weird! Do you know what a "TELETUBBY" is? Because according to the Bridge Crew, I am looking at one waving a white flag through the view screen right this moment. So I definitely think you need to see this. I have opened a comm channel and Miss Constantine is trying to make contact now."
Then I sent an EGO message to Volodja and Sandy as well saying, "I know you two are off-duty but I think Volodja may find what is happening on the Bridge very interesting... and Sandy perhaps you could add some insight as well, as it seems to involve something from an Old Earth broadcast. Apparently a creature called a "TELETUBBY" is floating in front of us and waving a white flag. We are trying to communicate with it, as I speak. However Volodja you are the resident advisor and I could use some advice on this thing, if you are indeed interested."

Sandy Bell and Volodja Uljanov were laying on their bed, bodies entwined in gentle embrace. Sandy was still partly on top of him, placing right leg between Volodja's so he could feel her moist touch on his thigh, warm and sweaty softness of her skin on his body and sweet smell of her blonde hair in his nostrils because his face was resting in Sandy's tousled blond hair. Volodja's hand stroke Sandy's bare back from back of her head to her firm bottom. Then his lips found Sandy's ear among her hair. He kissed it and whispered:
"I am glad for you and your promotion," he whispered. "And the fact that our high command managed to prove that they have fair share of common sense left. Protectors could lost one fine commanding officer, not to mention that without you everything would have been damn dull. You have always been more than just a pretty face and a gorgeous body, Sandy. You have wits, you have guts, you have charm and sense of duty. I might not be the resident brain trust as you kindly called me, but you have always had bigger part to play than being my girlfriend...but I am really lucky that you decided to be my significant other...It means a lot to me, and when to think about it, then rest of Protectors as well, because no matter how far my itchy feet carried me, I always wanted to return to you. What I am trying to say is...I love you and need you. I don't want to waste one second without your loving...We still have places to go and things to do together. And as I said before, the rest of our team needs your leadership skills and your valuable battle experience...We all gain when you stay, and I am happy to work under you...I mean under your command...I mean..." Voldoja almost blushed when he realized that he might have said something inappropriate to his beloved girl.
